Detailed Reviews
This hotel is situated quite conveniently at the heart of New Haven and walking distance from most of the Yale University campus. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
The hot apple cider at the reception during the evenings was a nice touch and it was great to have it after being out and about in the chilly New Haven. The Starbucks cafe within the hotel is a bit lackluster and food options are quite limited. The queue can also be very slow. The hotel breakfast was also extremely poor with very limited options and no variation at all.
The room itself was relatively small, but adequate. The air conditioning system in the room did not work at all. The controls were incredibly hard to use and we couldn't get it to work. Without us touching it, it would constantly be switching on and off; too hot or too cold. Housekeeping service can also be improved, as we often had missing supplies, such as soap and towels.
Some noise could be heard from outside at night, however it was not very loud and eliminated by the provided earplugs.
Overall, this hotel is quite pricey and although it is in an excellent location, it's not really worth the money and you might want to look else where for other options.

We truly appreciate your feedback on your experience as it aids us in servicing our guests in a more efficient manner. Our sincerest apologies for the inconsistent Housekeeping services and air conditioning unit not working to par. I hope you will give us another chance to make things right on your next trip to the area. Regards, Emilio M.

I checked in at the start of the Corona crisis. So things were a little hectic.
My room was fine but the fire alarm was making short beeping noises. I called the from desk and they sent someone up. I had left room and they claimed they didnt hear anything.
I called them back when I returned as the noise was still there. They sent someone up immediately and he heard the noises. They graciously moved me to another room. Not facing street with no noise. They were exceptionally apologetic and sent up a few bags of chips which I would never eat. If a light sleeper make sure you are facing the back and not Popeyes.
Room was clean. Gym is sparse but they will give you a pass to Payne Whitney.
Room was fine, little nicer than usual courtyard

This hotel, while not on the upscale or 'unique' end of the hotel scale, is still a solid place to stay, especially if you need somewhere affordable near Yale. The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly, and there was a decently-sized parking lot in back. They're good for checking in/out late (important for staying near a university), and it's within walking distance of restaurants and shopping. The rooms aren't too big, but have the standard things for a good stay: comfortable bed, functioning bathroom, and AC. Be sure to check which amenities are open (or closed) due to the pandemic.

This is a standard inner city Courtyard property. It’s… fine. There are a few tables outside to eat at, which is nice. Here’s my problem. Every guest checking in (all of whom had to wait in a line at 7 PM on Saturday because there is only one person working here) heard: “The bar and the bistro are closed, so the only food we are offering is free coffee from 6 AM to 10 AM.” Why? The pandemic is over in the United States. There are no more guidelines in this state to fall back on. There are no more masking or distancing requirements. Why is the bar and bistro closed, other than to take advantage of guests by cutting services while maintaining extra profits? And why is Marriott permitting the licensee to do this after having announced that free breakfasts for Platinum members are back? The bar and bistro needs to open. The property needs to provide an explanation. And Marriott needs to maintain tighter control?

I just returned from spending 2 of my free night awards. Many hotels will assign the worst room when paying this way and this was definitely not the case here. Due to all the negative reviews I read, I was a bit nervous and called the hotel and spoke to a couple of people. They were very honest about what to expect. In fact, although it could use an update, the room was just fine (and I'm picky) and totally immaculate. I had white socks on and my socks were just as white walking around the room. Actually, I was shocked that it was so clean and there wasn't a speck of dust anywhere.
Now to the best part, the staff. They are wonderful and extremely friendly and helpful. There never was a shortage of staff either. Every person I encountered had a smile on their face and couldn't be happier to help. I enjoyed just chatting with them.
I only gave the Courtyard 4 stars instead of 5 because the rooms are not that large , they charge for parking and basic toiletries are provided.
We found the location convenient for walking around during both day and evening.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

The hotel felt very run down, under staffed and not very clean. Both hand sanitizers in the lobby were completely empty. The floors were littered with linen in bags that were obviously from rooms being cleaned but were just left out in hallways for hours and so were the housekeeping carts. The little market where you can buy snacks was always half out of product. None of this is up to Marriott standards.

At Yale for a symposium, I was glad to find this relatively inexpensive hotel within walking distance of meeting sites and restaurants. I have never encountered everyone from desk clerks to cleaning staff who were more helpful, smiling and patient. The room was spotless and quiet, the beds comfortable, and the breakfast (not included) more Gluten-Free friendly. My single complaint: the bathroom ceiling was low, and the shower curtains were too long, so I had to choose between keeping the curtain and liner out of the tub during a shower, and getting a lot of water on the floor, or letting the liner stay in the tub (which I did), and so the liner took up half the bottom of the tub. I really held tight to the vertical grab bar so as not to slip and fall. When I mentioned this to the desk clerk on checking out, she said they were going to do a renovation, and would address that problem.

This was a very nice hotel. Clean, friendly staff and great location. The disappointing part was the unavailable free coffee that other hotel chains offer. And in room coffee makers don't count since that's more like brown water than coffee. The only coffee available was to be purchased at a Starbucks set up in the hotel. A rich hotel chain has to sell guests coffee instead of offering at no charge, Vey Disappointing. $4 for a cup of mud. Inconvenient. Look around before booking this hotel.

This hotel is decent but I thought it was expensive. Michelle at the desk is so nice and helpful. The street noise in New Haven is awful - motorcycles, blasting radios, etc all night so next time I will definitely try to get a room that does not face the street. Basically this hotel serves a purpose but is really pretty average. There is an extra fee for parking but the garage is easy to access.

You are not looking at the spires of the Yale campus or even the charms of old New Haven when you stay at this Marriott property: room 415 looks directly onto the parking lot and the sloping, broken rooftops and porches of the sad buildings next door. The lock on my room's door did not work and could not be fixed; they offered to move me but by that point I had already unpacked and prepared for the event at which I was presenting. There no food available when I arrived and although the bar was open when I returned (and pleasant), there was no food available at the hotel at that point, either. This morning they were out of orange juice. Obviously the big deal is the lock and when I spoke to the GM he said he would deal with it immediately, but I do wish I came away with a better impression overall.

Basil restaurant has Chinese food, very good cost benefit and has delivery tel (203)8654000.
Yes, $2 each for washer and dryer. Will need to exchange coins at front desk.
I don't know.
Little late in answering this, but I will give it a try. I stay at this hotel 2-3 times a month for work. I do not have a problem walking around at night in New Haven in the area of the hotel. I dont have a car so I walk to most places or take Uber if further than a mile or so. With that being said, I would not go out of the hotel an walk to the left. Most of what you would want to do is to the right of the hotel anyway. The food, sites on campus to see etc.
I do not have any knowledge of the New Haven, but the Omni is located more around the restaurants etc and many of my co workers stay there also.
