A dirty hotel room is unpleasant at any time, but during a pandemic it is appalling. I had to go to Grand Junction because of a family emergency. I had a bunch of disinfectant wipes with me, thinking I'd wipe down the light switches, door handle, and other areas I was likely to touch. The room looked clean, at first glance. But as I started to do my bit of extra cautious wipe-down, I kept finding messes. I ended up having to re-clean the entire room. Every surface, kitchenette (microwave, refrigerator, etc), tub, and some chairs. There was a sticky substance on a table and the desk, something that looked like yogurt smeared on the arm of the desk chair, crumbs on a couple of chairs. The refrigerator had a lot of food debris, and clearly had not been cleaned at all. Microwave had smeary fingerprints on the outside. Hairs in the bathroom that I won't describe. Housekeeping had clearly done the bare minimum, The bed was neatly made and lamp bases and faucets had been wiped with a linty rag, so I could tell it had been done. I went down, intending to tell someone at the desk about this, but no staff could be found. I spent one night there because I had to, but am unlikely to return even after the pandemic. Marriott makes a big deal about all the extra cleaning they do, aware that there is a significant risk posed if the previous occupant of a room had Covid-19, symptomatic or not. This is a nasty, easily transmissible virus. Apparently this Residence Inn did not get the memo.

Believe it or not, rather than find a rental house here in Grand Junction while our new home is being built, we have found the cost and conveniences of this hotel to be more than adequate for our temporary abode. The staff are a pleasure to talk to and get to know; they are always anxious to please or address any room issues, even being proactive in asking for things they can do for us to make our stay more enjoyable. The two ladies who prepare the hot breakfasts welcome us each morning with fresh coffee and healthy, varied breakfast options The rooms are clean, we can set the room temperature to whatever we need (hot or cold) depending on the outside, we never hear another soul once we turn in for the night (thick walls?). We keep three vehicles in their lighted parking lot, which is another big positive. Mostly though, the BEST part of our stay here (after the hot breakfasts) are the STAFF! They are great, always joy-filled and professional. Sometimes, my husband and I joke that we may have to keep coming here for morning coffee after we've finally moved into our new home!

We have always liked this Residence Inn in the past. The location is good for going over to Moab, Canyonlands and the Colorado River. The location is still good. However, during COVID times I am extremely disappointed in the way things went. On the one hand, you give up a lot during these times but pay the same rate. No hot breakfast (of course), no garbage taken out or new towels. I guess you had to ask for the process to have this stuff done, but I think we should have been told at check in. We had no soap when we checked in. My big concern was the lack of masks on some of the staff. Two staff members got in the elevator with us and didn’t have a mask. Same in the hallway next morning. The sign outside states customers need to wear them into the bldg and all open spaces. I saw staff walk in without them. What gives. There was a huge sign in the lobby about the cleaning processes. I was disappointed as we chose Marriott for extra protection. I was concerned that our room had been cleaned by someone who was not following precautions. We did let the desk person know and initially got no response. The desk person in the morning seemed more concerned and did state she would talk to the manager. The breakfast was also a disappointment. There was a piece of cheese, a bruised Macintosh type apple, a tiny sugary type yogurt and a “granola” bar in the bag. There was nothing healthy or appetizing. I can’t imagine anyone actually eating this stuff.
There is a parking fee of $6 per day

This Residence Inn appears to be an older facility with 2 queen beds in our 2 bedroom suite verses the standard kings. There is a $6 nighty parking fee which was strange as the parking lot was empty. The staff, as with all Residence Inns, makes up for any negatives with positive and friendly employees.

Overall, I would sum up the hotel as blah..old hotel..needs deep clean..place to stay when needed. Checkin with chatty front desk agent was functional. Preassigned room near a elevator and generator (odd room 01-09) did not match request for a quiet area.

Rooms were average, cleaned by room attendant but room was old and needed deep clean. They need a bottle of 409 to wipe the dirty black closet and hallway doors.(wipe down the filthy lobby bathroom entry doors).

Breakfast was good. Nice selection of hot and cold items. To go boxes were available. No need for $7 parking charge.

Surrisingly, employees were wearing masks (good when needed).

. We were assigned room 104. There is a dumpster sized A/C compressor right outside the window. .Despite assurances it would not run all night, by 11:30 pm, I went to talk to the front desk. The employee on duty told me that he gets complaints all the time from sleepless guests, specifically in that room, but often in other rooms because of an extremely loud HVAC system that also will shake the entire building during the summer months. He showed me another room, a studio, not a one bedroom like I had, but that room was also very noisy.
I would like to give this employee credit because when I asked him to see about transferring us to the Courtyard that shares the parking lot (I expected no issues since we are Titanium Elite) he was very receptive and arranged a transfer immediately. So, at midnight, we were packed and walking across the parking lot to a nice room where we could get some sleep.

Our room was comfortable in all ways and breakfast was very tasty and fulfilled our expectations. What really enhanced our stay however was the service that Liz at the front desk provided for us. We stayed two nights and she helped us find two nice places for dinner as well as helping us fine tune the way we would go about visiting prominent local attractions. In addition, she helped us solidify our plans for when we left the hotel and were heading to our next destination. Liz truly did an exceptional job helping us during our stay.

The hotel was perfect for our stay. We did some biking in Fruita, before heading to St. George. The kitchen allowed us to cook a dinner there and eat it with our feet kicked up on the coffee table. Although the breakfast is just a sack breakfast now (Oh, how I miss their breakfasts!), they did the best they could with what they could do.

We would stay here again.

A good nights sleep is my number one priority when staying at a hotel What is required for my good nights sleep? Quiet room, comfortable room temp, comfortable bed, clean space. The bed was adequate, room was clean but I could hear every move and footstep of the guest in room above and the thermostat was inoperable, resulting in a room temp that was extremely uncomfortable, resulting in very little sleep. A slumber in my car would have rendered me much more rested for the remainder of my drive the next day. They’re recent renovation may provide a cosmetic improvement, but had little bearing on my fundamental level.

Stayed here based on recommendation from hotel tonight while traveling with my daughter and grandkids. Reserved a room for 4, non-smoking, first floor. When I got there at 11 PM, the desk clerk was perturbed - and outright annoyed that I used hotel tonight to book the room. Tried to put me in a smoking room - hell no. So, he puts us in a 2nd floor room furthest from stairs and elevators, with only 1 Q bed. There was a pull out sofa that was a joke and had NO linens. No room service, no restaurant, no nothing for the two little kids. Furthest thing from a Marriott that I've ever experienced.
