The Springs Resort garners high marks for its exceptional service, with guests consistently lauding the staff's friendliness and efficiency. While some consider the rooms overpriced and in need of an update, the resort's atmosphere is often described as relaxing and welcoming, despite a few noting it could use some enhancements.
Its prime location is a hit for those looking to explore the surrounding area's attractions. The highlight for many guests is the variety of amenities on offer, especially the hot springs, which are available around the clock and praised for their cleanliness and stunning views.

We’ve been coming to the Springs for our anniversary trip for years! During the Covid years we had some not amazing experiences here, however this year they’ve completely redeemed themselves.
The staff has all been amazing, especially our spa experience with Abbie, Sodie, Theresa and Amy. I recommend the classic facial, they use locally crafted products which were amazing!
The rooms are clean and comfortable, they may not be as boujee as some people would like at this price but your not paying for that, you’re paying for the 24 hour soaking experience, which cannot be beat. Until next time Pagosa!

We’ve stayed at the Pagosa Springs resort a couple of times before and have never been disappointed with our stay. Both times we stayed in the large building towards the rear of the site where the rooms are large, cool, comfortable and clean (having a small kitchen area and a large sofa bed in the type of room we selected). We've always had a good night's sleep when staying here with no noise to bother us.
If you’ve stayed at Pagosa Springs resort before you will know that the price of your stay includes unlimited access to all the pools in the spa resort. On previous visits we haven’t had chance to make the most of the pools but on this occasion we made sure to! Robes are included in the room so you can walk to and from the pools and back to your room comfortably (keeping warm if there is a chill in the air early morning). We utilised the pools early morning to avoid being crowded, as they are available to people staying in hotel 24/7, but unfortunately the guys were right in the middle of draining, cleaning and refilling most of the pools. There were one or two which we could still use but we weren’t too bothered because it was 5 a.m. and they have to clean them at some point! It just shows how hard they are working to keep everything nice & clean for the guests. We still enjoyed a dip in the available pools and enjoyed a chat with some of the staff members (who were very friendly and interesting, and willing to take a quick break from the cleaning work to chat with us).
As lots of other people have no doubt stated in their reviews, members of the public who aren’t staying at the hotel can also use the spa facilities however the timings are limited so hotel guests have longer to enjoy the pools. The water is amazing too - I suffer with eczema and dry skin but after spending some time in the water even just for one day, it makes such a difference and I noticed my skin feeling better. The smell is unusual if you haven’t been in a natural hot springs before, but you soon become accustomed to the slightly sulphurous smell and enjoy the heat and relaxation that comes along with it. The location right next to the river is fabulous & I can’t wait for another chance to visit in the future.

I have visited the Pagosa Springs Hot Springs 3 times in the last year and have stayed at The Springs resort the last 2 times. I will never visit this place again without staying at the resort. It's soo worth it if you are not from the area. The 24 access alone is worth it. There are quite a few room options and I've always found the rooms to be clean with amenities that fit my needs like a microwave, refrigerator and a decent wifi to be able to work remotely if needed. Which I have during my previous stay and all went well. The staff is always helpful and friendly.
This most recent stay was during covid restrictions and other than the obvious -'we practically had the place to ourselves feeling' the added safety rules (masks and pool capacities) never felt uncomfortable or restrictive. We enjoyed our time and can't wait to visit again. I'm a fan.

This place is not worth the $400/night. We thought that premium price allowed for use of the hot springs. It does...along with the 250+ outside guests they allow in every day. If each of the 24 pools allow only 5 people on average, that’s still well over capacity. And that’s not accounting for ANY OF THE HOTEL GUESTS trying to use the hot springs.
We tried to go when we arrived on Friday. It was difficult to find a pool that didn’t have capacity seating. Our family took turns or wore a mask standing beside the pool so we weren’t breaking the rules. However, if felt like we were the only ones. Our two older teens never went to the pools again, they were to annoyed with how reckless the visitors were. We tried to take our 9 year old out at 8pm Saturday, found a big pool with two people in it to make sure we were at (vs. over) capacity. Immediately two very drunk (visitor) couples got in and started talking vulgar. This is supposed to be a “family friendly” place. I got out looking for a less crowded pool. Then all their buddies got in and there wasn’t even a place for me to sit. We grabbed our masks and escaped to our room. Two different employees told me that 250+ guests/half capacity were let in. See my numbers above, that’s dangerous and reckless.
Do not stay here. I hate to sound like a total Karen, but nowhere on the website anywhere does it state that you’ll be competing with crowds of outsiders. Do not pay a premium to stay here, the rooms are dated and you don’t get to use the hot springs you’ll think you’re paying for access to. They clearly have totally disregard for following the state health regulations, putting their employees in danger plus sending tourists back home with a high risk of getting sick.
I’m sad we drove 5 hours from northern Denver to escape the smoke and had such a terrible experience here. And if you do go, plan on using the pools either after 10pm or from sunrise to 8am when they start letting outsiders in.

