The New Haven Hotel garners praise for its exceptional service and spotless accommodations. Nestled in a prime location, it's a stone's throw from key attractions, making exploration a breeze for guests. While the atmosphere is generally inviting, some have noted occasional noise and a need for modernizing the décor.
The rooms score points for comfort and space, yet there are mentions of temperature inconsistencies. Despite appreciating the amenities, such as plush beds and strong showers, visitors are sometimes dismayed by additional fees and service hiccups.

This is an up-to-date hotel in a great location, walking distance to the New Haven Green and Yale. Comfortable. Clean. Quiet. Friendly. Great parking. My only suggestion is that they have some mugs available somewhere in the lobby — for tea. I tried to microwave some water to get it hot enough for good tea — and the paper cup started to singe.

The last time I stayed at this hotel was in June when I had an appointment at a nearby medical building. At that time, I had difficulty showering in the morning because the lower border of the shower directed water out into the hotel room instead of back into the shower. I used every towel in the bathroom to try to mop up the mess on the bathroom floor and ran to keep my appointment. As I approached the room where my appointment was, I heard another woman explaining that she was late because of the same problem with the shower in her hotel room. When visiting the hotel this week, I was happy to see that the bathroom was remodeled with a sturdy class door leading to the shower. Unfortunately this time I struggled with water temperature and finally resorted to taking a lukewarm shower. The front desk sent a man to look at the hot water problem and her suggested that I run the water for 5 to 10 minutes before showering. The problems with showering are unfortunate because this is a lovely hotel, clean, nicely decorated, comfortable, and quiet. The staff are polite and ready to help. Since I am visiting the area for medical appointments, it is important that I bathe before the appointments and this has been a bit of a problem during my two stays at this hotel. I would try staying at this hotel one more time because I believe it has the potential to be a hotel deserving of a higher rating.

First a couple of suggestions to the management that would make it better for the environment: 1. Glad that there are bins in the room for recycling; without instructions it’s impossible to know what is considered recyclable in New Haven. 2. The bedding is very comfortable but heavy this time of year, so it was necessary to keep the air conditioning higher at night than we normally would have, thus wasting energy. Coffee prep in the room was appreciated as was the comfortable shower. Our room had a slightly musty odor. There is a small coin operated laundry facility on the seventh floor and a fitness center on the fourth floor. Parking at the adjoining garage is currently $24 per day, very handy if you don’t mind making very sharp turns to get to the parking spaces, be careful with oversized vehicles.

Don’t stay here on the weekend! As I settled in to bed (on the 3rd floor, mind you), I noted loud music I honestly thought must be blaring from someone’s car on the adjacent street. I thought it would go away. When it didn’t, I called the front desk and reported the noise. The man rushed me off the phone and said he’d send someone to investigate the noise. After twenty more minutes of incessant pounding of bass, I opened the blinds to see a bumping nightclub maybe a block away. I could make out words in the songs, it was so loud and close.
I called the desk again, only to be told there were no “quiet rooms” available and “maybe” I could change rooms for the next day. I pleaded. The man said he would check and get back to me. He never did.
The better part of an hour passed before I called again. This time, I got a woman. I had to ask her twice, but she was able to find me a “quiet room,” as they kept referring to them—i.e. away from the nightclub.
I can’t stress the stress this whole situation put on me, and now even in a quiet room, I’m unlikely to sleep. The designation of “quiet” rooms means they know this is an issue, even though the front desk played ignorant the first time I called, hoping I’d secede. It also means they expect people to pay money to sleep in non-quiet rooms.
For a business meant by and far to provide a place to rest, the staff seemed hellbent on not allowing me to get any sleep. Not only was this poor customer service, but obvious infrastructural issues. I’d stay far away from here until they work to resolve them.

