We stayed for 5 nights in Bawah with my family of 5 in a two bedroom infinity pool villa.
It was just incredible!
The beauty of the private archipelago is breathtaking; the architecture blends with nature in perfect harmony; all buildings are in perfect condition down to every single detail; even at the end of the world, there is wide array of activities which kept us really busy : sailing, kayak, snorkeling, daily spa and suba diving…
Above all, the staff are incredibly smiling, friendly and dedicated.
Usually, hotels call you a guest but you are merely a client. At Bawah Reserve we truly felt like guests.
Definitely, paradise on earth.

I am absolutely in love with this little section of the Ambas islands! The staff took care of all of our travel arrangements and we were escorted door to door. We had a beautiful 2 bedroom tented sea villa. My husband and I joined the included 8am yoga classes each morning and enjoyed the 2 fabulous teachers who complimented each other with their different styles. Our kids adored the lawn tennis and spent hours there each day or playing beach soccer or volleyball. I loved the complimentary spa treatment each day and had 2 amazing therapists that worked out my different aches and pains over the week. We all loved our hikes, beach walks and snorkeling trips (turtles!)and sunset boat cruises. I loved getting my 10000 steps barefoot each day from walking around the island. The food was fantastic! All four of us over indulged on the delicious pastries, waffles, chia bowls, burbur ayam and local keuh each morning. Lunch was another feast with beautiful salads, pizzas, flat breads, popcorn prawns (To die for) and new specials every day. The boathouse will also make anything you are craving if they have the ingredients and some notice, and made me a delicious prawn curry with roti pratha one day. 5 of our dinners were at the treetops restaurant. The menu was extensive with daily specials too. We also had 2 local BBQ dinners at the beach during our stay. Our minibar was replenished daily (all non alcholic drinks/ snacks are inclusive) and when we preferred other drinks these were delivered to our room with fresh ice and glasses. I cannot find any flaw with the service. Every single staff member we encountered (from backoffice reservations) to our guest relations person (you get given a mobile to message or call GR as well as a suggested daily itinerary) to the wait staff / spa staff / gardeners were kind, polite, friendly and went out of their way to make our stay unforgettable! A family highlight was doing the wild swim, which was an open water swim of about 1km (one way)from the main island to another. Phi from wellness swam with us and 2 staff manned a kayak and a rubber dingy in case of any emergencies. Upon reaching the other island, the staff had brought us fresh coconuts and pastries and fruits. It was an amazing experience!

Dear Ibu Cindy, Your subject description is perfect! A Wild Rugged Island escape with Five Star Luxury! You and your clan were incredibly active which is the best way to see and explore Bawah Reserve and its six islands. Getting your “steps in” on Bawah also highly encouraged as it is the best way to slow down and properly feel and experience the island. The team are delighted to read your comments, and of course are always eager to create something new, or satisfy any craving. We’ll continue the maintenance on the lawn tennis courts so your boys can continue to practice before they make it onward to Wimbledon. Congratulations on completing the wild swim, and hope to welcome you and your family back to Bawah one day soon! Regards, Raymond Saja General Manager

I had an unbelievable experience at Bawah reserve this past week. I stayed for 3 days with a bunch of friends. The service is wonderful these Rini, indro and all of the employees were wonderful and extremely respectful and kind. The resort has a gorgeous rustic feel and so relaxing, it’s w remote island that can only be reached via sea plane which makes the stay even better knowing that it wont be packed with people. The water was so clear, you can see right through to the beautiful coral and colorful fish 🐠!! Thanks so much!! ❤️

Bawah Reserve is clearly my Paradise...I'm so happy to have discovered this place after travelling the world. Everything is perfect, beautiful, amazing, peaceful, isolated, preserved, sustainable.
From the pick-up in Singapore, the ferry to Batam, the incredible flight to Bawah on the seaplane, to landing in the lagoon.
The bungalows, suites and villas are spread out giving you all the privacy you need.
We stayed at the 2 bedroom pool villa which had just opened. The rooms, pool, dining area, direct access to the beach make this villa a paradise in paradise!
Walking around the island, hiking to the top of Bawah, swimming, snorkelling, diving, sailing, private picnics on secluded beaches, relaxing at the spa, eating, drinking...Bawah has it all.
Sustainability, preserving this paradise is truly what Bawah has at heart.
Compared to other beautiful places, Bawah Reserve is special : you truly feel at home, thanks to the environment, the design, but especially to the staff.
You feel you are part of the Bawah family and they will do everything and anything they can to make your stay special.
This is the place I want to keep on going back to.

Stayed 3 nights in a Beach Suite. 5 nights would have been perfect to make the most of our stay but would not do less than 3 nights.
From arrival to departure the experience was 5 star. Staff will assist you with any requests & go above and beyond. If you need anything, just ask! Smooth transitions from Singapore so we were already relaxed before arriving.
Beautiful unique location that would not disappoint. Water is crystal clear and great for snorkelling.
Meals were devine, cocktails and wine was delicious, staff (from landscaping staff to bar staff) were all friendly and extremely attentive.
Beach Suite was absolutely beautiful and would still choose this villa if I was to stay again.
Highlights: Daily massage, The Staff (All just so friendly and happy) and layout of the resort & care they have on the environment.
A stay at Bawah would not disappoint - We could not fault our holiday, it was absolutely perfect.

