This was our 3rd stay at this property in the last 4 years and we are already booked again for next October! Lee was very accommodating at the front desk during our entire 8-day stay and was able to get us a great room at a reasonable rate overlooking the main pool and patio area. Even though we really miss the outdoor breakfast buffet, the options of having a brown-bag breakfast sandwich or fruit with a drink and muffin delivered directly to you room or a $5.00 voucher at a nearby partnering coffee shop were still adequate to get us started on our day. Being just a block and a half walk from Duval Street and less than a block walk to the local grocery store made for easy access to a variety of food & beverage choices without having to eat out at restaurants for every meal. While the jacuzzi was in need of a new heater which was in process of being ordered and replaced during our stay, the other two (2) pools were sufficiently warm for day & nighttime swims. The housekeeping staff is also amazing and Monica is one of the most friendly workers we have ever met on the island...always smiling and happy to chat with the guests, especially recognizing the guests who return year after year as we do. We look forward to another fun stay next October and hope to see the same familiar faces around the property! Until then, be safe and be well!!

The luscious tropical greenery on the grounds of Ambrosia Too truly makes this a special, even healing hideaway. The grounds are a former tropical nursery and they are the nicest examples of tropical plantings I saw on Key West, with cool details like a large statue of the elephant-headed Hindu god, Ganesh. The grounds and pools are meticulously maintained. I usually never swim in hotel pools but it was so clean and beautiful, I felt totally comfortable, and I had the most beautiful twilight floats looking up at the jungle plants. I also enjoyed access to a lagoon-shaped hot tub across the street, surrounded by—you guessed it—amazing tropical foliage. I stayed in the Alligator Suite and spent many quiet and peaceful hours writing and reading on the huge private deck. The room was meticulously clean and quiet, with the pastel colors and tropical charm I absolutely must have when I visit Key West. Every staff member I encountered was kind, down to earth, and welcoming. The location is perfect, a five-minute walk from Date and Thyme, a healthy juice bar and cafe, and a few doors down from an excellent yoga studio. I also walked easily to groceries, Duvall Street, the beach and Mallory Square. I will stay here again in a heartbeat, and next time, I'm staying longer!

Hi Jasmine, We're so thrilled that you took the time to write this wonderful review. It was an absolute pleasure having you stay with us here at Ambrosia this month. It's awesome to know that you were enticed into enjoying our pristine swimming pools and jacuzzi! The lush tropical foliage is, as you say, amazing, and we're very proud to be able to share the beautiful surroundings with our great guests who come here from around the world. We are indeed just a short walk from everywhere in the historic Old Town district that you may want to go to, but when you're tucked back on your verandah or in the courtyard, you feel like you're in a very quiet and peaceful oasis. Thanks so much for staying with us! We're looking forward to seeing you here again on your next visit. Mary and the Ambrosia staff

We spent 5 nights at the Ambrosia to celebrate our 30th anniversary and had an absolutely wonderful time. General Manager Dan and his staff provided excellent service the entire stay, which included Thanksgiving Day. They even surprised us with a bottle of champagne and card on our special day; Maria at the front desk suggested a wonderful restaurant (Lola's) for the occasion.

We stayed in "Zeke's Retreat" and appreciated the cleanliness and how roomy it was; with a private fenced-in patio, it was perfect for our two pooches who always travel with us. With lack of green space in Old Town, we were pleased to find a fenced dog friendly "pocket park" just a few blocks away; plus, Higgs Beach Dog Park is just two miles away. This is a great location and place to stay in Key West, especially when you travel with small dogs.

They provide a tasty continental breakfast every morning with scrambled eggs, omelets, breakfast meats, fruit and breads, as well as juices and coffee. The entire property is clean and well maintained; just a few blocks from Duval Street, it truly is a perfect location We wholeheartedly recommend the Ambrosia Key West!

And, our sincere thanks to Dan & his entire crew for making our special vacation and celebration so special!

