The Blake Hotel garners accolades for its amiable staff and prime location near historic sites and Yale University, as reported by numerous guests. While the hotel's rooms are celebrated for their spaciousness and cleanliness, some visitors have noted the absence of in-room coffee makers and mentioned noise concerns.
The chic, welcoming atmosphere is a highlight, with modern furnishings and a stylish lobby. However, the value perception is dampened by pricey additional charges and parking fees.

Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favourite
I traveled to New Haven recently to attend the welcoming ceremonies for Yale University. It was an exceptionally busy time for hotels and unfortunately I had made reservations at a nearby hotel which did not meet my expectations. Without going into detail about my experience there, let me just say there was no way I was going to spend one night in that hotel. A few calls to other hotels yielded the same response, " We are fully booked." I had no idea where I would go, but I walked out and walked upon your hotel and went in to explain my dilemma to the people at your front desk - Aisha and Anthony. They also advised that your available rooms were all reserved. However, what they did next truly touched me. They worked diligently to call other hotels in an effort to assist me. When they were unable to locate a hotel with availabilty, Aisha informed me that a change was worked out that freed up a room for me at the Blake. It was obvious they empathized with me and were determined to exhaust every possible option to assist me.
This willingness to help was something I witnessed in each of your team members during my stay. From Marissa, Chris and Michael on the front desk to Zulema in housekeeping- all were amazingly customer focused.
Looking back on the experience, I recall having so much adrenaline flowing when I packed to leave the other hotel that I moved everything in one trip, not needing nor wanting assistance from anyone to help me get out of there. And working off of that same adrenaline when arriving at your hotel, being asked by your kind valet team if I needed help getting my things to my room, I declined their help only to get inside your door and have everything fall apart! I remember this kind gentleman telling me to leave everything where it was and proceed to the desk to check in and he would take care of my mess. I didn't realize it at the time, but when I went to the rooftop bar to relax after such a stressful day, I realized the kind gentleman who came to my rescue was James, the Restaurant and Bar manager.
You truly have an amazing team. The one thing that always stood out for me was how no one seemed to feel as though any job was not "their" job. If they saw a need, they offered to help. I even saw you pitching in to help the workers. At the time, I had no idea who you were or the fact that you were the General Manager for the hotel. You definitely lead by example.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to experience the Blake. I will definitely be returning to the Blake for all future New Haven visits.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

The first thing I noticed about this new hotel as I walked through the automatic double doors to the lobby was the incredible fruity and flowery scent. The pleasantness segued into the lobby where the decor was inviting and comfortable with a hint of New England intellectual elegance. There were many sofas and overstuffed chairs arranged into groups, one surrounded a fireplace and another annexed a study/library. To the left was a lively bistro, Hamilton Park, owned by Michelin-starred Chefs Tyler Anderson and Matt Lambert. They also own High George, located at the rooftop of the hotel where an expansive view of New Haven can be appreciated as well as the menu. The staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful. Our room with a double bed, was spotless and larger than an average sized hotel room, with a wonderful view of Yale University and Chapel Street. The location of the hotel is a couple of blocks away from Yale's Old Campus, British Art Gallery and many eateries, including Bar restaurant (best mashed potatoes and bacon pizza), Louis' Lunch (claims to have invented the hamburger), MilkCraft (long lines for ice cream even in 30 degrees F temp) and many others. The location is also away from New Haven Green where safety, especially at night, is an issue. The hotel is on a quiet cross street away from the hustle and bustle.
I've stayed at several hotels in New Haven and I would highly recommend the Blake Hotel. The room rates are reasonable too. A great find!

Thank you for sharing your experience! We are glad that you enjoyed our convenient location, cleanliness and customer service. We receive so many compliments about the lobby smell that we actually sell diffusers in our market so you can enjoy the scent from home. Our Executive Chefs Tyler Anderson and Ashley Flagg run the culinary operation at both Hamilton Park and High George, and we're thrilled to have received accolades from Connecticut Magazine including Best New Restaurant and Best Outdoor Dining. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to The Blake soon!