Purchased a 'Secret Deal' and it turned out to be New Haven Hotel. Shortly after we got a call that the room we were eligible for was so bad that the Fire Marshall would not allow occupancy (I guess that's why its a deal). They guaranteed us a room at their 'sister' hotel up the street, Marriott Hotel at Yale, but upon arriving at Marriott, they were completely clueless. After waiting at the desk for over an hour while the two Hotels tried to figure out if we should get a room, we were given the most unappealing, UN-romantic, wheelchair only room that smelled like it doubled as the smoking lounge. The room was filthy and the bathroom hideous. We went back to the desk and asked for a standard room, and the manager pretended to not know that the room was only for handy-cap use claiming the system had no way of showing if a room was handy-cap accessible. The manager then started acting like she was looking for another room on the computer. After a few minutes of playing pretend, we guessed that she didn't have any rooms and she said that it didn't look like it. Management at both Hotels were completely negligent and dysfunctional. Additionally, the parking garage at the Marriott has spaces sized so small that a Toyota Prius would barely fit, but they have SUVs and full sized sedans parking there. Your guaranteed to have a dented door in the morning. They charge $25 to park. We called back New Haven Hotel to talk to a manager and we were guaranteed a manager would contact us in the morning. The manager never called.

The room is clean as usual. The staff members are wearing masks and gloves all the time. The complimentary breakfast was more like a restaurant take out which make us feel more safe. The restaurants around the hotel were mostly open and we enjoyed our dinner during the trip. Recommended!

I was fortunate enough to stay at this hotel for 4 months on a work assignment. The hotel is in an excellent location within walking distance to Yale and quaint streets that offer a variety of restaurants and shops. The staff was beyond accommodating and met my needs in a timely manner. Mike the manager and Val at the desk greeted me daily and made sure every detail of my stay was above and beyond. The hotel was clean and followed all COVID safety standards.

This was my first time in New Haven. I was impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the young ladies working at the front desk. Jamie was extremely helpful in giving us directions. She was patient and cheerful in helping us find our way around.
The hotel is well located and was very clean. I also appreciated having an ice machine close to our room. We needed extra wash cloths and tea bags which were quickly delivered to our room. I would definitely stay again.

Nice hotel with good location to get to Yale and Green.
Close to Walgreen just take 5-10 mins, and CVS.
but some dust in the coffee maker, just wash that before use.
wifi is so-so, a little slow when uploaded.

Dirty common areas, super noisy rooms.
Let in all the noise from other rooms, and closing doors. To some sort of nightclub noise also rocking till the next morning .
Room smelled funny.
Neighbors switched from another room next to ours because noise was worse in their previous room.
Rough sheets and bedding
The good, parking location and the mattress felt new, supportive

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback, Marubex. It's disheartening your stay with us was disappointing. We strive for quality so it's unfortunate that our cleanliness and sound insulation didn't meet your expectations. We also regret that our bedding was less than ideal. We'll be sure to discuss your concerns moving forward. We hope to host you again soon for a more positive experience.

A guest ask you if he can be allowed to take the towel in his room for sovenier. What will i do? what will i say?
Hi George. I'm not sure which pictures you are referring to, but if someone posted pictures of bed bugs from this hotel, I can't attest to their presence or absence. I didn't see bed bugs or signs of bed bugs when I was there. Because NYC can be a source of infestation, I imagine that any hotel frequented by people coming from NYC will get them from time to time. I habitually check mattresses for spots and blood stains (signs of bedbug infestation) when I'm traveling anywhere near NYC, and I didn't see any during my stay. That doesn't mean there aren't any. I just can't speak to it.
No idea. Call the hotel. I had a town car
Yes, you park yourself and can come and go, but it's a little expensive.
If you're used to Dublin, then I would say that New Haven in and around the Yale Campus is very safe. They have so many campus police there you can tour Yale at all hours and feel safe. Visit restaurants and bars near the NHH and you'll probably be as safe as Dublin. Go several miles out to the outlying neighborhoods, and like anywhere, there could be trouble. For sure, downtown New Haven doesn't have even one tenth the crime of Detroit, MI; St. Louis, MO; Oakland, CA or even Santa Ana, CA 10 miles from me! I felt very safe.