Ambrosia is a fairly nice Bed & Breakfast two blocks off the main drag of Duval Street. It is close enough to every main attraction that you really don’t need a car to get around.

The staff is friendly, although not terribly efficient. There is no bell service, so you will be lugging your own suitcase up rickety stairs in some cases. Everyone was quick to answer questions, but no one offered help with anything unless asked.

The rooms are small and come with a safe, mini fridge and coffee machine. Very little closet and drawer space. And no phone!

Also: The floor to our room was so dirty, that when I ran a wash cloth over a strip of it, the cloth turned black! See the attached photo. Housekeeping did wash the floor after I brought it to the front desk’s attention.

They also did not replenish pool towels or toiletries unless I asked at the front desk. That becomes problematic after 6:00 because the office closes for the night.

Breakfast was decent, and included bacon, sausage, eggs, waffles, cereal, fruit, etc.. It is served out on the pool deck. Which isn’t fun in inclement weather.

The pool areas are quite shaded, which is comfortable unless you’re hoping for a sun tan. I enjoyed my days out there.

My big gripe is the price. This place is expensive in the winter season. More than $400/night. I understand it’s Key West and everything is expensive. But for the same price, or less, I think you get a better deal at one of the resorts that has a restaurant, bar and 24 hour front desk.

Best part of my week was convenient location and beautiful pool area.

Hello Don, When you checked out you said everything was fine, so I hope you really did have a good time here with us. First of all, we apologize profusely that your floor wasn't properly cleaned the first day. It should always be spotless, and we're glad you brought it to our attention so the housekeepers could attend to it. It didn't meet the high standards we hold ourselves to. Your room was very spacious in size compared to the size of the majority of guest rooms in Key West's Old Town District, and we're proud that we don't have any tiny rooms here. We are a B&B, so no, there is no bell service. Having said that, our front desk agent Kate did assist with helping carry some of your belongings up the stairs for you. The full service resorts on the island that offer bell service, full restaurants, 24-hour front desks and bars you refer to cost $300 - $400 more per night this time of year than what you paid. You're right that Key West isn't an inexpensive destination particularly in the peak of our high season. If you were to travel down here in the summer or early fall, rates are quite a bit lower. Maybe you didn't notice, but most of the days during stay our front office was open until 8pm. On Sundays we generally close at 6pm, so that must be what you're referring to. You received the same quantity of towels and toiletry items that all of our other guests receive every day, and when you asked for more, we were happy to give you more. We're simply not used to one or two people needing eight new bath towels on a daily basis or needing multiple bottles of shampoo and conditioners every 24 hours. The products are indeed very nice (natural organic PAYA spa brand), and it's great that you obviously enjoyed them. Our pools are in courtyards surrounded by lush tropical vegetation, so depending on the time of day, the shade from the palm trees and the houses themselves will cast shadows on some of the public space areas. Most folks prefer it over not being able to find any shade. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed your days outdoors here. While we're within easy walking distance to all of the nightlife and attractions, it's so peaceful and relaxing that you almost forget you're in the heart of the historic district. Thank you for being our guest. Mary and the Ambrosia Family

Another fantastic weekend getaway at Ambrosia! Alligator room 104 with the big front porch at the end of the pool! Staff friendly and helpful, grounds and pools still nice even with reduced staff. Breakfast buffet is gone and replaced with a breakfast burrito, piece of fruit, mini muffin and bottle of OJ (thanks Covid-19).

Literally a 2 minute walk to Margaritaville on Duval St.
No resort fee, no parking fee, no internet fee, and a basic breakfast just off duval! Cheaper pool side rooms up to a townhouse or 2 bedroom suite depending on your budget.

Hi Robert, It was so nice having you here with us again for your anniversary weekend, and I really enjoyed spending some time with you while you were relaxing by the pool on Sunday. We always love seeing repeat guests, and appreciate your valuable input. We're doing our best to offer a couple of different bagged/boxed breakfast options for guests during the ongoing pandemic, but you're right that it can't compete with our traditional breakfast buffet poolside. Hopefully by the time of your next visit, we'll have more flexibility. I think we all miss the "old days," but we're getting through this with a smile on our faces and keeping our guests and our staff safe. The Alligator Suite that you were in, and the Tree Top Too Suite located directly above it, are our most popular rooms due to their private outdoor porches overlooking the pool and courtyard. We're glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for being our guests.