In the midst of Covid and trying a getaway for a bit, went to New Haven and stayed at this hotel for 20 days. I had been there multiple times and always had an excellent experience, but never under the circumnstances and for such an extended period of time. But COVID times are different. Went back to the hotel and found the same perfect service but also a hotel that respected the safety rules, with everyone wearing masks and constantly cleaning and sanitizing everywhere which made us feel very safe.
The hotel provided my husband and our children, private spaces with perfect internet, so we could have our office meetings and work while our children did online school. All the cleaning crew adjusted their schedules to come into our suite and room at the times our family wasn’t there, which was different every single day and required altering their own schedules. The rooms at the Blake are spacious and welcoming and beautifully decorated. Staying for so much time there, made the kitchenette extremely helpful for a quick bite, a coffee or a cold soda and having the fridge and microwave available made possible some easy meals and snacks. Also with a family of five, the wonderful complimentary laundry on the sixth floor worked perfectly.
Also on the sixth floor make sure to visit “High George” an incredible rooftop terrace with incredible breakfasts and a decadent dinner menu and bar service. Make sure to make a reservation on time! Also if you are a guest, they can do food to go that you can eat in your room!!!
We were spoiled and pampered with even some Colombian food that we love which the Hotel Manager Tom personally got for us. We were helped with our car, reservations and every single need with a smile from every person that works in this wonderful place.
With most of the tourism industry struggling during these times, the Blake kept their standards of quality and went way above and beyond to let us know how much they appreciated our business but really after 20 days these amazing people became like family to us!
My husband and I had our anniversary during the trip and everyone literally came to us with a beautiful cake and card to celebrate us!
I can’t say enough about the quality and service and love we received but I will say because of this Service, once my Daughter graduates from her College in New Haven I will make sure to go back to this home away from home.
To Tom, Jennifer, the beautiful and kind young adults working at the front desk, the cleaning ladies, the valet boys!!!! Thank you!!! You made our time in New Haven memorable!
I give this hotel a million stars. If you are ever in New Haven this is the place to stay!

I have traveled for business many years and I've stayed have my fair share of good hotels and bad. I was in New Haven recently for New Year's and am so happy that we stayed at the Blake Hotel in New Haven,CT.
This thoroughly enjoyable and new hotel is perfectly located just blocks from Yale, Shubert Theater and some of the best shops and restaurants the city has to offer. The Blake displays a very smart contemporary and luxury style that is rare in many hotels.
It's courteous and most professional staff makes you feel immediately comfortable and welcome. I really enjoyed how the lobby had attractive furnishings with many art and coffee table books to peruse through. The Blake's restaurant is immediately on the left upon entering the lobby and the food is absolutely delicious. So good...
The rooms are impeccable. Smart and sleek design with concentration on comfort. Everything in our suite was perfect, all the way down to the pillows. I can't rave about this New Haven gem enough. Do yourself a favor and stay here. It's worth every penny

Thank you to Jose and Sullivan of The Blake Hotel for providing a wonderul experience for my wife and I. The rooftop dinner we had was amazing and the scenery was awesome. The Blake is a nice property, chic, new, and clean. No real complaints with the room, except that the Smart TV didn’t actually let us access our Netflix account (most Samsung smart TVs do) and the staff had no idea how to help with that. We do recommend the restaurant High George. Good dinner and breakfast. On the downside, this was the highest priced hotel in the area when we looked for a place to stay, but we certainly didn’t feel catered on by hotel staff. They would not make a dinner reservation for us at their own restaurant—something about needing a credit card (even though at check-in I had given them a card to put on file for incidentals.) In fact after we got coffee in the lobby from what looked like a self serve machine they came over to get my room number and charged me for it. These are not great flaws but the pricing raised our expectations.