we stayed in Bawah for 2 weeks and really enjoyed. I believe that the owners had the vision of making the islands, the lagoon and the hotel a remarkable symbiosis of nature conservation and a luxury hotel resort - and they did! Yes, there were a few more moscitos then we would have liked but on the other hand there was an amazing variety of butterflies and dragon flies as well as a lot of other wildlife. So we ignored the moscitos and used the provided (organic) repellent and enjoyed the dance of the dragon flies.
Throughout our stay literally every single member of the staff was authentically welcoming, friendly and service orientated and giving their eyeteehth to make us feel comfortable and make wishes happen. The food chef Michael is serving is REALLY delicious and gives an amazing tasting of different asian cuisines.
A daily Spa treatment per person as well as a daily guided snorceling tour comes as part of the package and we have enjoyed both. The variety of corals that can be seen inside as well as outside the lagoon is outstanding and it is visible that the efforts that the owners put into planting and growing new corals in order to restore the reef where it has been erased years ago through dynamite fishing is fruitful.
And finally on our last day we witnessed green turtles hatching from eggs that were collected and protected from the localmonitor lizzards. An amazing experience at the end of a wonderful holiday.

Dear Chris_mas16, Thank you for sharing your profound experience during your TWO-WEEK stay at Bawah Reserve. I appreciate the way you have phrased this…. “a remarkable symbiosis of nature conservation and luxury resort”. Our extremely passionate and driven owners are delighted to have the ability to share these special islands with likeminded individuals. Your appreciation for the diverse wildlife both above the sea in our tropical jungle, as well as in the sea directly resonates with our commitment to preserving the natural ecosystem. Our team will find your sincere comments in regards to their hospitality, heart-warming. Witnessing the green turtles hatching on your last day is just one of the many ways that Bawah creates magical moments. Warm regards, Raymond Saja General Manager

We stayed 7 nights(I wouldn’t recommend less than 4 to really relax) in late October and had an excellent holiday. There is so much to do, plenty of activities….Scuba & Snorkling, tennis, full fitness, hiking trails, 6 islands to explore by Kayak or boat.
The food is excellent and the service is honest caring and seamless. There is enough variation with the food so you have interesting and different choice each meal.
I would highly recommend the infinity pool Villa, it is private yet close to everything.
Diving is fantastic, John runs a tight ship and the dive sites are very easy to get to.
We were there a month after the Covid reopening, and there were clearly some items still to be ironed out. One of the bars was closed for part of our stay due to construction, and little things, like our kayak broke, that shouldn’t happen at a resort like this. Having said that, the staff was on top of helping us and the place is 100km from any real civilization, so it’s impressive what they can pull off.
While it’s a project to get there, it’s well worth the voyage. One particularly lovely feature is the daily massage. When not included I might do 1-2 per trip, but with it included we did one everyday and man did that add to the overall relaxation.
We have been to a number of private island resorts, and Bawah ranks as tops… I think the genuine staff is unusually special here, a real coherent team that genuinely cares… anyway, GO, you will not be disappointed

Dear MDBASILE, Thank you for joining us at Bawah Reserve as well as taking the time to recount your experience honestly. The team will be delighted to read your comments and we very much share in your sentiments of the team being “unusually special”. Our Jules Verne bar is now reopened as part of our outlet rotation and our new kayaks are arriving on island this week. Last, but not least, thank you for introducing us to the “neighbourhood” whale shark!! He/she has been visiting frequently ever since with many more sightings! Hope to see you again one day soon, at Bawah Reserve! Regards, Raymond Saja

Very satisfied with this unforgettable vacation memory. The shuttle car from Singapore and the intermediary transfers were very welcoming and of high quality. After going to the island, I even felt the higher quality of service, many staff can directly remember your name and habits. I would like to thank some of the staff in particular.
1. Ikhsan was always very attentive to our eating habits as my mother and I are not used to the local spices and flavors.
2. Fatiya, the lovely lady who accompanied us to take photos, has great aesthetics and photographic skills.
3.Phi, the yoga teacher, is a very caring lady with positive energy. I had two separate yoga classes with her and felt very healed!
Thanks for all!

Our trip to Bawah Reserve was another level of magnificence. The beauty, the understated style, the attention to detail, and the obvious integrity of the custodians of this pristine group of islands are how I imagine God intended our world to be.
Do whatever it takes to get to Bawah. Sell the shares, hell, sell the kids (and take the kids before you sell them). The list of breathtaking moments is endless. The management and staff of this experience deserve more than a star rating. I cried a few times from the sheer perfection of everything. Raymond Saja is at the helm as GM and took care of every aspect of our week—I have never been treated with this much care and forethought.
From the nature—swimming with turtles right next to our bungalow, snorkeling over vibrant, healthy coral the size of small cars—to the highly intuitive therapies at the spa, the teas, the jamus, the Negronis, the seafood, the breakfast surprises, the turn-down surprises…the style at every turn, etc. etc. etc. The staff is exceptional, the views are extraordinary, and the underwater world is utterly breathtaking.
Don’t even bother bringing a book; you cannot tear your eyes away from the beauty at every turn. I managed just one chapter over six days.
If Bawah were a supermodel, it’d be a cross between Gisele, Cindy, Iman, and Evangelista (in their prime). God made Bawah, and it’s thankfully in the best of hands. The pilot who flew us in compared it to the Maldives on crack—hook me up, I’m already addicted. There’s something here that one cannot convey in words, and a comparison to another place doesn’t do it justice…there is magic here that’s indescribable.

The Bawah is one of the most beautiful places I have been. We had such a great time, we can't wait to go back. The food is exceptional and the entire staff is so friendly and accommodating. Our overwater bungalow was perfect and waking up to the sound of waves each morning was wonderful. The snorkeling, private picnics & dinner beachside, spa services & hiking helped make this a memorable trip. We will be back!
