We had a great stay at Hutchinson Shores. The hotel is beautiful and clean, staff is very friendly - housekeeping was prompt every day. The beach and pool was perfect for our kids (2 and 5). The food was great, and the kitchenette suite was convenient for our family. We will definitely be back!

Firstly HUGE shout out to Melanie!!! Best front desk receptionist ever! Tried to make a last second reservation and sat on hold and getting bounced back to front desk for 45 minutes and transferred back to reservations, almost gave up! But last bounce back Melanie said she would make my reservation for me (first time she answered, Jada answered all the other times). She handled all my questions happily and with great professionalism! She was
also the happiest person to check in with! I hope to see her again on our repeat visits, she made our stay!

We arrived at the property and let me just say WOW! Such a nice, clean, welcoming atmosphere. We had a great ground level room with an amazing view of the ocean. Unfortunately there was no privacy because we were in a high traffic area on the ground level where people could see right into our room from the beach entry. The evening was quiet but being right next to the smaller pool we had a hard time napping in the afternoon as we could hear the kids screaming. Next time will request a more private room on a higher floor or further from the pools. (Reason for the missing star to make this a 5 star review) Balconies are huge and the doors are easy to open and close. The bed was a little firm for my fiancé’s taste, I was comfortable, but hey can’t please everyone in that situation. Showers had amazing water pressure, and hot hot hot hot water! Not to mention the soap they provide was amazing quality, met other people during our stay who wanted to bring it home with them also.
Room service was amazing! We went with that because we couldn’t get a reservation at the restaurants, 5 Star meal comfy in our robes, which is what we really wanted, to relax. So tip #1make your reservations in advance and know gratuity is added to the room service tab already. I over tipped but oh well! I’m sure they could use it after the covid stuff.
We arrived late so in the morning we requested a late check out to enjoy the resort. They happily obliged and never once did we have a mix up with housekeeping trying to kick us out as I’ve seen and heard happen too many times at other properties.
All amenities were gorgeous, and well maintained despite guests not cleaning up after themselves.
Comp chairs for the private beach. Umbrellas are extra. The beach was gorgeous with crystal clear water.
We had the pleasure of meeting WILLIAM the valet at the end of our stay. He recommended our new jenson beach breakfast spot and nailed it! So happy to help and recommend. He was super helpful and chipper, which really started our morning right.
Overall very happy with our stay! We will be repeat guests and can’t wait.

What a delightful hotel! The property is well designed and maintained, in both the public and private spaces, and the staff is well trained and welcoming. I attended the meeting of an industry organization there and the meeting spaces were nicely scaled for our group of about 70 people. The AV worked well and the food and drinks were well prepared and stylishly served. Great location for smaller meetings or weddings.

Went for Memorial Day Weekend for our Anniversary. Prior to arrival my wife made reservations in the restaurant on the phone the agent had a 5:30 hightop table or 8:30 for a regular table. We chose the 8:30 reservation. We arrived on Saturday and drove upto the front of the hotel and asked the attendant where we could self park? He said to park across the street. We went across the street there was another attendant that asked us for a parking permit so we asked how to get a parking permit? He said you have to check in then come back to park. We drove back to the hotel entrance, we checked in, got the permit and went back to park across the street. All of this for no reason had the attendant just communicated to us when we asked originally. Drinks by the pool very expensive and not good quality. Vegas is cheaper. We went to sit on the beach at 5pm and the attendants told us they were closing down and removing all the chairs. At 8:30 we went to the restaurant for dinner the host took us to our table, a hightop in the bar which we never asked for the bar area and did not want a hightop. Felt so disrespected and especially our Anniversary dinner. We asked for a different table of which they had other empty tables and the hostess replied that is all that they have. We left the hotel and got dinner somewhere else. They ruined our plan but I cannot deny they said sorry on our way out. On Monday morning before checkout we received a text on our phone to return the room keys and the rubber pool wristbands which cannot be worth more than 10 cents. I always give back the room keys to any hotel I stay because it is the right thing to do, but I never receive a text demanding they be returned. The weirdest thing in this hotel they call it a resort, its just a hotel. The bar shutdown at 9pm and there is 0 nightlife and when you enter the hotel your cell phone will have no signal unless you sign up for the wifi for 1 free day and then $10 each day after that. If you are not a dog lover this hotel is not for you. I have never seen this many dogs in a hotel. They did a good job remodeling the hotel but communication and service horrible. We will never go back.

Paid a lot for an oceanfront room. When we checked in we were offered a breakfast plan for $38/day - breakfast for 2 people will run you at least $55 add tax and tip. Hotel next door offers free breakfast.

If you're looking to do anything besides sleeping or eating at this establishment, know this:

Beach umbrella will run you $20, $150 for a beach bed. If you have a guest they'll charge $10 for the extra chair.

Room service took 45 minutes, delivered in take-out boxes in a shopping bag, food is cold, overcooked and expensive. $16 for 2 cups of coffee served in 8 oz. hot cups.

Some of the wait staff is rude and seemed inconvenienced when asked for utensils that weren't on the table when our food was.

One named "Flo" argued with us about the ratio of juice/seltzer. - On the other hand a professional waitress named Christina was excellent so if you get stuck here, ask for her.

We will not be returning.

