Nice place if you have a boat as has a dock for your boat. Pool is amazing and kept very clean and nice outside sitting area to relax and watch the Atlantic Ocean. Cannot swim off the beach area, but very nice to relax. There was 9 of us in group. We had two rooms in the hotel part that was very nice and updated. We also rented two cabin type rooms that had a full size refrigerator, small stove and sink so we could cook. Cabins not updated and very small. Also difficult to cook as limited and very old cooking supplies. There was also a ant problem in the cabins. New managers are very friendly and are aware of issues and working very hard to get updates done as soon as possible. Overall it worked out great for us and would return next year. Hopefully the cabins will be updated by then!

We have been to this resort twice now. First one was November of last year and the past weekend of June 26-28 to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary.
What i like the most about this place is it is so laid back, and you feel the island vibe all through out the resort. Their swimming pools is very nice, they have cottages and villas to rent for families, so if you want to cook, you may do so. They have other rooms available for whatever you need. You may bring your boat as well to dock in the marina. Although, I would say the marina needs more update but it does it job. At the end of the marina there's a bench where you can catch fish as well.
There is a beach as well with tiki huts and lounge chairs. you may bring your own drinks and foods if you like to relax by the beach and watch over the ocean. It is actually perfect for a wedding venue.
If there's a suggestion i would say is that it need a little update, but as of now everything over all is what makes it unique and eccentric at the same time.
If you like peace for the weekend getaway this is also perfect.
For families and groups, this place will never disappoint you.
Simple but we loved it.

We were booked in a room in the large 3 floor property on the south side. The first room, 19, had no closet, the a/c was very cold even though the thermostat was set at 78. We were moved to room 15 the next night. The room had a large glass door that had a view of the water. Unfortunately, the balcony the door opened on to was accessed by all rooms on the 3rd floor so there was no privacy and we had to keep the drapes closed for security. The coffeemaker in the room had no outlet in close proximity. I used two packets of coffee that was provided in the mini drip pot and the coffee looked like tea. The rooms have no soundproofing. The guests in the next room came in at 1:30 a.m. They were talking loudly, had the TV on and we heard "everything" that was going on after the TV was turned off. We could never get the TV in room 15 to operate. The internet, ice machine in lobby and refrigerator in room were all great. Will never go here again.

There is a reason they do not put pictures of the rooms on their website. They are small, beds are old and uncomfortable, one bed is a pull out cot, we found old clothes and a piece of chicken under our bed. The furniture is mismatched and looks like it came from a garage sale or given to them for free. There was garbage on the lawn for over 24 hours as well as a dad rat that was there for who knows how long. Only one staff member who was not helpful. Our Balcony overlooked the owners private residence which was very creepy. Zero beach entrance means you can't go into the ocean from their "resort". Breakfast is coffee and pre-packaged honey buns that you have to wait until 9 to eat. On the plus side, they do have a great location and with some time, effort and a lot of money this could be a great place. We got up early to see the sunrise over the ocean then immediately left. My advise is to spend the extra $50 or so and check into the Postcard Inn right down the block.

Do not stay in room 9.... the faucet outside of the room is where the fish are cleaned, no matter what time of day or night. That leads to the water running into your designated parking spot and you park, unload yourself, luggage or whatever in the middle of that parking pond. Only to track wet sand into the room and have to clean that after you clean the cockroaches out. WAY overpriced. Asked one question pertaining to the area and the gal who checked us in, said, "I have no idea." Sorry I asked. Been in Florida traveling for two weeks. First and only disappointing accomidations.

Response from Coconut Cove Resort And Marina, General Manager at Coconut Cove Resort and Marina
Responded 22 Dec 2023
No the faucet outside room 9 is not for fish cleaning. Fish cleaning is only allowed at the dock on the fish cleaning table. Sorry the person in the office was not able to help you more. Some of our employees are not from the area and are still getting to know the area themselves.

