Detailed Reviews
The good...This was during COVID-19. The clean room was nice. It had the basic amenities: fridge, micro, dresser, flat screen TV, hair dryer, desk & chair. Due to COVID there was only coffee available in the breakfast area and it was decent coffee. A bonus. Overall, good especially the price. I would stay again.
The bad...Dirty room upon check-in. New clean room established and he apologized. Staff, indifferent. Staff needs to wear face coverings at all times.
Notes...Be sure to check your app for location if booking by app. I wanted Glenwood Springs and got New Castle without noticing. 20+ miles out of my way, round trip. Not the hotel's fault. My own fault. :(

The hotel was nice. The check in experience was problem free. We were even able to check in a little bit early. The room was clean and larger than expected. The breakfast was good although the selections were limited. The only negative thing I have to say about our room is the mattress. It was hard and uncomfortable. Both my wife and I woke up each morning with extremely sore backs.

Just stayed one night. Hotel was nice and fairly priced I think. Left before breakfast so not sure what they had other than coffee. Had a menu for meals but once again, did not get there in time to try it. Overall hotel was not bad for stay.

This motel has rates that vary greatly depending on time of year and date. There is limited staff on site. Often you speak to a kiosk with someone who is in an unknown location. The bed was good but room was pretty beaten up with dated decor. Breakfast was adequate and standard fare for a budget motel. Unfortunately lodging choices are very limited in this lovely little town.

There are good and bad surprises, without a doubt this hotel was a bad surprise from the beginning. I made the first contact 10 months ago to reserve 15 rooms for me and my friends. Initially everything seemed ok. Afterwards the hotel was renamed Wingate, from then on communication became difficult. until I asked a friend who lives near the hotel to check if the reservation was still active. Front Desk confirmed the reservation and then I confirmed my travel itinerary with the stay at this hotel. After all, there were 15 rooms. It turns out that when I arrived for check-in, I was informed that my reservation had been canceled 1 hour before my arrival. This didn't just happen to me, I saw other guests with the same problem. Simply absurd! Apparently, the hotel owner became aware of an incident that blocked I-70 and the search for accommodation in the region would become very high. Therefore, the hotel owner found it interesting to cancel reservations on his own and inflate the price of the stay. I'm a frequent traveler in Colorado, I always take a group of friends with me and Wingate New Castle is definitely no longer part of my accommodation options in the region.

We stayed 5 nights at the Lodge at New Castle. And it was great,
The hotel is nearly on the arm of the highway, very convenient, specially when it snows.
Our car was parked on the free parking and we could see it from our window.
The hotel was quiet and so very clean, I want to emphasize : everything was spotless.
The room got cleaned everyday, clean towels placed in our bathroom The bath or shower was a pleasure as the warm water came on as soon as turned on. I enjoy hot water, and I can tell you it was hot. Naturally one could regulate it to ones wishes.
Breakfast was a help yourself in the breakfast room, hard boiled eggs, cheese, youghurt, bread, waffel maker, cereal, coffee tea chocolate. It all was there plentifully.
oh and last but not least, the hotel has an indoor swimming pool and jaccuzi,
As I said I do not like cold water. The pool was just at right temperature and the jaccuzi was at normal temperature too. The pool room is well heated and on can relax on a long chair without being cold.
Our stay was reasonable and well worth while.
We look forward to our next stay at the Lodge in New Castle.

We had a really nice time.
Check in was smooth, via the kiosk (they let us check in early at 1:30).
The whole place was clean and fresh. Our room was just perfect. Breakfast was the expected scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, yogurt, etc etc. But good.
We would definitely come here again!
Note: after we saw the negative reviews we hesitated, but we are so glad we did!!

Do not book this hotel. I called to hold a room as there was a road closure. Provided my credit card details to hold the booking for 1 night. I was assured by the hotel they could do this and would not charge my card, as the card details were only required to hold the room. I called back, not even 30 mins later, to politely let them know to cancel the holding room. To my surprise, they had already charged my credit card details and even said there will be a cancellation fee applied on top. Full scam!

My experience with this hotel has always been wonderful. I stay her once a year for 1 night when passing through to see family. Many changes have occurred since Covid and I am happy to see the staff remain so positive. Acrylic screens are at the front desk and everyone including cleaners are in masks. The service remains cheerful despite slower than their slower than normal Summer.

My 2nd stay in over a year. Highly recommend if staying near Glenwood Springs. Affordable prices than the higher price hotels in Glenwood Springs
Clean rooms, new floors. Updated breakfast with eggs, sausage links, pancakes with their breakfast
Grocery store nearby and New Castle downtown is close by for great local food
