Travellers' Choice
Come enjoy all that the Connecticut shoreline has to offer in our beautifully restored, 1876 Victorian Inn. Just a few minutes walk to the Wesbrook town beach. Centrally located to many Historic sites, Museums, Restaurants and More! We offer nine lovely vintage guestrooms. Three of our rooms have fireplaces, and we have a beautiful wood burning fireplace in our great room, perfect to cozy up with a book in front of on cold winter days. In Summer season, you can walk to the beach and restaurants. We are on the river with a lovely fire-pit seating area, perfect to enjoy a cocktail and watch the sunset. Use one of the Inn's kayaks to explore the river and enjoy the bird watching on this beautiful estuary. We also have many outside areas to relax and escape from the everyday. An extensive library offers quick reads on local interests and some classics. The fall and winter are exquisite in New England with glorious crisp days to enjoy leaf peeping, apple picking, winery or craft brewery visits. The restaurants on the shoreline are plentiful and delicious. Antiquing, Art galleries, Museums and Outlet Shopping will fill your days. There are so many attractions including Old Mystic Village, Seaport and Aquarium, Casinos and the Essex Steam Train and Connecticut Riverboat. Our Inn is centrally located and a perfect home base. Our guest enjoy all the conveniences of a boutique hotel including a delectable homemade two course breakfast, fresh baked cookies and lemonade, complimentary bikes, kayaks, beach chairs, beach towels, and umbrellas. Upgraded linens, amenities and robes. We provide transportation from the Westbrook train station.

The room was very nice. The hot water - beyond plentiful. There seems to be a big reliance on technology. The front door is keyless with a 4 digit that is emailed to you ahead of time. One time when we were leaving for dinner, a couple was struggling to enter the code. We decided to give them a chance to get it working so we just stood there inside while they tried with the innkeeper on the other end of the phone. Eventually, we gave up and opened the door. Did the innkeeper ever show up? Then after we were asleep another couple (or the same ones) were struggling with the keyless system. They had the innkeeper on speakerphone. The whole thing woke me up. (We were in the front "Clinton" room.) I was about 5 seconds from getting out of bed, going out into the hall in my jammies and opening the door for them. That shouldn't have been my job. We had trouble connecting to the wifi. Two mac computers and an iphone. We even rebooted the macs. (And I put food on the table writing programs.) Aboiut all the help we got was a text message and voice mail saying "enter the password". We had specified that one of us was gluten-free when making the reservation. What arrived for her was a small slice of quiche with the comment - "We hope you can cut away the crust." No, "would this be okay?" beforehand.

Henry, thanks much for staying with us and taking the time to leave your review. It’s our goal to make every guests stay special and I am very sorry we fell short for you. I am dissatisfied we did not give you a feeling of personal touch - we will work to do better. We do provide some solutions via technology but that is never to replace us or the staff. The contactless check in process is meant to provide a longer check in window allowing more flexibility for guests. Being a small inn, our front desk is not staffed overnight. I apologize you were inconvenienced. We also want to provide hi speed internet for guest convenience, but to protect the Network we do require guests to accept terms. We will look into how Apple devices may be challenging to get online and rectify. On breakfast, I can only apologize. We make adjustments for diets and provide a delicious choice regardless of request. It’s clear we missed the mark for you which is unacceptable. Thank you for providing the feedback you did. Our standards we not met during you visit and I great apologize. I hope you will give us an opportunity to do better with a future stay. Thanks again for your patronage Meri

Absolutely perfect B&B. Room was spacious, private, clean and comfortable. The house is filled with charm. Location is perfect. Our host Meri made the entire weekend so relaxing and enjoyable. The breakfast she prepared was nothing short of 5 stars! We stayed in the Westbrook room which is located on the main floor. The queen bed was a Sleep Number bed which was so comfortable! In room fireplace and spacious clean bathroom. I can’t wait to go back this summer for little getaway by the beach. This would be the perfect place for a small wedding or family reunion. Outside patio is private with fire pit and gazebo.

My wife and a friend stayed here recently. The innkeeper was very nice and helpful. I appreciated the afternoon cookies and candy. I always note this as a thoughtful B and B touch that sets inns apart. The breakfast was good. Personally, I found the rooms to be too feminine, and the bathroom was small with no place for personal items.

I retired from Connecticut but always head back to see family. Now family includes the Westbrook Inn hosts, Meri and Marcos! A wonderful clean and comfortable spot with delightful breakfasts and inviting porches and gardens to enjoy with family and other guests. Its close to the beach, a variety of restaurants and shops yet quiet enough to recharge your batteries when you need the rest! I admit I am totally spoiled here and would never stay anywhere else!

We booked the whole inn for a family wedding. It was wonderful to have everyone staying together. If we had stayed at a hotel we would have to go "somewhere" to get together outside of our rooms. By staying at the inn, we already were "somewhere"! At night we sat out on the patio around the fire pit playing games. Everyone could go up to bed when they were tired, without having to call a cab for a safe ride back to a boring hotel. In the mornings we shared coffee and breakfast in the great room and the bride and her party took over the cottage to prepare for the big day. The owner, Meri Wick, could not have been more pleasant and welcoming. Everything was spotless! The staff was extremely attentive to whatever we needed. Our server, Thomas, was the best!!! I would highly recommend this experience to others!!!