It's not enough to gouge guests for food and drink but when our party of 4 went to the pool restaurant to order food and drinks , after waiting easily 20 minutes for a server, we were rudely and loudly advised by a "manager" that we couldn't have outside beverages with us. Could have been done discreetly and with a little tact but I guess some people need to flout their "authority" Two of us were finishing a beer that we had brought from the beach and we had a thermos bag of some resort supplied bottles of water on ice. I guess they were upset that we didn't buy more water from them even though I believe we paid for their water on some lever at $300 a night. We cancelled our dinner reservations for 4 immediately after that encounter thinking our good money would be better spent at another establishment for dinner. From that point until we left bad, bad attitude from the 20 minute late waitress. Could not utilize the Jacuzzi. They advertise that they have a jacuzzi by the pool, but what they don't tell you is that it is exclusively used as a wading pool for toddlers, the whole day. Heard multiple other people complaining about that. We were sitting on lounge chairs away from the kid noise and my wife asked one of the staff if they could open an umbrella for us. He said he didn't know how to work it and would send someone over to help. Still waiting for the help. And they so proudly tell you that beach lounge chairs are included in the resort fee, but when you ask for a chair with an umbrella there is a extra charge. Really? I have a property on Hutchinson island and am always recommending places to stay for friends and family, and this place will be permanently off my list.

Honestly the room and hotel is clean and nice. It’s situated right on the beach which was great not having to drive. There is so much potential for this resort but it lacks. Checkin was smooth and easy but valet was annoying because we just wanted to get the car and go. Beach staff was also great. The customer service at the restaurant really lacks. I was ignored so many times when I wanted to order something or they just weren’t around. I was also told that on the 3rd day I would get my room cleaned and I had to call 3 times to ask. They told me they were at capacity and couldn’t clean my room. After my third call to bring me some fresh towels, they finally came in and cleaned. Using covid as an excuse is really frustrating especially when you’re staying for more then 3 days and should have the sheets and towels changed. We ordered room service every day but it was not amazing. The food was thrown in a box half the time and it just felt like they didn’t care. Also the pool was closed most of the days we were there and the only one open was the very small one which was always overly crowded and we couldn’t use it.

If you want a clean room and beach access, this is your hotel. If you want some service you probably won’t be getting it here. I’ve stayed at other opal resorts and had way better service.

Response from Ed Griffith, General Manager at Hutchinson Shores Resort & Spa
Responded 5 Apr 2021
travel4girls, My apologies for the disappointment. Cleaning of the rooms has been a challenge since the start of the Pandemic. While I understand that it may seem like an excuse for not cleaning your room. Please remember that our staff are just as hesitant to enter your room as some guests are to have us clean. However, we do clean approximately every three days, but only to guests that want that service. Please come back and visit so we can show you that what you experienced was the exception not the rule.

Three day staycation at Hutchinson Shores Resort and Spa. The resort is located in a great beachfront location on Hutchinson Island. Close to a major causeways on to Jensen's Beach and the city of Stewart, Florida. The staff, from the valet parking, the front desk, housekeeping, restaurant and beach were friendly and accommodating.
We had a fourth floor oceanfront room (427) that had a nautical décor to the extent that the bathroom door had a porthole in it. Room was large with a king size bed and the bathroom was spacious with a walk in shower. Our stay included breakfast and there were plenty of good choices. We did not eat any other meals in the hotel as we wanted to try some of the other recommended oceanfront/outdoor dining places. A nice perk that came with the daily resort fee was that each floor had a canteen that was stocked with water, bags of ice, a variety of fruit in the morning, and chocolate chip cookies in the afternoon. The resort fee also included two beach chairs, but a charge for the umbrella. In my opinion the umbrella should have been included. It is Florida after all and you could not use your own. All in all a very nice hotel and would recommend it without hesitation. Since we only live an hour away from Hutchinson Island it was a perfect place for our getaway.

This hotel has a nautical spa-like feel. Ryan at the reception desk was very helpful at check in to get us an oceanview room. The Drift Restaurant is very convenient and we had dinner there on two evenings. Reservations are needed. On each floor there is a pantry with water bottles available all day and chocolate chip cookies set out at 5:00 pm and fruit in the morning. The larger pool is in a good location which is protected from the wind. It is a lovely setting. The sand at Jensen Beach is brown in color, not the white sand like some beaches. We were able to walk to the CVS pharmacy from the hotel as well as the Strawberry Deli for an ice cream soda. One day we took a drive to the historic downtown area of Stuart which has nice shops.

My husband and I had stayed at this property previously. That experience was wonderful so we were eager to go back for our anniversary trip. The property is in a beautiful spot. Unfortunately, we were sorely disappointed this trip.

Before coming I inquired about wine and strawberries for our room. Was flatly told "NO, we don't do anything like that." Odd as a "Romance Package" was offered on the site and both items were on the restaurant menu.

Breakfast at the hotel was approximately 1 1/2 hours for delivery for an omlet and a bagel. They allow dogs in the outdoor area and their was one at the table next to use who decided to relieve himself of his own breakfast while we were waiting for ours. VERY UNSANITARY! Dogs should not be allowed in restaurants areas. Did not order again from their kitchen.

Beach was crowded as was the pool with people literally rubbing elbows. Two pools on site, one should be dedicated to children/families. Experience was so unromantic that we literally could not wait to get off property and go to a local beach the next day.

Resort fee was supposed to include fresh fruit and cookies daily in the pantry area. Never saw fruit there until the last morning. only an empty basket. Bartender did not know how to make a Mai Tai (or anything else) without a book?? No cream or sugar in our room for use with the Keurig as is standard practice most places.

Asked about room service as the information we were given said they would service upon request. Was told they would not until the 3rd day, the day we were leaving. indicated by another reviewer, they simple did not seem to care.

We will look for other options in the area next visit. This one was a huge disappointment. Shame as the property itself is beautiful as is the area.
