The Reach Key West, Curio Collection by Hilton garners appreciation for its beachfront presence and stellar location near Duval Street and local attractions. However, the sentiment regarding value is less favorable, with numerous guests finding the room rates steep considering the quality of amenities offered. While some visitors relish clean and roomy accommodations, others encounter issues with noise, smells, and upkeep. The hotel's ambiance and service receive a polarized response, oscillating between commendations for lively entertainment and great vistas, and criticisms of inadequate lighting and inconsistent service.

This was our first stay at this hotel, and we wanted to try it out because it has it's on a beach and has a pool area. We were not disappointed! Check-in was quick with a professional and friendly staff. They also provided free water bottles which is great when it's 80+ degrees out. We had two rooms, both with a king bed and pullout. Our room's AC unit broke twice, and the staff showed up quickly both times to address the problem. When we arrived, the elevator was broken so we had to walk to the other side of the hotel, take that elevator, and then walk to our room. The elevator was fixed the following day. This place has a 'motel/condo' kind of feel, with access to the rooms from the outside. Our family group had two rooms; the first had a view of the pool/beach and the second had a view of a road behind the hotel. Housekeeping service was inconsistent...sometimes they'd show and other times not. When they did clean it was minimally trash and towel replacement. If you want your beds made up, you have to specifically request it. We did and sometimes it still wasn't done. We needed a blanket for the pullout and called twice to have it delivered and it never happened. The hotel has a nice (simple) fitness center, with towels and showers.

The Key Reach is located at the southern end of Duval, which is a great location for seeing all the downtown KW sites. There is no shuttle service, but you don't really need it.

The beach area is great, and you get food and drink service (just push a button on your umbrella and staff will appear). They were particularly busy one afternoon and it took us an hour to get 6 drinks...but the staff apologized and comp'd the drinks for us. The onsite restaurant and bar are nice but not cheap, so be prepared for $15 drinks.

The hotel's sister hotel is the Casa Marina (.5 mile away) and you can go there as well and share their amenities.

All in all, we love this place and would definitely stay here again!

I was concerned about staying here because of the mixed reviews, but overall we were pleased with our stay. This is an older property, but so is everything in Key West. If you are looking for fancy and fabulous this is not the place to visit. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, the lobby is quite small but does have a sitting area and refreshing ice water with cucumber & orange slices. The location is great and there are numerous shops and restaurants within an easy 10-15 minute walk. We had no problem with check-in or checking out of the hotel and found most things to be adequate. The grounds were well maintained. Our one bedroom oceanfront suite was nice, but nothing fancy. Rm 443. It did have a great view of the ocean at one end of the balcony, but the largest view was the ugly junky yard of the house next door. I wish we had been told that and given the opportunity to choose a different room. Housekeeping did come each day and we made sure to leave a nice tip so that they would. They did not clean the floors, but did do the basics of tidying things up and leaving clean towels, coffee, etc. The only problems we had with our room was that the lightbulb was burned out above the sink, but it was quickly replaced our first day there, and a piece of the shower frame fell from the ceiling because they had installed it with screws that were too short. They did not repair it while we were there but it was not an issue. The grounds of the hotel are well maintained, however the pool was quite cloudy and we chose not to swim in it. Several other reviews have mentioned the smell outside, and I agree, but it is due to the large amounts of seaweed that wash up this time of the year and that is out of their control. They maintained the small beach area well and had beach service to set up loungers with umbrellas and towels. The ocean was full of seaweed and we chose not to get in, however it would have been a nice if we could. I learned that Key West is not the place to go if you are primarily wanting to enjoy the beach and ocean. Other ocean front areas are too rocky to get in the water. We did take a wonderful sunset cruise and had the opportunity to enjoy the ocean. Over all, everything in Key West is expensive, but we do feel like the price of this hotel room was much too high for what is offered. We did not eat at anywhere on the property as we heard from others that the food was not very good and is very overpriced. I chose this hotel because I it was the only one I found with a sandy beach, but it turned out that I couldn’t enjoy the ocean this time of the year, so there would be no reason to return to this hotel.

This is not your typical Hilton hotel. It looks like it was purchased by Hilton with rooms with front doors that open to the outside. There appeared to be some ongoing maintenance issues like one elevator off the lobby was broken the whole time we were there. It is in an excellent location only a few blocks from Duval Street and the southernmost point in the continental US. It is the only hotel in Key West with a private white sand beach and that beach is awesome. Our room was spacious and adequately decorated but not what you usually expect from a Hilton. We had a large balcony with a view of the beach. They really scrimp on the TP quality so I would suggest bringing your own. The hand lotion, shampoo, body wash are large bottles attached to the walls. I hate this and would much rather prefer small unattached bottles.
The staff was friendly and helpful. This was our honeymoon and we returned to our room one day to find a nice card and a chilled bottle of Prosecco, The Four Marlins restaurant had good food and the best key lime pie ever. The coffee in the Sand and Sea gift shop was mediocre but other places were so close that we just walked a few blocks for a good cup of Cuban coffee. There is only one swimming pool and there were more children than I liked so we used the beach more.
There is another Hilton hotel, Casa Marina, a few blocks away and you have privileges at that hotel too. Casa Marina has an adults only pool and a family pool. It looks like your more traditional Hilton. However, the beach at Casa Marina is terrible. It is too rocky to walk on and there was a lot of broken glass on the beach.
If I were going to stay in Key West again, I would still stay at The Reach mostly because of the beach.

