Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This hotel has many positives and needs some work in other areas. Bring your own pen. While the front office staff tries to be virus-safe, you will need to use the same pens used by everyone else (not wiped down) and there are none in the room. There is no hand sanitizer in the lobby. The social distancing signs for elevator use need to be placed ON each door, since people don't/can't read the signs. The wi-fi is very poor. Staying connected was a challenge. The parking lot is poorly lit. POSITIVES: It was really nice to have automatic doors to the lobby so you don't have to touch handles. The elevators are quick and have floor indicators. The beds are comfortable. I would stay here again for the value.

The Grand Vista Hotel is a late 1970s or early 1980s former chain hotel. Once upon a time it was a Ramada Inn.

Rooms are clean, but a little basic and pretty outdated. Most of the furniture and decor, both in rooms and public spaces, was last updated around 2001. The overall theme is a mix between rustic lodge and your grandmother or great aunt's house. Basically, interior decorating on the cheap.

The restaurant and bar is pretty typical low-end and medium-range hotel food. Nothing to memorable. On par with a Village Inn or Applebee's. You're better off ordering Uber Eats from Outback or going to Wendy's.

The location is convenient for the airport and interstate highway road trippers.

For under $100 this is an acceptable value, but anyone paying more than that may want to stay elsewhere like the brand new Hotel Maverick.

A lot of my review is based on the shower. The water pressure was very low. What else was low was the shower head. I'm 5'11" and had to duck several inches to wash my hair and I'm not really that tall but I kept bumping my head on it. The drain wasn't working well and the water was building up. There was no lotion or no conditioner provided. Moving on, the room is stuck in the early 2000s based on the television set and the plug situation. It looked like there used to be some in the desk but they were gone. There weren't any by the bed. The only ones were behind the desk or where the coffee maker is and this is 2021 where everything needs charging. There is no safe in the room and I felt very unsafe leaving my belongings in there. The front desk staff was cheeky replying to my thank you with a short "yep" after a similar cheeky and scripted interaction. Positivity though, the bed was fine and I had a comfortable night of sleep. The view looking over the airport and the Bookcliffs were the best part. So the Grand Vista is okay, the airline staff stay here, it's reasonably priced. However, you see why. You have to weigh what's more important to you. Also, if you use a debit card, they will put a hold of $100 on it that’s not released until after you check out. I booked through Hotwire and was not aware of this until after my arrival. Make sure you have these funds, but plan on having them unavailable!

I booked an ADA accessible room because my husband is permanently disabled. I called to insure that this was done two days prior to arrival because I never received an email confirmation. The person who I spoke with confirmed that it was a handicap room. We arrived the 24th of July. As I was checking in I again was assured that I had a handicap room. We get to the room to find a toilet that was about 14" off the floor, no shower chair although they did bring one, The grab bars were very high and the bathroom door was also odd as they had to notch it so that it would open leaving a nice hole for peepers. Best of all was the bed 4' high and rock hard but the A/C unit was so high that I had to get on a chair to set the temperature. Fair warning, if you are in a wheelchair make sure that you take an able body to assist you with getting off the toilet, take a shower, setting the A/C and getting into the cement hard 4' high bed.

I recently stayed at your hotel on Crossroads Blvd in Grand Junction,
March 28-30 in room 519. I thought you might be interested in my review of your hotel:
1. I had constant problems getting into my room with the key-swipe, even with brand new cards
2. The phone didn't work
3. The used towels were never replaced
4. Coffee packets were never replenished
5. The door to the adjoining room was locked but was not sound proof and I
could hear everything going on in the other room - word for word
conversations & what they were watching on TV.
It made going to sleep and staying asleep all but impossible.

My advice to you is to never stay at this hotel.

Might be a less expensive hotel than most , but you do get what you pay for. The showers will turn from warm to extremely hot and scald you. happens all the time. Also when they say Free High Speed WiFi That is a total lie. Don't even bother bringing your computer or Ipad to watch Netflix or anything else that needs to be streaming, The WiFi is Horrible, You cant even watch a show without it buffering 20 times during the show. Even local tv has to buffer as you are watching it. the walls are so think in this hotel that you can hear everything the next door person is saying and doing. This is the only Hotel I have ever stayed at that does NOT have coffee in the lobby. its in the cafe at $2.50 a cup. also dont get out of the shower and open the bathroom door too quick, The fire alarm will go off. it has happened several times to us. stay at one of the other Hotels in the area. Pay a little more get a lot back

Though this is an older hotel, the establishment is well cared for and the staff are attentive hosts. There is a great dining area in the lobby and several great local dining options within walking distance. I feel the lodging here is on par with the higher end hotels nearby, albeit at a much greater value. I look forward to staying here again on future visits to this area.

Let me start with $10 per day for parking. This is unusual when other local hotels have free parking. BEWARE! If you utilize 3rd party booking, check to see the totals. They have the basic room which looks like a good price until you see the total. There are packages that include breakfast for almost no additional when you look at the totals. Places like this try the nickel and dime strategy rather than improving the dated rooms. The rooms have no usable outlets by the bed (either side). The only ones in the main room are the 3 on the desk. The counter person also asked my spouses name "incase they wanted a card key." (Note every location has just given me 2 without even asking. In the past they just asked how many you needed but now they just give 2.) This was the first time that any hotel or motel ever asked me for the names of the people in my party. This just feels like a violation of privacy. This makes me feel that there are other more severe issues with this location. Once again, beware.
Supplemental - Upon checkout we noticed that residents of the county (that the hotel is located) are not allowed to stay in this hotel. So, there is something up with this location.

1am loud talking from the outside and we were on the 6th floor! Beds were horrible. Service had attitude and the breakfast buffet for $16 was microwave eggs, fruit from City Market, and microwave pancakes. $10 for overnight parking was a joke!! Not a quiet night away from home ! Don't stay here!

We were shocked at the condition of the hotel, how much it has degraded since our last visit 2 years ago. We had paid online, but then they charged us another $14 per night for parking. After checking in I wanted to go see the spa. There was a note taped over the controls that said that none of the jets were working. The spa was covered over with green oily slime that was literally bubbling! Decided to go to our room. One of the elevators was out of order. Got to the room, the key wouldn't work. Finally got that taken care of. Walked into the room (non-smoking), it was like being hit in the face with the smell of an old ashtray. Our door leading into the hall from our room was not safe. It was very hard to close and secure the door. We could see light through the gaps in the door. My husband tried to use the shower, but the water just dribbled. They did replace the shower head, which took care of the problem. The decor was very old and outdated. The carpets were old, dirty, and coming apart at the seams. The breakfast is $14, if you wanted bacon or sausage it's $18. Ordered a high priced decaf coffee, it was instant coffee and tasted horrible. There is no room service. I could go on and on, but I think you get the jest of what I'm saying. The rates are a little lower than other hotels, but you know the old saying, 'You get what you pay for'. That's especially true at the Grand Vista Hotel. I don't exactly know how to describe the feeling as we were leaving. I was relieved.
