The Hyatt Place Fort Lauderdale Cruise Port & Convention Center receives praise for its prime location near the airport and cruise port, as well as the hotel's overall cleanliness. However, opinions on service and value are mixed; while some guests commend the staff's friendliness and the convenience of the shuttle service, others express disappointment with the high rates and room conditions. Although the amenities are generally satisfactory, the need for modernization in certain areas is a recurring point of criticism.

This was an easy to locate hotel, rooms were quiet, tastefully decorated, very clean and divided into different areas so both work and sleep could go on at the same time. There was plenty of parking with easy entrance and exit onto main roads and shuttle to the port (and airport if you're flying in). the staff was pleasant and was very helpful; a very good experience after a long drive .What more could you want? Oh yes, breakfast included. While this was somewhat restricted by covid-19 concerns they still provided a more than adequate meal.
No complaints whatsoever.
What more could we ask for? Oh yes, breakfast included.

Returned to Hyatt Place 3 months after a couple of stays in March on business. The welcome from staff was very friendly and the room spacious and clean with useful fridge & wet bar. Wifi worked well throughout the hotel. For vaccinated guests, the rule on mask wearing is relaxed, but it was good to see sanitizer stations around. Breakfast is still pick-up & go items, but this time we didn't carry them to our room, but felt comfortable enough to take our time in the dining area over good coffee & hot muffins. This one was a short stay, but the hotel is firmly top of the list for future visits.

This location was close to a variety of restaurants (Outback, seafood restaurants) and stores (Publix, clothing stores). It was easy to walk to many of these. The main street (about a block away) was very busy, but it felt safe to walk in this area.

The check in process was good. The staff were helpful when I asked questions about the area. The room was well appointed and clean. The shuttle service to and from the airport was an added bonus to this gem of a property.

If you are cruising out of Port Everglades this is a nice hotel. It is clean and comfortable for the money and very close to port. Good shopping options close by as well. Shuttle service to port was also quick, well organized and convenient for the $7 per person fee. Will stay again next time I’m sailing out of Port Everglades.

This was our second time at this hotel as a pre-cruise stay. We stayed back in April 2017. We like that the hotel is conveniently located near a Publix and are able to get any last second items for a cruise. The biggest improvement I noted is that the A/C unit was much quieter than our first stay. I'm not sure if this is dependent on the room but we stayed on the top floor and it appears that a newer GE unit was installed. The bed itself was super comfortable and the setup for the TV is great in that the HDMI port is easily accessible and you can comfortably watch your own shows/movies on the large couch that is included in each room.

I also appreciated because of my status with Hyatt, the front desk gave us a later check-out time. We didn't even think to ask and the desk offered it as soon as we checked in. It was great since it allowed us to avoid the large lines on our cruise embarkation day and basically we were able to walk immediately on the ship.

The only negatives I can think of are that one of the elevators was out of service. This caused some hold ups with everyone getting ready for their cruises. In an email post stay, management told me they were waiting on a part. The other negative was that there was very little seating for breakfast and that warm items like eggs were on the cold side by the time we ate (about 9 am on a Saturday).

Overall, it was a good stay, and we will be sure to come to this hotel again for our next cruise.

The property has updates like the TV's and AC that are happening along with other improvements coming soon! We apologize about the elevator, again, and hope you understand that if we had the means to repair quicker we would have to efficiently serve our guests. I look forward to greeting you on your future stay with the property, hopefully soon!

This hotel offers airport shuttle, which is a huge benefit. Many restaurants can be walked to as well as stores such as Dollar Tree, grocery store, etc. There is also a Trolley that can take you a short ride to the Beach.... The hotel will arrange the cruise port shuttle and if you are looking for an additional excursion, the same shuttle service "Avanti Shuttle" will arrange that as well if you contact them separately. We did an Airboat ride and Debora of Avanti shuttle was very kind and easy to work with in making this arrangement.

The location is convenient to FLL airport and the cruise terminal. It is also within walking distance to a grocery store and some restaurants and bars. Las Olas beach is about a 10 minute drive and also convenient.

The rooms are pretty outdated and the shower tub/toilet room is about as tiny as humanly possible. If you are large, elderly or have mobility problems, you will have difficulty using the restroom. The halogen light also does not light up the area well at all so you are showering in dim light. The only good thing about the bathroom is that the water pressure is intense. I also do not care for the communal soap and shampoo in those locked up cannisters no matter how green it is to not have individual hygiene bottles.