We recently stayed at Ambrosia in the Sailfish room. It was across the street from the main office, but so nice and quiet. We had a bedroom with a large king size bed and a livingroom area with a couch, chair, fridge, TV. There was a small "hot tub" (not really hot), around the corner from our room, but no one seemed to use it, but us. The Ambrosia is centrally located and walking distance to both sides of the island. We also took the Duval Loop. There is a stop right down the the street, so very convenient.

Lee in the office, is fantastic. The Ambrosia should be very happy to have her working their front desk. Personable, friendly and wants to make sure your stay is the best it can be. She even moved a parking cone in a puddle so I could get across to our uber and my feet didn't get soaked before going to the airport.

Will we be back. ABSOLUTELY! Already planning.

We stayed in the honeymoon room at the Ambrosia and it exceeded all of our expectations. The room very comfortable and the bathroom was huge! The whole property from the pool area, the balcony and the room was filled with old town Key West charm! The location was perfect for all the activities we had planned. We could easily walk or bike (which we were able to conveniently rent on site) to Mallory square, the seaport or Duval! The staff was helpful, courteous and friendly! Even though they were unable to provide the hot buffet breakfast each morning due to covid restrictions, we were delivered a filling and tasty bagged breakfast right to our room every morning promptly at 8:30am! Also, we were able to park our car for free right on site!! We can’t wait to return!

Hi Lynn, We're so glad you enjoyed your three night stay at Ambrosia, and it's great to know that you loved our amazing location and Key West charm. One of the beauties about our location is you don't need to drive anywhere once you're here, so you can spend your vacation enjoying all that the island has to offer instead of driving around looking for parking spaces! Thanks for appreciating our efforts to provide guests with nice breakfast options during this unusual time when we're unable to serve our customary help-yourself breakfast buffet due to COVID restrictions. Your comment made my day! Thanks so much for staying with us. We look forward to your next visit.

I really don't like writing semi-negative reviews when the hospitality was very good, however, if I were to have read this review before booking, I would not have done so. There were things that did not work right like the towel hook in the bathroom that was broken and kept coming off, and the mini refrigerator that didn't cool well enough. Key West is a very old town and it's understandable that the rooms would be small, but it wasn't the size of the room that was an issue. Paying $18 for a bike when it's cheaper nearby is not good, for what people pay here, it should be free. The old charm of this place is really cool, but if you are ok paying $600 a night for a place that is not even an all-inclusive then go right ahead (I get that we stayed during a weekend). We had to remind our hospitality agent that we had a free bottle of wine which was awkward, also we did not have a free bottle of water in our room as stated by the property listing. You could be somewhere in the Caribbean with your own private chef for that price. All in all, the place was just ok and in my opinion it is a 3-star stay.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay at Ambrosia Key West Tropical Lodging. We appreciate your feedback and your business very much and would like to individually address your concerns. Our maintenance team will be looking into, and correcting, the problem you experienced with the towel hook and mini refrigerator; thank you for bringing this to our attention. As you know, walking and biking are the best ways to see the island and we want to make it as convenient and fun as possible for our guests to enjoy this popular activity. Although $18 a day may seem high to some, this rate is competitive with other bike rental companies in Old Town. Our convenient location provides easy access to almost all attractions, offering guests an opportunity to easily explore on foot which makes it a highly popular place to stay for travelers. With three pools, onsite parking, rooms with private entrances and outdoor sitting areas, a host of thoughtful amenities (including refillable water bottles to be used at any one of our three filtered water machines), and free WIFI, we can offer a unique and value-added experience that keeps guests coming back time and again. In addition, we are pleased to be able to offer Expedia VIP members a free bottle of wine upon check-in. It is our understanding that you did receive your bottle when you arrived. We certainly hope that you enjoyed it after what was probably a long day of travel. In closing, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your business and honest review. Providing exceptional guest service is always our goal and we hope that sometime in the future, we will have the opportunity to welcome you back to Ambrosia Key West. Until we meet again, stay safe and healthy.