We are sorry we were not what you expected during your stay. Our hot spring pools are available to hotel guests (24 hour soaking access) as well as to the general public who purchase day soaking passes. We limit the amount of day soaking passes and are well under the limit that is allowed in accordance to local and state health dept. regulations. The CDC also recommends that masks are not to be worn while in the water. We understand that everyone has a different comfort level during these odd times, but we are all doing our best to adapt in the best way possible. All the information is on our website, as well as soaking passes for day guests, as hotel guests do not need to purchase passes to enjoy our pools. We will review the messaging on our website.

We are in shock- the minimum to stay here made us think this would be a classy resort. The photos and reviews seemed lovely. We were celebrating so we booked their most expensive suite $700 a night. We have never paid more than $200 a night ever. We knew we were in trouble at check in, with the hot pocket and lean cuisine table. When we looked at our room we were both shocked, the room was outdated and gross. It shared a balcony with an adjoining room with a view of a highway. The bed wasn’t even a queen. The jetted tub was a small bathtub. So we were like Ok let’s try to make the best of it let’s check out the springs.
The outdoor area (wristband needed) felt like a glorified Six Flags. The whole place is so trashy. We are talking about an ancient sacred site, healing hot springs. There is nothing relaxing or healing about the place. You have a bunch of families eating corn dogs and trashing the place. The “restaurant” on site is garbage food sources from who knows where. It’s over crowded and did not respect COVID safety at all.
We knew we had to leave when we saw a fat old white guy hitting on the young female bartender boating about all of the under age women in bikinis. This was straight up worse than Jeffery Epstein’s basement.
If you care about respecting nature or want a peaceful relaxing trip do not come here.
Biggest waste of money we cancelled our reservation we couldn’t get out of the one night. So we spent $700 (half our rent) on a dirty dark creepy hotel room.
The holiday inn off 66 on our road trip made us feel safer and was way nicer for $70 a nights.
Such a scam.

The Springs has an extensive hot springs and a brand new high quality hotel building. However, they also have some very expensive substandard rooms. We stayed in the Sugar Loaf Mountain Suite, billed as a three room suite with two queen beds for a total off season rate of over $500 total. With that billing and at that price, we expected at least 4 star quality and something a bit special. Unfortunately, the Resort overpromised and undelivered.
What we received was total living space approximately the size of a large hotel room. The “queen” beds were double beds with one crammed into a room so small that it was difficult to walk around the bed.
The small bedroom did not have heat; only an older window air conditioner. All furnishings were of a quality that could easy be found at the local second hand store. The couch was barely big enough for two people. The entire “suite” was painted in an awful mustard yellow which made the space seem dark and closed in. The carpeting appeared old and patched together.
In contrast, however, the kitchen and bath had beautiful granite counters and new cabinets. But the bathroom, almost as large as the small bedroom, had its beautiful cabinetry and granite counter brought back to average with a fiberglass tub/shower insert. The space begged for a classy tile bath but not to be delivered.
The entire space created two impressions. First, that the resort needed some two bedroom units and decided to cram four into an older building that only had the capacity for two or maybe three. Second, the project looked like it started with good intentions, in spite of the inadequate floor plan, and after completing the kitchen and part of the bath, COVID hit and the owners panicked and just threw whatever they had in storage in the space to get the unit on the market. Unfortunately, they failed to disclose this fact to the guest in advance nor did they adjust the rate to match the 2 star product they delivered rather than the 4 star experience that was anticipated.
We counted on the ability to soak on the morning of departure but the water temperatures plummeted overnight and the warmest pool at 9AM was 102 with every other pool in the 90s. This removed a large portion of the experience for which we paid such a high rate.
The customer service staff was courteous and helpful. The coffee shop was below average. In 2020 you don’t promise a 4 star experience and fail to offer an espresso bar relying instead on something similar to terrible drip coffee.
The new hotel lobby is very beautiful and high quality. It would seem the new hotel rooms might be the same, but we had no access to those rooms. Just beware of the old section. We will not return after paying way too much for the experience offered.