The living room is huge for some reason. Amble space for a small gathering even though space would have been better utilized for the bed area or bathroom. The bed is surprisingly above average for comfort.

The staff is decent enough, but the breakfast is very poor at Hyatt Places. The quality has surely declined over the past few years. It used to be at least adequate to eat, but now the food is so subpar, I cannot get value out of the "free" breakfast when I am forced to eat elsewhere. The elevators are also super slow so I ended up taking the stairs from the 4th floor half the time.

Overall, if you are just using it as a pit stop for your real vacation for a night, then it will check the box. Any longer and I would seek alternate locations.

Thanks for your review, K0vi! We appreciate you giving us a try and appreciate the feedback. I would love to hear specifically what you felt was lacking with our breakfast offerings, as this is certainly an anomaly for us to hear. We offer a wide variety of breakfast items from eggs, sausage, bacon, fresh fruit, an assortment of breads, cereals, juices, etc...and we typically are given high praises for our breakfast. We are disappointed that it missed the mark for you. As for our room layout, we are a conversion property and until we receive a room renovation (very soon!), we won't be able to make structural changes to our building. We hope you give us another opportunity to regain your confidence in the future. Be well!

I stayed here 2 nights March 24 to 25'th and this was my second stay. I stayed here for the first time last year. The hotel has a friendly fast airport shuttle that picks you up. The driver I think his name was Julio was very friendly and courteous. The room was very clean and I like the many charging outlets they have. Bed was super comfy and the breakfast was great. There were many beverages and food items to choose from.
The location is awesome. It's only a $8 Uber of Lyft ride to the Los Olas Beach and there is a Publix grocery store right across from the parking garage. Manhattan NY Pizza is amazing. I highly recommend it and also there is a great Mexican restaurant in the same shopping plaza. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town. Keep up the good work.

Hyatt Place Ft. Lauderdale/17th Street/Convention Center denied me to stay there even I had reservation because they are pet friendly but only for dogs but not for cats. So they denied me for my reservation and stay there because of my pet that should be a dog but not a cat and charged me for that reservation stay anyway even additional weird price too. I had to stay on the street for two days which they charged me anyway so I stayed on the street with my home cat for two days and two nights even I had reservation and I knew is pet friendly but they denied because this place only pet friendly for dogs but not for cats even cat is living inside home and not walking on streets as a dog. I couldn't find any different place where to stay because of busyness and fullness of all hotels because of spring break time and very high prices so I had to stay on the street for these reserved two days even they charged for that even additional weird price too just because I have a cat by their policy pet friendly I should have a dog not a cat.

Thank you for your review, liliya2021. I apologize that there was a miscommunication regarding our hotel's pet policy. Our Pet Policy is clearly stated on Hyatt.com as well as other online booking sites and states that we accept dogs up to 75 pounds. Unfortunately, due to the risk for allergens/dander and how they affect a lot of people, we are unable to accept cats and this is consistent with all Hyatt hotels. Again, we apologize that there was any confusion.

The hotel has ample parking, but note that within 5 mins. safe walking distance are the Harbordale shops which includes Publix, a wine store, restaurants and massage & nail salons. The staff were superb in handling the influx of visitors from the Gulf Coast escaping Hurricane Ian and were friendly & helpful. The large clean rooms with mini fridge & wet bar + large TV with movie options made it very comfortable during the 4 days spent on this visit. The freshly cooked breakfast and evening bar options were very welcome. This is a firm favorite for my business trips and family visits.

Haven't gotten an answer here but did find out that by the time we stay there, the shuttle is no longer associated with the hotel so the price will be much higher. Not very nice of them to do this with no warning. Might have picked a better place to stay.

Answer from PTW_MN

No, take a shuttle/uber.
Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Sorry for the delayed response. Both of the answers below are correct. We do offer an airport shuttle which costs $5 per room (not per person) and this gets billed to your room. Once you have collected your bags, please call the shuttle company at 954-655-1376. Unfortunately, the cruise port shuttle fee has increased to $9 per person, you may sign up for it at check in. This gets paid to the driver directly via cash or credit card.

Does this property have connecting rooms?
Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Good Afternoon Isa65Curacao, Yes, we do offer connecting rooms. The set up is typically 2 double beds on each side or 2 double beds on one side and an accessible room on the other side. The hotel only has 12 sets of rooms that adjoin in the entire hotel, so you may add the request to your reservation, but unfortunately we cannot guarantee it.