My boyfriend and I stayed at The Blake Hotel this past weekend to celebrate my birthday. It was both of our first times in New Haven and it was a truly perfect experience.
Valet parking is right outside the hotel courtyard which was convenient and quick. Check-in was smooth and the decor in the lobby was chic and modern. Our room was spacious, impeccable and beautifully designed. The team provided a bottle of champagne and a special note for my birthday (so sweet!). The room had everything we needed - plush robes, smart TV for music, luxurious Malin + Goetz amenities, and so much more. We were huge fans of the Nespresso machine in the full kitchenette which was a great addition. The room was very quiet and the king sized bed was comfortable for a good night’s rest.
For dinner on Friday night, we ate at the rooftop restaurant High George. The Manager David greeted us upon entry and was warm and accommodating. Our server Mary Jane was attentive and so helpful during our dining experience. For the appetizer we had the salmon chicharron and mussels, both were delicious especially the wine/herb sauce that came with the mussels. As entrees my boyfriend ordered the half chicken and I had the shrimp scampi. The spaghetti in the scampi was perfectly al dente - I think it may have been the best shrimp scampi I had in my life! For dessert we had a beautiful chocolate cake topped with raspberries.
After dinner we checked out the local bars which were all in walking distance. The hotel is conveniently located to many other main attractions, restaurants and Yale University. Additionally, there are a handful of stunning wineries only 20 minutes away by car.
Amidst the pandemic, we felt super safe and cared for by the friendly team. We cannot thank Tom, the Blake Hotel and High George team enough for being so hospitable, kind and caring. Thank you for an unforgettable birthday weekend!

This hotel is new but it has its act together. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a lovely seating area with a couch and attractive decor as well as a small kitchen. The entire hotel- lobby, halls - was spacious and airy.
The location can’t be beaten. It’s downtown, a short walk to Yale and a plethora of restaurants and stores. The staff was always friendly and accommodating, a feat since they were suddenly at capacity overnight due to local power outages.
Don’t miss the lovely outdoor patio restaurant although book well ahead for dinner. Breakfast had a small but well conceived menu and attentive service.
They were full, including children and dogs, but we never were disrupted by noise from other rooms. We will definitely be back!

The Blake Hotel was not on our original road trip plan. But, do to unavailability of places to stay in a different New Mexico town, we headed to Taos. We had never stayed at The Blake Hotel before and were absolutely impressed; first class service from the moment you roll up, to the moment you leave. We stayed in a one-bedroom suite, which was spacious, had a ton of natural light, a fireplace, large kitchen, dining which accommodated seating for six people, in suite washer and dryer, and a large balcony with beautiful views.
The Hotel has a generous sized fitness facility, that overlooks the heated outdoor pool, and two outdoor hot-tubs. Though our stay was short, we did take advantage of a couple soaks while there. The bathrobes that were provided in our room, made the experience that more enjoyable!
You can’t beat the size and location of the Hotel, The size is perfect for a more personal experience, and the location, well, you can’t get much closer to the lift then this!
We stayed in late September however you definitely felt the Taos vibe! There was live music, and we sat outside, as we ate dinner at Rhoda’s (and enjoyed a glass of wine). The food was delicious, and would highly recommend the French Onion Soup.
My husband and I would like to thank Samuel and JC for their attentiveness and ensuring our stay was a memorable one! We will definitely be booking The Blake Hotel for our next family ski vacation!

The Blake hotel has a great location in new Haven easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. It was built in 2019 and has fantastic modern architecture and decor. The rooms are very spacious and beautifully appointed.
What makes the hotel truly outstanding is the incredible service from the staff. From the front of house to the housekeeping staff to the duty managers everyone is willing to go the extra mile for the guests. Whether it is remembering the extra honey for your tea in the morning, driving you to the train station in their personal car when your taxi does not arrive, or steaming a formal dress in house so you don’t have to take it to the dry cleaners, we were amazed by how the staff did to make our stay the best possible experience!!!
I could not recommend it more highly!!

We are pleased to feature convenient, valet parking for our guests for a fee.
No idea. Call them.
I honestly would say just to give the hotel a call and let them know you'll be arriving late.
I do not think it’s included. They also have an amazing coffee bar mornings in the lobby. Paid, of course, but sooo worth it!!