This is a great resort feeling hotel for a relaxing getaway. The beach was lovely, the "cabana boys" were just right on top of noticing you were looking for a chair and brought towels and setup umbrellas swiftly. Stephanie and Lilly the two pool/beach hostesses were very quick with drinks and worked their tails off, always with a smile. The bartender Brian was great, always smiling and efficient. The food at Four Marlins was very good, fries and flank steak were great for dinner. We asked for early checkin but that wasn't the case, a bit after check in time (we had been up since 3am and just wanted to settle into our room) I had to go to the desk. First room overlooked the parking garage a bit and I called to say this is not what we wanted for our honeymoon. Ashley promptly moved us to a room overlooking the resort, ah, it was paradise. We took an Uber everywhere and man those guys came in a few minutes. We ate across the island at Blue Heaven and Viva Saloon which were excellent. It was a great place to stay and we will never forget our honeymoon!

My husband and I are loyal Hilton customers. We were a little wary booking our stay at The Reach based on reading some of the reviews from the past couple years. HOWEVER we are so glad we did! From the welcoming text messages and the friendly valet service to the bar/restaurant/pool/beach service, we had an amazing visit. Valet parking and resort fees were communicated well and our daily food & beverage credit was a nice offset. We were treated well by all staff. The eggs benedict and crab cakes were two of favorites. We only ate breakfast and lunch on-site. The Four Marlins restaurant serves all drinks and meals and is gorgeously designed. We’ll have totry dinner there another stay. This hotel is located perfectly because you have the quiet oceanfront location and are a short walk from the stops of the Duval Loop (the free air-conditioned bus that circles Duval Street). For improvements, I would suggest to management some small maintenance to rooms (like a missing piece of baseboard in the bathroom and a crack in the ceiling above the curtain). These are very minor and would not prevent us from staying there again. This was our 5th time visiting Key West and The Reach (along with their staff) helped make it one of the best so far!

We chose this hotel because of its typical Los Cayos style, and because according to the photographs it has a pretty nice beach, one of the few on the island. A few days ago there had been sargassum, they cleaned the beach, but they left it in a nearby area. The horrible smell on the beach was unbearable, nauseating, I think they should have taken it to another place in a truck. In short, the beautiful beach could not be enjoyed. In addition to that, the second day they did not clean the room, at 4:30 in the afternoon I made the complaint, they did not come either, I complained again at 6 in the afternoon, and only at 7 did they go to clean and put clean towels. A shame, I don't recommend it

Vacationers beware the rooms that they call a room with a view is actually rooms with rooftops. If you sit on the sofa in the very corner, you may get a birds iview of the pool area and the beach, but definitely not sitting on the sofa in the middle or in your bed in your bed, you look at other people’s balconies rooftops, and a parking lot. The staff here is very unaccommodating. The manager doesn’t really care to help you. They do not go out of their way for their vacationers and I would never stay here again. They act like they’re doing your favors. We paid for an upgraded room, the girl at the front desk who seemed like she was nice, but not really. Acted like she was doing us a favor and upgrading our room even further because we have a card that gets she actually downgraded us and ruined our stay. It is not only our anniversary we don’t get to get away that often we haven’t had a vacation in two years and they ruined it for us. Just the initial experience here I would rate a two star if that I definitely would not be coming back here ever again, and I urge every vacationer to really think long and hard before staying at this hotel. I am very upset and don’t like the way they’ve treated us. Their management does not believe in Customer Service at all. She acted like I was bothering her and I was complaining about something that I had no right to complain about this is actually my first time complaining about a hotel ever. I’m just really tired of people, taking advantage of people and not doing the job that they’re hired to do. They should refund my difference of a regular room versus a upgraded room with a view and they should offer that but they would never do that. My credit card company even called and said she did not get very much different than I got they should definitely not be a part of the American Express hotel collection. They should be part of the American Express hotel rejection.
Sorry for this long winded review but I am very upset. They ruined my anniversary and my time here that I’m coming for a family friends wedding as well. I really wish they cared more about the people that stay at their hotel but I guess that’s why they’re only 3.5 stars which is really being generous for them anyway. The girl that acted like she was giving us a better room than what we paid for that’s on their website. Go check out their website and then look at my pictures and see if those are considered rooms with views the same that they show on their website they wouldn’t dare. Sorry, but this is my opinion. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. Maybe you should experience it for yourself hopefully, you’ll have better luck.