We stayed 3 nights in the upstairs room with our own porch area which had sofas and low table. A higher table & stools and a swing seat - absolutely lovely. So private for sitting outside and relaxing. The bedroom was lovely and clean. There is a small area with fridge, microwave & coffee maker . This leads to the bathroom. Plenty of towels and pool towels provided too.
All the staff couldn’t do enough to make our stay great. There are 2 pools which were cleaned daily (the property is surrounded by trees so leaves may drop in them during the day). The smaller pool is slightly heated.
The Ambrosia is no more than between 5/10 minutes walk to the centre/Duval street.
The Ambrosia compliments the total vibe and atmosphere of Key West.
If you are staying at this Key West accommodation I am so envious already!!!

As we're early risers and were driving down to Key West Ambrosia from the Homestead area, we knew that we would be early but decided to see if the office would let us, at least, park before check-in. When we arrived, we encountered the property manager, Lee, and asked if she would mind. Not only did she not mind, she went out of her way to see that we would find a parking spot on the street near the lodge. Looking, she walked up and down the block before realizing one of the spots was taken by a current guest who would be leaving soon. She made an arrangement with them to move to a temporary parking spot and allowed us to back in. We ended up directly in front of the office. Sweet. Lee was proficient, helpful, and quick with suggestions. This lady needs a raise or a move to a larger, more lucrative, facility to manage. She’s that good.
The location is within walking distance of most of the top spots in Key West. We easily walked (they have bicycles to rent if you prefer) to Southern Point, the Butterfly Conservatory, Truman Little White House, Hemmingway House, Mallory Square, and of course the activity on Duval Street.
Ambrosia is located in a quiet shaded spot. We were on the second floor that has a covered veranda, with chairs, extending across our room that overlooks the “lap” pool. What a great place to relax. There is another small secluded pool at the back of the lot. Both pools are very nice.
The room:
*The room has a 32” flat screen which, unfortunately, has no premium movie channels.
*Coffee maker (Keurig).
*Fridge
*Microwave
*Blow dryer
*Safe
*Iron and board.
*It also has an oversize shower.
*Robes are also provided in the closet.
A few things are still affected by COVID restrictions but these should change in the future. The coffee and “breakfast” at the gazebo by the pool is on a hiatus and substituted with a small breakfast selection delivered to your door in the morning. Coffee is in the room but you can help yourself to the Keurig cups in the office if needed. In addition to this, they do not make up the room if you’re there for multiple days.
We really enjoyed our stay and will try to stay here again when we come back, on the KW Express (next time).
Enjoy!

Good morning. Regarding the breakfast options, we had to stop breakfast in 2020 due to Covid restrictions. During that time we established a bagged breakfast with a cold or hot option as well as daily $5.00 coupons good at either Sarabeth's or Keys Coffee, both right in the neighborhood. In 2021 when distancing was less of a problem we wanted to start the breakfast again but we found that we did not have the staffing to do so. Unfortunately, we have barely enough help to maintain housekeeping so we have had to contiinue that way into 2022. We would very much like to start again but this problem is throughout the hospitality and restaurant industry in Key West. Some restaurants open only 4-5 days a week instaed of 7 and others serve only 1-2 meals a day instaed of 3. Ihope that answers your question.

Not that I know of. We did see several heats with dogs there, although they were little pups and not ginormous ones. I will say the rooms are pretty delicately decorated so there might be, but I would definitely call and ask. The ladies who work at the front desk are helpful beyond reason so I’m sure they’d answer your question without hesitation.

We welcome guests of all ages, but Florida law mandates that at least one adult age 21+ is the person who rents the room. I hope this helps.
