Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed in the loft room it was more like an apartment very spacious and well maintained. The area is gated so you need a key to even park your car on the premises. I would definitely stay again. I highly recommend this place.

Check in process was absolutely painful. The specific room that we reserved through Expedia with 2 double beds was not available, even though that is what we booked and paid for. Had to take a room with a king bed. Room is clean and has a nice kitchenette.

This hotel is convenient to I-95 yet quiet and secluded from the noise. Room was clean and staff very friendly. They offer a light dinner some nights and breakfast daily. Rooms are like mini apartments, we enjoyed the space. If you don’t want to be in the heart of New Haven (all that city congestion) then consider the village suites!

The check-in process was smooth. Service provided at the check-in desk was also very good, and the staff was very friendly. The quality of the suites was excellent, and the rooms are clean, comfortable and well maintained. The choice of breakfast available was also very good. The availability of a small store where you can buy essentials is a great value addition, along with the business center which was very helpful when we needed to do some quick printing. Overall great stay.

The photos are very misleading and do not represent the rooms. The Suites are very old. The furniture is scratched and old. The mirrored clothes closets do not open or close on the tracks. Nowhere to leave an open suitcase other then the bed.
The Kitchens have old appliances from the 70's/80's other than the newer microwave. The photos show all stainless steel appliances, however, the refrigerator and stove are 30 years old. The bathrooms are very old and patched up. Towels are cheap and thin. Bathrooms have not been renovated in 30 years.
This is a long term stay property and it appears they rent out the suites on a monthly stay, so regrettably much of the clientele appear to be subsidized housing.
The Breakfast is a joke. One pan with potatoes on one side and hard boiled eggs on the other side, some bread, some cereal. Coffee cups are small with large lids that don't fit. No one seems to really care.
This is definitely a 3rd rate operation and not a 3* or 4* property as they advertise. The New Haven Village Suites is in dire need of major renovations. If you are travelling for business, there are much, much better options in New Haven. Regrettably, I was fooled by the nice photos and the misleading reviews.

We were very disappointed with the service at this hotel. When we went to this room, there was a strong smell, no waste paper baskets and the television was not working. I called the receptionist at the front desk about these concerns and she stated she will leave a message for the maintenance worker. He has left for the day. This is unacceptable. We cancelled our reservation and on the road to another hotel now.

Arrived at 4 pm for check-in after driving from MD to CT during labor day weekend. When we parked, there were many people sitting on the curb of check-in area smoking, while someone was trying to jump start a car in the parking area. I walked in with my two children and we let them know we had a reservation. The clerk asked if we were with the wedding party to which we replied we were not. She gave us the key and when we tried to use the key to get past the gate, the gate repeatedly almost smashed the top of my car as we tried to quickly get through when it opened. We finally made it through the two second window when an employee used their badge while I drove my car through. We found our building but had to make our way to the backside where our room was. We heard smoke alarms going off and people screaming at one another in Spanish. When we walked around the corner, we were hit with a plume of marijuana smoke and lo and behold, it was coming from our unit. Two large African American men were standing at our door smoking weed while their door, next door, was open and blasting rap music. I turned right around and went back to the front desk and insisted on another room. They said they were full and so I requested a refund. We wound up staying with my friend after all, cramped though it was. This hotel seemed very sketchy and is NOT family friendly.

I’ll be honest, when me and my mom read the reviews online we were really scared to be here. However, all other hotels were fully booked, so we ended up with no choice but to be here.

The moment I stepped into the lobby, it was a whole other story. Unlike what the reviews had said this was a whole different story. We were greeted by Carlos, who helped with our luggage and opened the door for us (and would continue to for many days to open the door when I would inevitably forget my keycard).

It was a really cozy “home” feeling. The staff were really friendly (once again especially Carlos), and helpful throughout the entire checking in process, and opening the back door so we wouldn’t have to bear the cold and go the long way.

Though, the breakfast lacks in variety, it’s still enjoyable (so maybe thats one of the few points where other reviews are right).

The rooms aren’t dirty, more then anything they’re quite again homey and cozy. There’s also a nice kitchen inside all of them:

5/5, don’t trust the reviews. Thank you to Carlos for helping our family with our many demands and problems. Our family enjoyed it much more than any 5 star hotel.

This hotel is garbage. The room smelled terrible. The bathroom was dirty and so was the tub. We asked for 2 extra pillows and they said they would drop them off so we left for our evening activity and when we returned NO EXTRA pillows. I would have called the desk but the phone didnt work. Breakfast the next morning consisted of granola bars, GMO yogurt and cereal with sugar. This hotel should be rated 0

Hotel rooms are NOT newly renovated as advertised. Furniture dirty and old. Hairdryer broken. Plumbing in bathroom not working well. Cannot get hot water from sink. Not enough towels. Only 1 dryer working in laundry and took my money. Ice machine in laundry leaking water on floor making very slippery. Cracks in ceilings unrepaired. No hangars. Dirty. Loud furnace. Kitchen had no knife to cut food. Broken blinds. We stayed in King suite. Fireplace out of order. Disappointed.

During my stay there was no evidence of any construction. The mornings and evenings were very quiet, but you should contact the desk to make certain.
