Detailed Reviews
Spent a week here mid September, and enjoyed every minute. Room was very clean and spacious. Kitchen was stocked with everything you need, all you need to do is bring your food. Pool was recently refinished and is excellent. Water and ice available in office for small cost. Plenty of place to park and dock your boat. Grills and tables outside to enjoy dinner by the water. George and staff very friendly. Make your plans to stay here on your next visit.

I have wanted to stay in this venue since I was a kid. Finally got my chance and was so impressed with the way the property has been cared for, probably since the late 50's. I traveled back to my childhood when seeing the 50's style tile bathroom, that reminded me of the home I grew up in in northern Dade County (Miami). The property has a boat ramp and it appeared a few guests had trailered their own boats down for the pre-New Years celebration. I would recommend this property for extended stays and for people who aren't looking for an "all-inclusive" modern hotel. This is a very well maintained property with a super friendly staff that will do everything in their power to make your stay a fantastic one. There's no free breakfast...but the Green Turtle Inn is 1/2 block from the Kon Tiki, Bob's Bunz's and Mangrove Mike's are very close too. Can't wait to go back in the summer! It's the 60's Florida Keys...fantastic!!!

Stopped in to inquire about staying during the summer and the lady in the office ( short, dark hair) was extremely professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. She very efficiently booked us a few rooms and gave us all the pertinent details regarding the property and showed us around a few of the units until we found a few that best suited our needs. What really blew us away was that she noticed my wife's sport tape wrapping on her lower ankle was causing her problems and expertly re-wrapped it for her, and my wife has no further issues with it for the duration of our trip. Really great people and place!

The ambiance of the Kon Tiki reminds me of the beach houses of my childhood from ‘50s and ‘60s. Set apart under the palms, you can stroll down to a sandy sun bathing area or the concrete dock—perfect for sunsets. Nice pool, picnic area. Although kitchens and baths are small, you can see that things are constantly being upgraded and replaced. Many guests come every year, so that says a lot!

We had a wonderful stay at this family-friendly hotel in Islamorada! The room was spacious, clean, and came with a fully equipped kitchen, which made traveling with kids so much easier. The free boat dock and trailer parking were a huge bonus for our fishing and kayak adventures, and the dock itself was a hit with the kids—they caught so many fish right there!
The staff were exceptionally friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Another highlight was the free laundry facilities, which were so convenient for a family trip. Highly recommend it to families and fishing enthusiasts alike!

Terrible Experience. Our ac unit was broken so they put a floor ac in the room. The room smelled of a plug-in air freshener which I put outside. We only had one chair in the room for two people. The beds were awful. Too soft and caused back ache. The bathroom had ants from where they came in and sprayed for bugs. The room was very small. The room was not worth the money that was paid for it. It was old and need remodeled. My whole family stayed there for the Christmas holiday and they all had complaints. We do not recommend this resort to anyone. The staff was friendly but didn't know what was really going on at the room level.

If you like old style Florida resorts, then this is your place. We stayed in room 22. It’s a single queen room, but still spacious. It’s on stilts, with parking underneath on concrete. And that’s where we hang out and relax. But I need to tell you about the HEATED pool. Fantastic. I’d estimate it’s around 80 degrees. We’ve swam in it when it’s in the mid 60’s. The grounds are expansive with lots of trees and greenery that help to separate the buildings and give privacy. 4 charcoal grills and a bunch of picnic tables, in case you want to grill like we did. Publix is 2 miles away, I even rode my bike there. Lots of shopping, dining, and a couple local breweries nearby too. There’s only one way I grade a place and it’s whether or not I’d return. I’ll be back.

This resort was everything we expected and more ! Our room was spacious with two queen beds, mini fridge, coffee maker and microwave. It was very clean. The rooms of the resort are spread out nicely. We brought our boat and using the ramp to enter the gulf was great. The pool was heated and a nice place to relax. If you’re looking for a quiet place to stay in Islamorada this is it ! Definitely recommend this resort. We’ll be back soon !

Great place to stay if you want to bring your boat, do water sports, grill, and relax. Really nice beach area with picnic tables and grills. Plenty of parking for vehicles and boat trailers. Private ramp.
Beds were super comfy, Excellent water pressure, and nice, individual patios. Perfect place to watch the sunset. I do wish it had more kitchenette amenities like creamer, sugar, spoons, etc, Not a deal breaker though. Highly recommend to those wanting to stay small on Islamorada.

This is the second time staying at Kon-Tiki and it continues to be my place of choice in Islamorada. We’ve stayed in Unit 1 and 22. There are several layouts and price ranges depending on your needs. Units are individually owned, some more updated than others. Check out the pics and the property map on their website. It’s in the “central” area of Islamorada. It’s old Keys feel, basic and clean, actually is a remodeled fishing camp. It’s not a resort but does have a very nice pool and lounge chairs and hammocks for lounging. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Can’t wait until our next visit.