What a disappointing stay at The Reach. We’ve been to Key West quite a few times, and are well aware that luxury isn’t really attainable here in terms of hotel accommodations. Thus, my expectations were reasonable. We’ve stayed at Ocean Key, Southernmost, & The Marker. All were much better choices than The Reach. We stayed here because I had a free night stay through Hilton, against my better judgement. Hotel Prices in KW are so exorbitant, it’s just seemed like a prudent choice…I wish I would have gone with my gut. Despite the advertised recent updating, The Reach is dirty, worn-down, and very cheap feeling. Our ‘resort view’ room looked directly over a parking lot…and they touted that as our Gold Member “upgrade”. No robes, cheap towels, crappy toiletry products, and the toilet paper at the airport was better than this hotel. Housekeeping was bad and not dependable - I had to leave notes to get things like clean towels and more hand soap. The beach view is nice, and was the one upside, but the pool is small and common areas are dingy and not kept well. The staff was nice enough, no one was rude…but no one stood out as incredible either. Wait staff at restaurant and around pool were pretty bad. Both waitresses we had were forgetful, barely present, and generally incompetent. We WILL be back to Key West, as it’s one of our favorite places, but we will NOT be staying at The Reach. It definitely doesn’t live up to the standard of Curio Hilton. The bad reviews are warranted, learn from my mistake and book elsewhere.

I just spent two nights over the weekend at The Reach, I never questioned the $970 USD per night I was paying, I travel a lot, all over the world and always stay at the best places regardless of the price. For whatever reason I end up at this place which based on the price and the fact that is a Curio Collection hotel, I had a high expectation. As soon as I checked in, the reality hit me, not just when I saw that this is nothing but a cheap motel in a great location, with a recent but cheap renovation. The real disappointment started with the rude attitude at the front desk, specifically, bunt not only, by the reception manager Dayan. The rooms are noisy (because you are literally on top of an open car garage);the room hallways are unfinished and dirty and with all the pipes espoused (just like if it was "the back of the house"). The decoration of the rooms is cheap, the lighting in the room uses cold lights that makes you feel in a hospital. The minibar is empty. Housekeeping is late and inconsistent. The pool is rather small and do not support the guests needs when the hotel is full etc. Clearly this hotel doesn't meet the brand promise ( Curio), actually is a disservice to the brand, but what I find unacceptable is the rudeness from the staff. Like if they do not need to treat the guests nicely just because. But I learned why: this is the culture coming from the top.
After I requested to speak with the General Manager Anderson Broderek ( 4:00 pm on a Friday) and the front-desk manager said he was not on the property, I wrote him an e-maiI, then decided to call his cell phone. I explained to him my bad check -in experience. He said he would look into it and get back to me, but he didn't. I wrote him again but still did not get back to me. That explains the culture of this hotel. If the General Manager, after listening to a guest who is a Dimond level on Hilton Honors and is paying rack rate ($970 USD per night) does not respond to his guests, why would anyone else on the staff would treat the guests any better?
It comes from the top.
No need to go to this place to truly enjoy the friendliness of Key West elsewhere.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel over memorial weekend with good friends of ours. For the amount of money we paid and it being a Hilton, we were very disappointed in our trip.

Only one elevator worked for the first few days. The last couple of days of our trips both elevators were broken. I had a broken ankle and when I asked about another elevator I was told "Stairs can get you to the 4th floor."

We rented a cabana at the sister property and had barely any service from the waitress. Each time we had to flag her down. We ordered food and it was dropped off without silverware. When we asked about silverware it was like we were putting her out. For what we paid for the cabana it was a very disappointing experience.

We had requested housekeeping for 2 of the days we were there. On Saturday housekeeping didn't come to our room. We ran out of towels on Monday and had scheduled for that day. We get back to our room around 4pm after being gone all day and no housekeeping. My husband went to the front desk to get towels and ask for housekeeping to come after 6:30 as we were getting ready to head out to dinner. 20 minutes later we have a knock at our door and it's housekeeping.

The one bright spot was the bartender Bobby at the restaurant. He was very friendly, and helpful. The other waitresses around the pool area, not so much. They were very short with not just us but other guests.

We checked out on Tuesday morning and the lady at the front desk asked how our stay was. I made a comment like, "Well..." and her only response was, "Yeah challenging?" No, "Sorry to hear that."

The grounds are nice, however some of the rooms are less than desirable. Our friends room had a heavy smell of pot due to their lovely neighbors. Front desk wasn't helpful as their response was "we are booked."

Is the pool heated? Reviews seem contradictory.
