We have just returned from a fabulous 4 night stay in The Reef lodge at Jacks Alt Stays. The accommodation was amazing with so much thought and love having gone into providing a modern, comfortable and eco friendly stay in Millport. From the ocean scented diffuser to the Arran aromatic toiletries, the voice controlled lights and blinds, supply of teas, coffees, biscuits and condiments, fresh milk and juice to the modern LG tv with Netflix, Disney plus etc on it. We also had a hammock outside our lodge which had been put in place the day we arrived and was a fabulous idea to lie and relax in . All the boxes were ticked. We took our 8 month old puppy with us and even she was well catered for with dog bowls, treats, towel and poop bags all provided! Everything about the place was spotlessly clean and the owners and staff do an amazing job. The lodges are a 5 minute walk to the busy seafront but are set in a lovely peaceful location which feels like you are in the middle of the countryside. I would recommend Lucas restaurant on the seafront for food in the evenings. We went twice and the food was excellent plus it is a dog friendly establishment which is handy to know. We will definitely return to stay at Jacks and can’t recommend it highly enough for a quirky modern stay with every comfort and amenity you could wish for.

Wow! This was hands down one of the best stays we’ve had in Scotland. The location alone was stunning, the cabin was immaculate as was the hot tub, we paid a little extra for the butler service so it was toasty hot for us arriving- kids were in straight away. It has everything you need, towels, robes and plates, glasses, cups, cooking equipment and shampoo/conditioner etc too, complimentary tea/coffee/cookies which was just so lovely. The Jack’s kept in touch before during and at the end of our stay and nothing was too much trouble. The cabins are far enough away from each other and completely private, the surroundings were quiet and peaceful and only a 5 minute walk down the hill to the beach and shops/pub etc. we ate breakfast at the dancing Midge about 6 minutes walk away and again the owner was so lovely and welcoming. We had a chippy dinner which was lovely too. There was a great buzz about the place and there was a mods festival ending as we arrived which was amazing as we got to see all the Vespa scooters! We slept great and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We’re definitely going back asap and plan to gift it to loved ones too as it’s a place everyone should experience at least once! The shower was amazing, each cabin has a theme and we stayed in ‘the hive’ and they even had a mini iPad playing calming nature music on our arrival as well as a scented air defuser which had honey and vanilla oil vaping into the air which smelled amazing! Such luxury in a beautiful setting and they’ve thought of the environment too, they plant 2 trees with each booking and everything is carefully thought through to protect the environment- it’s amazing! We noticed a few other guests in their cabins had their dogs with them as it’s animal friendly and such a lovely touch.
No complaints at all, just a wonderful, relaxing, calm and peaceful break. Adam happened to be there as we arrived and was so welcoming and helpful, telling us of places to eat etc but they have little booklets with everything you need to know.
Cannot wait to return. It’s a really special place and one of the happiest times we’ve had with our little family. Memories we will cherish forever! Thank you so much! X

Just back from a 2 night stay in the Hive. Cannot praise Jacks enough. Adam was there to welcome us, couldn’t have been more helpful. The “cabin” had everything you needed. Lots of space for us and our dog, yes, this place is 100% dog friendly, bowl, biscuits, towel, poo bags waiting in the cabin. Also lovely biscuits, tea and coffee for the humans. There is ample storage as well for everything you bring, so nothing needs to lie about the floor. Kitchen is very well equipped, and has a good size fridge. We chose the hive which sleeps 4, as it already had a bed made up, the other bed is a pull down. Bed was extremely comfy.
Lights, sounds, blinds are all controlled by Google pad, and as you enter the cabin for the first time, gently soothing sounds are being heard, and a diffuser is on, resulting in a very calming experience. The bathroom, what can I say, it’s MASSIVE, towels are extremely fluffy, Aran Aromatics toiletries for use, impressive shower as well.
The seating area is cosy , and has a large TV, with lots of streaming channels, and also has Netflix.
There is also a wide range of information on the web page, detailing how everything works, also hints on what to do, where to go, and for us dog owners, what restaurants and pups are dog friendly.
Finally there is a hot tub, however we did not make use of this, mainly due to the weather, but the boys will get it going for you if you want on your arrival ( a charge is payable).
The cabins are not overlooked, and there is lots of privacy, no one walks in front of your cabin to get to theirs, all entrances are made by waking from the rear to the front doors.
The boys have just won an award for their business, and I can see why.
Will definitely return