After being locked down for a couple of months my wife and our 2 kids ages 14 and 11 needed to just get away for a few days. After some research, we decided to drive down to the Keys and stay at Coconut Cove in Islamorada, FL. We stayed in one of the 6 cottages. It was awesome! It was like having our own little oceanfront getaway. We even had 6 manatees hang out just off the point for about 30 minutes. There are only 20 rooms on the 7-acre property. It is kept up very well. Our room was cottage #5. It was built in the fifties, but it was spottles clean and very well maintained. It had a quaint charm you don't find very often in a resort town. The managers, Miami and Shelly were great! They answered any questions we had and made sure we were having a great time daily. From Coffee, pastries, and bananas every morning to the absolutely amazing huge pool with its a large waterfall, we really wanted for nothing. The owner, Paul, really cares about his property and it shows. If you are looking for room service, and bellboys and a highly overpriced place to stay in the Keys then do stay at Coconut Cove. If you are looking for an amazing place to get away with your family in a beautiful setting with a friendly staff, then you must check out this resort! WE can not wait to go back. It's our new home away from home in the Keys! Thank you again to Miami, Shelly, and Paul for an awesome week! Tracy and Kim Hussey, North Port, FL

This place is not a resort and is falling apart both inside and out. Room was dirty with sand and bathroom was a collection of unmatched parts and a broken toilet seat.

Don’t forget any belongings in your room when you leave!!!! You may not get them returned.

Picnic table literally collapsed on my 72 yr old BIL when he sat down.

Hotel Room doors are not secure (no fob or key card) and only have a cheap door knob that can easily be manipulated to open.

Staff became rude when I called repeatedly to see if our family member’s expensive head phones were found and returned by housekeeping.

Will not be returning and do not recommend!!!!

I give this motel (definitely not a resort) 2 stars because the property is very nice. The property has so much potential that it's sort of sad that the owners doesn't use it to its ability and noone stays there and sees it beauty also. The owners only maintain the pool, not it's bathrooms..that was disgusting. They have a great tiki in the middle of the property and they use it as the designated smoking area. This would be a really cool bar located next to the pool. Again shame! The rooms were very very basic with absolutely no wifi connection. At check in the "new management" said they have no room for us did not apologize once and says that Expedia overbooked us. When I told the woman that I booked through their website she then changed her story saying she didn't say expedia. She said she just started to manage this property and was blaming the previous poor manager. Poor management skills did not leave with the previous owners, trust me. This current management company again not once apologized, gave no other suggestions and no other offers. So we booked for almost double next door then we came back the following day because everywhere was uber expensive and booked as well. However on the day of check out I requested late check out and she said ok then an hour later she offered us to stay that night for free. Good management would have offered this as soon as the issue prevailed in the very beginning. Don't waste your time here.

I knew i was in trouble when i made the reservation; the owner who happened to take my call for the rsvp was very harsh on the phone, not professional at all. I honestly thought i misdialed the number. But after reading some positive reviews I said i woudl give it a shot. As soon as we got there the place is super run downed and lets say the staff reminded me of the Tiger king series. We stayed 2 nights then we decided to check into another hotel near by. Trust me DO NOT go here with your family!!

I wanted to be able to leave a good review for this place, because my first impression was very favorable. However, I am very dissatisfied with how things ended... My family and I were in town for a wedding, and the place we had booked have away our room for that night. We desperately wanted to stay with the rest of our family at the wedding venue, but they were completely booked. So, we reached out to Coconut Cove and we were able to get a room within about half an hour after calling. The room seemed satisfactory, but later that evening we found a strange worm-like creature in the bathroom and then a large (and very sharp) screw in one of the beds, under the covers. 😬 We expressed concerns, but felt we had no other options because every other resort was booked. That night none of us were able to sleep, the window AC unit would not turn off, and we all ended up with bug bites on our legs and ankles. We wanted to talk to the manager the next morning, but Retta was nowhere to be found, and Bernadine (while polite and courteous) wasn't able to help. We checked out immediately and found another place to stay for the remainder of our trip. Bernadine told us that Retta would reach out to discuss a refund, but Retta never called. So, 2 days later we called in the morning and Bernadine insisted that Retta would call us back within a few hours. That evening we called again, and Bernadine said that 1) Retta was "no longer in the office", 2) Refunds are no longer available after a certain number of days, 3) Retta "manages a lot of properties, and 4) Retta would call us the next day. But the next day Retta didn't call... So, I called again, except this time Retta answered, and she was terse and rude. 😐 She offered no apology or remorse regarding our unpleasant stay, and repeatedly said, "there's no refunds for early departures". So, long story short, I paid over $650 to stay ONE NIGHT, none of my family was able to get any sleep, and we were treated with disrespect when we tried to get a refund. We will never visit this resort again!
