At the Pelican Grand Beach Resort, guests are often charmed by the relaxing atmosphere, underscored by live music and breathtaking ocean vistas. However, some visitors have raised concerns about the noise from ceiling fans, traffic, and machinery. Opinions on value are mixed, with praise for the beachfront locale but criticism of high fees. Room cleanliness is generally good, but inconsistent housekeeping and the need for updates are drawbacks. While some guests commend the spacious rooms and helpful staff, others are disappointed by slow service and maintenance oversights.

This was an extraordinary experience that i didn't get to have for myself!

I sent my mom and aunt here a few days before I met them for a cruise...they were beside themselves and said that they've never had such a beatiful room, exceptionally friendly room attendant and staff, food that was worth only eating at the hotel and not going elsewhere, and beachside relaxation with a view to die for.

Can't say enough for how pleased they were and if I could swing the expense for Feb 2024, i'd do it for them again! (a bit pricey for me, called for lots of savings, but if you can definitely do it!!)

We had a great time at Pelican! We had some room issues the first night but the night staff made room accomadations and therefore deserve credit for their hard work. I normally don't write reviews but felt some reviews did not do this resort justice that I read before vacationing. ALL Staff were friendly! I want to give a shout out to Brian from the pool/beach staff who worked hard cleaning common use things like chair surfaces, giving plenty of towels for chairs, even warm towels after unexpected rain storms. Suite was great, food was delicious, and everything was on site to enjoy so did not feel the need to venture or rent a car. Even saw dolphins while enjoying dinner one night! Thank you Pelican for a great stay that had plenty to offer everyone.

This is my 3rd visit from the UK due to the 1st two visits being simply fantastic. Unfortunately on this occasion I noticed some flaws that i'd like to raise with the management team as this has probably made my mind up regarding a potential 4th visit.

1. The pool/beach guys need to cheer up and put a smile on their face. Every time i asked for either beach chairs or a towel, it was as if I had just insulted them or told them to run a mile for me. Almost as if it was an inconvenience that they have to give me a towel/chair. Completely unprofessional and unwelcoming, this was not the case on my previous 2 visits.

2. The new mobile valet parking app is slower than the old process, on my previous 2 visits when we asked the valet guys for my car it would arrive normally within a minute or 2. On this mobile app the average time to deliver the car was over 2 or 3 minutes, this isn't a major complaint but I feel the older process was more efficient.

3. On the previous 2 visits, there is always an unexpected charge on the checkout bill, on this occasion the resort fee was overcharged and there was also some lunches added on which we never had. I think this is an easy to make some money on the guests who don't read the room charge statement as like i said the exact same thing happened on my last visit.

Apart from these issues, our stay was rather pleasant. We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel restaurant and both were to a very high standard with some great flavours. Pool and lazy river was very relaxing and nicely heated. Hotel was well decorated for Christmas with the tree and gingerbread hotel. Rooms were very clean and nicely renovated, although our fan on the roof made a rattling noise so we kept it off. Lovely ocean view balcony which did not disappoint every morning.

I will be thinking very carefully before booking my next trip to Florida and I hope that these comments are taken on board to avoid other clients losing trust in Pelican Grand.

We have the best category room ocean view small balcony in this hotel
The bathroom is nice bright Colors and 2 sinks but the floor was dirty with a lot of hair from previous client on the floor.
Room on 5 th floor very noisy because Ice machine made lot of noise in front of our door and I could not sleep at nights
The elevators just in front provide also a lot of noise with people coming in / out.
The floor in the lobby and breakfast room very dirty & slippery.
The breakfast is very expensive because they charge every plate à la carte. I was asking
For 1 squeezed lemon and they were unable to provide it. No toasts ....either - just possible if you
Take eggs.
Valet Parking very expensive 40 $ per day
The cleaning Lady was knocking many Times at our door because we were not opening the door quickly enough in the morning ....
But the bed is excellent and the view from the hotel very beautiful
Nice live music on Saturday night .
Staff is in general very helpful except the bellboy who brought the luggage in the room .
No shops or restaurants around or in walking distance; need car or Uber.

