We are mostly dispersed campers and don't typically like staying in developed campgrounds but if they were all like Elk Creek we might change our minds. The staff was all so friendly and welcoming, the spots were small but beautiful and so well maintained, the on-site, off-leash dog park made it so much nicer for our pups, and the little touches, such as pails of water on each fire ring to ensure fire safety, was just extra sweet. We will be back!

Sites are close together, and placement can be weird, like trying to get as many sites in there as possible. I thought our site 23, a premium site, was small, but after walking the campground realized ours shaped like a wedge, was a decent site. I didn't use the facilities like restrooms, and laundry. Some grass areas to walk the dogs, with trash cans and doggie bags supplied. They have dog park we didn't use as I never found it. Nice stream. Secluded tent sites. We camped in 36 foot wheel. Best Internet in any campground we have ever stayed. Starlink with 4 or 5 routers around camp. We were impressed!! Several noisy campers after 10pm quiet time. Loud until after 1130pm. Staff needs to make 10pm rounds to quiet the campers who feel entitled.

Great location, clean showers with hot water, peaceful, friendly staff. The campfire had a bucket with water to put out the fire. We even extended our stay to the staff accommodated an additional night for us during a busy time. Only about an hour drive from Aspen.

OK people when you read the other reviews that are bad look at the dates , this place has been under new management since April 2020 ,we were here in September Dawn and her husband Earl are super friendly this place is a great deal. if you were to try to book a Reservation at any of the other campgrounds they charge you for everything and you can’t have anything outside of your rig it’s ridiculous how strict they are. this place is super laid-back and Dawn and Earl drive around in their cart and visit with everybody Since Dawn and Earl took over Earl has been fixing and renovating and upgrading everything in the campground it continually gets better and they’re not slowing down it’s a great hideaway right out of Glenwood Springs tucked in a small canyon it makes a great stop over place we walked over to the tent sites and they are just as good as the Rv spots and if your tent camping they have Hot showers and bathrooms and laundry area. keep an eye on this place over the next couple years for all the improvements. the secrets out make sure to tell them you Justin recommended it

Let's shout it from the rooftops this place is Amazing! Nestled in a fabulous forested valley in Newcastle. Far enough away from the bustle of the city and the sounds of traffic and highway. Yet close enough for all your adventurous wants and needs! The creek that runs thru the campground is a pure delight to dip and play in. Whether you select a riverside site or not the creek is accessible to all visitors! It's been a blessing to call this place home for the time we are allowed! Thank you Elk Creek Campground for all the amazing support and help you provided! Shane, Lisa, Steven, Mark, LOGAN, Terry and Tom, thank you for all the hard work and effort you put into this glorious place!

This campground is wonderful. We had site 52 for our travel trailer. The stream was about 25 feet from our campsite where we could watch the fish swimming. Great hiking trails and very friendly and helpful hosts! Grounds were tidy and well kept.

Elk Creek is a very clean campground. Love the fact that there is a laundry and bath house. The staff were all very friendly. The setting is beautiful and there are several RV sites on the creek. They also have camping cabins. There is fishing if you have a license, but it is catch and release, so bring non- barbed hooks. Be sure to visit Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, it is just a short drive down I- 70.

We pulled our 27' camper into the campground and immediately noticed the space (#8) was a little tight from the trees and bushes that had grown in. I talked with Julie and she coordinated to get us help parking the rig safely without any issues. The very next day, Julie had worked her magic and more help arrived to trim the trees and bushes to ensure we had adequate room. It was done very quickly and was not obtrusive in the least bit. Julie offered to make things right by going the extra mile by extending our stay as we tentatively were planning on adding an additional night. When the time came, we decided we needed to pack up because we needed to get home and Julie canceled the extra night with no fees or trouble of any kind. Elk Creek is definitely where I'll be camping from now on when I'm in the area!

Great little spot nestled away in cozy little canyon in the foothills north of I-70. A rustic setting along-side a pretty little and a soothing to listen to creek. The lots are nestled in and nicely sized. Both Earl and Dawn are enthusiastic camp hosts and were always checking in to see if we needed anything. The only downside is that it's a little pricey and cellular coverage is marginal. It would be good if they boosted their WiFi internet signal to make up for the lack of cellular coverage. With all that said, I would highly recommend this campground for great family relaxation, or just a simple quiet get-away.

Not your typical asphalt RV parking lot. Rarely can you find a full hookup site in a natural setting along a roaring creek. The park has a variety of accommodations with full hookup sites, a “tent” section with electricity (lovely for small RVS as well) and log cabins. Many of the sites are along the creek as it meanders through the camp.
Location is great as well. Easy drive from I-70 but far enough to be out of town. Also a quick drive into Glenwood Springs.
New owners purchased park in April 2021 and are improving facilities while maintaining the natural feel. Check-in was easy even without reservations. The new owners are very friendly and welcoming.
