We booked here specifically for the hot tub, even calling ahead to verify it was working properly prior to booking. We were assured it was. Upon checkin, we verified again if it was working and were assured it was. One of us had sore back issues, so really needed this for pain relief. When we made it down to the hot tub, the water was warm enough, but the jets were not operating. We inquired and were told the emergency stop must have been pushed and to try pulling it out. That didn't help. It also wasn't activated in the first place. We were told that they weren't sure if maintenance workers were still on site. Finally letting us know they had already left. We tried again the next morning, desk agent wasn't aware of the issue and would let maintenance know once they arrived. We checked up until checkout, was only told one jet was working. One jet was barely trickling, definitely not working. Small children were using the hot tub as a pool because the pool water was too cold. Additionally, there was only warm water in the shower the morning of checkout, not hot. The bed was comfortable and cleaning staff did a good job. Breakfast was good.

Dear Tammy S, Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us at the Residence Inn by Marriott Amelia Island. We value our guests' feedback as we are always looking for ways to improve our service. It is clear that our communication both with guests and our own team members was lacking during your stay and for that we sincerely apologize. I have followed up with our team and more specifically our Maintenance team to clear up the miscommunication and find a resolve. Our team is working diligently to repair the jets on our hot tub and are currently waiting on backordered parts for the permanent fix. We do hope that should your travels bring you back to the area you would be willing to give us another chance to wow you with an excellent visit. In Hospitality, Bob Hartman General Manager

This is a fairly standard, middle of the road, Residence Inn. The location is walkable to the beach, but it's not a nice walk, and is a horrible walk if you are trying to walk a dog. Narrow sidewalks, several lanes of high speed traffic just a couple of feet away. There is a network of greenway trails accessible from the hotel parking lot. That's a huge plus! This hotel is dog-friendly. I agree with the other reviewers who have said that this hotel doesn't give you any special consideration for having Marriott status. I am Titanium Elite, and they refused to give me a room on a high floor even though they had plenty of rooms available. This hotel falls into the category of hotels charging $150 pet fee, claiming that they do extensive cleaning after a pet stays, then putting pet owners into dirty rooms on low floors that obviously don't get any deep cleaning. This is a practice that seems to be more and more common and is pushing pet owners to brands like La Quinta and Best Western Plus that are very pet friendly, don't charge extortionist fees, and are really upping their games to compete with brands like Residence Inn.

Taffada - Thank you for sharing your experience during your recent stay with us on Amelia Island. I apologize that the stay did not live up to your standards as a Titanium Elite Marriott Bonvoy member. Your loyalty does not go unnoticed and we are pleased that you chose to stay with us. While we wish we could honor high floor requests for all guests, we have to take into account everyone's experience and health concerns. For this reason, we do reserve certain floors for our 4-legged guests so that others who cannot be around pets for whatever reason feel comfortable during their stays as well. In Hospitality, Bob Hartman General Manager

Stayed here for the first time and we loved it. Very clean and well run property. Front desk team was friendly and helpful with our requests. The room was large and very clean. Breakfast in the mornings was larger than expected and is complementary with your stay. This property is about 200 yards from the beach and a super easy walk to there and a few restaurants. Great choice for lodging in this area.

As Titanium Elite Bonvoy status and Marriott Vacation Club owners we expect and always receive excelled service. However such was not the case upon check-in at this property late November. After an exhausting road trip from Ottawa Ontario Canada we were shown a room that was can be best described at 'Hotel California', a musty smell, stained carpets, food crumbs on the floor and obviously not updated in many years. We are familiar with Residence Inns, just returning from Steele Creek in Charlotte, we have stayed at the Millenia property in Orlando and numerous stays in Montreal. We were shown another room on the first floor which was not much better. At that point it was just time to get out of that property and stay elsewhere like the new Springhill Suites on the island. Immediately it was obvious that the front desk clerk was reluctant to offer us a full refund of our Bonvoy points that we worked so hard to accumulate during the year. We were left to fend for ourselves spending almost an hour on the phone with the Bonvoy call center. We were requested, actually demanded by the same front desk clerk to pay the first night at $200 in order to have our points returned to our account. We reluctantly complied, related the sad news to the good folks at Bonvoy who opened up a case number to return the $200 to our credit card. A few days later the $200 has been settled. The hotel had the gall to charge us another $135 pet fee, Yes little Baxter was with us, but we never stayed at the property. As of writing the $135 plus tax has not yet been returned to our credit card. I have been contacting Bonvoy waiting patiently. Concluding this is textbook in how not to honor and respect a Titanium Elite Marriott member. We are now at the Springhill on Amelia being treated like royalty with the expectations we have experienced with the Marriott brand for so many years. It would have been a gesture in good faith for Marriott to recognize our frustrations and offer a further concession like depositing a generous amount of Bonvoy points into our account.

Excellent hotel. Everything was top notch. Very clean hotel. Staff was welcoming and friendly. Stayed over Thanksgiving and the complimentary Thanksgiving dinner the night before was an over the top bonus. Outdoor sitting area with fire pit, gas grills, putting green, pool etc was great experience. Would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.