We were a party of 6 who were scheduled to go on a Cruise on Saturday March 24th, however with the current pandemic happening our cruise was cancelled, so 1 Couple in our party thought it best to fly back home the remaining two couples decided to stay and finish out our vacation. So, we began a furious search for a place to stay and finish out our vacation.

After hours of searching we found the Pelican Grand and after reading the reviews and seeing the location we decided to migrate.
We were in room 226 Absolutely awesome, we were on the end cap of the hotel 2 King Size Beds very spacious room, sun room and our own balcony. We arrived late afternoon Saturday soaked up the sun and had dinner at the hotel. FYI the Dinner was extremely expensive and really not worth what we spent, we had 4 drinks and 4 sandwiches, Fries and it was around $130.00.

After having Coffee and watching the Sun Rise we decided we may want to stay a bit longer than we first thought. All was going well until Tuesday morning when all the Beaches from Fort Lauderdale to Miami were closed. We assumed because this was a private resort we wouldn’t be affected, but that is not the case.
So, this is where things kind of tanked, the Pool and Lazy river were Over capacity, not to mention it was my understanding that the Pelican sells Day Passes to use their beach and pool. So, you have a Hotel full of guest and also Day Pass guests. The Pool was so filled that the hotel decided to best serve their guests is to put tanning chairs on a hot tile Roof next to us and let their patrons sizzle in the sun, while their work staff had to run up an down 2 flights of stairs then the length of the hotel to serve drinks. Very unethical in my opinion.

The reason I am communicating this to the readers is because, The hotel charges you for the room, the use of the beach, the attendants at the beach who set up your beds, umbrellas, the attendants at the pool for towels, and some of the other amenities in the hotel. Now with the closing of the beach and the over capacity at the pool you would think the hotel would cut the rate to exclude some of the amenities you really don’t have access too or can enjoy. I get it, these are extraordinary circumstances however, how can you charge your guests for something you can’t really service? I emailed the General Manager of the Hotel four Days prior to writing this review in the hopes that there would be a different outcome however, I have not received any response which tells me – what’s done is done.

With that I broke my rating down as fair and as partial as I can be, Rating: 1 – 5 (5 is Best)

Hotel Location: 5
Hotel Front Desk Service: 3
Bar Service: 3
Pool and Amenities: 2
Food: 2
Room: 5

Overall, based on our stay and what we encountered I would rate this a 3.5 – Now of course this was under some not so great circumstances but we feel the Hotel could have done more for the Hotel Guests during the unanticipated shut down of the beaches and amenities.

We had a lovely Seaside Suite with wonderful ocean views. The room was very inviting and comfortable. However, there were so many minor irritations which added up that we left with a less than satisfied feeling for the money we paid. For example, the bathroom door (which is a barn style door) would not stay closed. Why ? We needed Maintenance to come to fix a problem in the bathroom, however we waited almost 3 hours. Why ? We tried to call the Front Desk and also the Operator from the room phone, but nobody ever picked up for the first two days. Why ? We asked for breakfast menu cards for in-room breakfast, but there were none available. Why ? When we arrived with luggage, there was nobody available to help us until the Concierge of all people noticed us struggling. Where were the front desk staff or bellmen? We could go on with several other examples. The hotel restaurant Ocean 2000 has a nice if limited menu, and dining on the veranda is very pleasant and worth a visit. We enjoyed the room very much and the location, but we hope that Management will work on customer service with some of the staff.

We stayed at the Pelican from Dec. 29 to Jan 2. For the prices that were charged during our stay ($400/$500 per night), I can't say that we got our money's worth in terms of a luxury/premium experience. The facilities overall were clean, but customer service and efficiency were severely lacking. During our stay, pool and beach towels were always in extremely short supply. Our first day there, there were none available by lunchtime and this was the case every day of our stay. For the price that we are paying, this should not have been an issue.

The same applies to room towels, one of the days we were only provided ONE large fresh room towel. When we had talked to housekeeping, they again said they were in short supply at the time and that the laundry room was overwhlemed. Again, for the premium pricetag and experience, this should not have been an issue. Totally and utterly unacceptable. I expect this level of unpreparedness from a Motel 6, not a high-end resort hotel that charges $500 /night.