Myself and a friend arrived at the Hive cabin to celebrate my birthday. The Guys had hung a happy birthday bunting and wrote a wee welcome card and put a bottle of bubbles in the fridge. The best hospitality tray ever, and the honeycomb in chocolate was a lovely touch, as was the oil diffuser, beautiful fragrance. The Arran toiletries are a touch of luxury, and the bathroom was fab. The bed linen was the most comfy and soft that we have ever experienced. Wanted to take the pillows home. I loved the ethical and sustainable vibe. From the bedlinen used, to the loo roll, to the infra red heating to the recycling bins in the kitchen, down to the kitchen spray and washing up liquid. The hot tub was amazing as was the butler service to ensure it was lovely and toasty for us. We loved the use of technology and the car electric charging points. Even the stoneware crockery was ethically produced. And even if you are not bothered about all of that, the cabin was pure luxury and we had everything and more that we could possibly need. The Guys were also so very friendly and attentive, they are a credit to the area. I would highly recommend a stay in one of these truly superb cabins. Millport only a stones throw away. And Netflix and games for those rainy days. And the cherry on the top, the planting of a tree in one of many projects around the world just for staying at the place. Truly one of the best experiences ever, we felt so relaxed and comfortable and had a totally guilt free holiday. Simply loved it.

Just back from our second stay at these spectacular cabins and will definitely be back again as it was just perfect!! We stayed in the Birdbox this time and loved the extra space and all the wee touches that made it truly unique. The cabin was absolutely spotless and the attention to detail is truly outstanding, guys you have excelled yourselves!! The location is perfect and so tranquil, sitting out in the evening listening to all the birds was so peaceful and watching all the bunnies running about in the morning was so cute. We didn’t need to bring anything as all bedding, throws, towels, robes, fresh orange / milk, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits, washing up liquid, toilet roll, toiletries and a fab wee dog pack are included!! We love that the cabins are eco friendly and so much care and attention has been put into the design but they are totally luxurious and unique. Can’t wait to visit again next time and looking forward to trying either The Hive or The Reef. Please don’t change a thing as everything is perfect.

Fantastic stay from start to finish.

Adam and the team were so informative on the lead up to the stay and texting us on the day of check-in to let us know the cabin was ready earlier than expected and an update on the ferry situation.

When we arrived the cabin was immaculately clean. Lovely white bed linen, towels and bathrobes alongside really nice arran products in the huge bathroom.

They have really thought of everything with the space and facilities. Well equipped kitchen with fresh milk and orange juice included. Everything you need for self catering with oil, foil, salt & pepper & loads of crockery and cookware. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits also included.

The fold down bed was really comfortable with great pillows and good to have a powerful fan as it was a hot couple of days.

The outside area is really lovely with a private decking which has been made really calming with all the plants out looking onto a communal green.

We paid for the Hot Tub butler service meaning it was at full temperature for us arriving and can easily fit four people. As this was hot for us arriving there was very little effort keeping this hot the full weekend and the team also topped this up on the second morning too.

Would also recommend the quality of the breakfast pack from the local butchers.

All in all this was one of the best staycation cabins we have ever been to and already organising a return visit.