Pros: we like that we can soak the day we check in even though we're a bit early and our room is not ready and you can also soak until 6pm the day you check out. We like the individual soaking areas, I think there's 19 + 5 for adults with diff temps. The location is really nice, you can go down to the creek right from the hot springs, which I find really charming. Walking distance to restaurants, try Tequila's it's really good!
Cons: It is a bit pricey, we paid about $350/night and we're put in this motel type building. The beds are too small, it's probably smaller than double bed? My husband and I did not get a good sleep for 2 nights at all, you need to update your website. People are not following the allowed number of people per tub and the workers/security is not doing anything about it. It was overbooked and crowded, aside from the hotel guests they are not limiting the outside day customers.

Thank you for your valuable feedback. I'm sorry that you did not feel comfortable with the soakers while you were here. We are following the state guidelines of how many non-hotel guests we are allowed to admit into the pool area, we have actually been stricter on the number of people allowed to soak. We understand these are uncertain times and everyone has a different level of comfort, but we hope will visit again when you feel more comfortable.

Because of Covid, masks were required everywhere except in the pools which were limited by number and space, as well as the facility which only allowed so many in at any given time (there was a line as we were leaving). For example, one pool (of the 14 different pools of varying temps) would only allow 6 persons. We arrived here early and claimed our spots. There are showers and locker areas to change into your bathing suits if needed (lockers themselves were NOT available, showers were available). There was food and drink for purchase. Entry fee was about $35.00 per person. Stay as long as you like. We stayed about 4 hours and soaked until perfectly relaxed. This area is riverside. Parking can be tough to find if you come late. Restaurants nearby. Not required that you are a guest at any of the resorts, you can come in off the streets.

This is about the spa only, not the hotel, I've never stayed in the hotel. I have been going to the spa for at least the last 15 years. We always enjoy a good soak after a hard day of skiing. This year (January 2020) we attempted to go twice only to leave disappointed twice.
We come there after skiing, change our clothes, go to the tubs, soak, shower, change and go to dinner. While we are in the tubs, we place our things in a locker they provide, very nice.
The first night there, we were told no more lockers, we could change in our car. What? We left.
So we went back a few days later , they tell us the men's locker room is under construction, but they do have lockers and showers. Great, we pay the tab and go back to get ready. What they have for temporary locker rooms is totally inadequate. The lockers are outside set on the side walk. The shower/changing room is a tent that holds at most 4 people at a time. We looked at this, turned around and left. Normally we are not very fussy kind of guys, we really wanted to soak. They did refund us out money, although the first night it took some conversation with management to make that happen.
I am sure when the construction is complete, this is a place we will want to go again. So in the mean time, if you are headed that way , and not staying at the resort, be prepared. If you are staying locally, maybe change there and come on over. So check and see how the construction is going, before you go.

Response from SpringsMgmt, General Manager at The Springs Resort
Responded 10 Jan 2020
We clearly did not achieve our goal of creating a relaxing experience. Several items you described are not in line with the solutions in place while we complete the locker room rejuvenation. I will have the concerns addressed to avoid this in the future. The locker rooms are nearly done. Thank-you for your feedback.

The hotel and hot springs are awesome, and the staff was extremely kind and helpful. The robes provided are great for walking to springs in. For me, it was awesome being able to go over to the springs any time of the day. I liked going in the evening and night and early morning when few people were around and being able to make intermittent visits to the springs because of the convenience of the hotel. The only negative aspect of my stay was the strong smell of chemical cleaner right when I entered the room and which didn't go away during my stay. (I only stayed one night.) Even when I got home, my things that had been in the room still smelled of it! I would like to see them use a natural cleaner instead since this affects whether I return. (Perhaps they would say that it's a "natural" cleaner, but it sure doesn't smell that way, and it doesn't smell nice.) I don't want to be worrying about what I'm breathing in when I stay there. I emailed the hotel with my concern but got no response, and a couple days later I responded to the email request for feedback and again got no response, which kind of left a bad taste in my mouth.

We flew in to Denver and drove from there. It was a 5-hour drive.
Hi Jerald-
Sky Ute Casino with about a 45-minute drive from our property.
NO casino. And I'm not sure if there is one close by.