Overall the hotel felt understaffed and that the staff the was working was overwhelmed. Service was extremely slow at the hotel/pool bar. We had to wait over 20 minutes consistently to get served by the waitress/bartender. At one point to, we observed two clearly flustered bar staff arguing with each other behind the bar as they were clearly overwhelmed, while we were waiting patiently for our drink order to be taken. They were not rude to us, but it was surprising seeing staff bicker with each other in a clear disconnect with what the Pelican would seem to market as a premium, relaxing hotel experience.

On that bright side, all of our interactions with hotel staff were pleasant and everyone was very nice. The location can't be beat and the rooms are beautiful. But this was unfortunately overshadowed by the issues highlighted above. We left the Pelican questioning whether we would stay again due to the lack of overall polish in customer service and professionalism.

To begin our stay the very friendly bell captain handled our luggage and stored it until our 3 rooms were available. We arrived at 9am expecting to check in by 3pm and our last room wasn’t available until 4:10 pm. When I’m paying over $400 a night per room I expect it to be ready by check in time.

The horrible dinner experience. We had a party of 9 for dinner and with drinks and dinner we spent over $700. The food was excellent but Tony, our waiter had an attitude and didn’t even ask if we needed a second beverage. We had put out menus on the floor to make room for our appetizers. Tony seem to have too many tables to be able to attend to our Basic needs. Absolutely the worst service I have ever had.
We had a good night sleep and very nice rooms but what a shock to grab a cup of coffee in the emporium and have to pay $3:00 for a cup of basic coffee. It’s clear that this resort is squeezing every penny they can out of their guest and are way under staffed in the restaurant and the housekeeping team. The lobby was packed with people waiting for their rooms and there was so much luggage being held that you couldn’t get around the lobby.
We would strongly suggest you find a resort that is properly staffed. The nice facility doesn’t make up for the poor service

We stayed here for a long weekend Friday-Monday. We chose this rather than the Ritz due to the recent bad reviews of the Ritz and great reviews about Pelican. Unfortunately, our experience was anything but 5 stars. We arrived Friday and based on other reviews requested a room not on the second floor due to the share balcony and without even looking were simply told “we are sold out this weekend”. In the end it probably worked out since there are only 2 elevators for the hotel which were sometimes very busy. Unfortunately, to use the stairs you need to walk outside the hotel.
We were excited to hit the beach but unfortunately by 2 pm the only beach chairs available were saggy and broken. There is actually a grave yard of broken chairs along the property which really should be cleaned up. Also, there were no towels available for approximately and hour. The next day we headed out earlier about 11am but unfortunately due the “sold out” capacity once again we received broken down chairs (see photos) and no umbrellas were available. We did however receive multiple towels to use to “fill in” the saggy chair.
The rooms are nice but I suggestion as others have to request a higher room and one away from the elevators.
Overall, the rooms are nice and the staff is attentive but very short staffed. Management needs to invest in hiring more people and equipment. Our room wasn’t even cleaned by 3pm on Saturday and at that point we just requested clean towels. On Sunday at 2pm we had to call housekeeping to request our room be cleaned.

We booked on Expedia and paid luxury Miami rates thinking this was a luxury hotel. It is not. It’s one step above a very basic hotel. The rooms are large (we booked an ocean suite) and the location on the beach is great, but the pool area is very small. The hotel is small and shows signs of wear in public spaces and in rooms.
There are zero amenities that make this feel like a real beach resort.

Add on a $45 a day valet fee plus resort fee and the price to stay here is ludicrous.

I also received a long text before arriving outlining their strict COVID safety protocols (important to us bcse I have young children who are not vaccinated). But there are absolutely no COVID protocols being practiced at this hotel. None. No masks worn by staff or guests. No social distancing. We were consistently crammed in the elevator with 10 or more people all with no masks. We wore ours but we were literally the only ones in the whole hotel.

Also worth noting that the doors to the rooms are outside so we heard a lot
Of street noise at night on the 8th floor.

Just regular chairs, you find lounge chairs on the beach. I recommend to kart the extra for the sea view, it’s worth it.