We had the best time at Jack’s Alt Stays in Millport, Isle of Cumbrae. Easy ferry crossing from Largs and if you choose to leave your car and arrive on foot, the bus meets every ferry to take you into Millport. From there it’s a short walk up College Street on pavements with street lights almost all the way. You see the cabins as you approach because they all have fairy lights outside. If you do bring your car, there is parking and electric charging points. The cabins are extremely well appointed with literally everything you need. You could cook a whole meal, and you don’t even need to bring tea and coffee - it’s all there. Google Home Hub is linked to the TV, lights and heating and can even play your favourite songs via Spotify. We were welcomed into the Hive with an aromatherapy diffuser with Jacks bespoke honey and vanilla scenting the air - like a spa. Comfy bed - there was only two of us so we didn’t try the second pull down wall bed. The bathroom is luxury with heated towel rail and mirror, luxury Arran Aromatics toiletries plus high quality towels, and bathrobes - the latter come in handy when getting in and out of your own personal wood fired hot tub. We opted for the butler service so the tub was ready when we got there, buts it’s super easy and Adam can show you what to do. We also opted for the butchers pack so we could have cooked breakfast. It was lovely. Even in November there were plenty local businesses open, and Jacks have blogs telling you all about them. We didn’t walk round the 10mile Island this time, opting to sit on the seafront drinking coffee and enjoying 15oC temperature amongst the palm trees - in November. Oh and the cabins all have solar panels for power so they are eco friendly, and they’ve planted a tree for every guest who stays. Absolutely the best place we’ve stayed and we will definitely go back.

An amazing eco cabin near Millport, Jacks consists of 5 eco cabins all with hot tubs, we stayed in The Woods which is for up to 2 people and nice dogs are allowed (small charge but they do get a welcome pack).
We were met by Daniel who was very friendly, helpful and approachable, nothing was a problem, in fact all the staff were so friendly and helpful.
When we arrived there was a selection of tea, coffee and biscuits along with a bottle of milk and orange in the fridge, the cabins are themed and would guess all are finished with the same quality/attention to detail.
The Woods is a stunning cabin, the design and layout makes you feel secluded, the shower room/toilet area is very functional and finished to a high standard there was shampoo/conditioner and shower gel, towels etc.
The rest of the cabin is a kitchen/ living/sleeping area. The seated area transforms easily into a very nice comphy double bed, the kitchen area is good with a small fridge, cooker, hob, microwave kettle and toaster.
The cabin is finished to a high standard with great attention to detail from the electric blinds and Google controlled lights to the box of games for a rainy day. The quality continues to the outside of the cabin with an amazing hot tub which is easy to heat up and very efficient.
Looking at the stay overall, Jacks has been set up with the environment in mind and is value for money, it is a 10 minute stroll from the sea front/ Millport front, we had an amazing, relaxing and peaceful stay, the cabin was very clean.
The only issue was we had to leave but will return.
Well done to the owners and staff that have made our stay so nice 👍

These boys have created such beautiful and peaceful accommodation that my friend and I were sorry to leave. They have thought of everything from the bedding, the robes, towels that were absolutely spotless and the size of the shower room was outstanding. They also had dog bowls, towels and treats for my two little dogs. They had beautiful toiletries and all the other extras like different flavoured teas, coffee and biscuits plus the cabin smelled beautiful due to the fabulous scented misty burner. They also had the hot tub prepared for us, I can’t praise them or thank them for the lovely weekend we had there. I highly recommend Jack’s Alt Stays and can’t wait to return.

we returned a few days ago from staying in ‘the woods’, I can’t compliment the boys enough! The place they have here is fantastic! Very modern with an edge! My husband enjoyed setting up the hot tub himself but believe the Adam and Daniel would do this for you. The hot tub was cleaned after we used it and new fuel to restart it was given if we needed it! There is a booklet with all the information you need on your cabin, the island, places to see/eat/drink! Everything had been so well thought through! The games box is a great touch we really enjoyed playing the games! We were due to leave on the Friday when the storm was coming in and on the Thursday Adam let us know about the weather and gave us suggestions to leave early if we wanted to get home, we ended up leaving the night before just so we would get stranded on Millport, but both Adam and Daniel couldn’t have been more helpful! Great for a staycation and don’t forget to check out the local butchers, their steak and gravy pie is to die for !! We will be back, thanks for everything guys!
