We were traveling through Grand Junction and had made a reservation to stay here. The front desk clerk was helpful and switched me to a room on the first floor upon my request when checking in. Whenever I needed anything, the staff was very helpful. There are two washers and four dryers for free use.
The queen room seemed small to me for an extended stay hotel. There is a full sized refrigerator and burners to cook on. When I went to look for a plate, all the dishes were loaded in the dishwasher. This may be a safety precaution as housekeeping may run the dishwasher after each guest checks out. The chairs were worn and stained and there was a nightstand only on one side of the bed (very inconvenient) and no plug on the side with no nightstand.
Overall, our stay wasn’t bad. The hotel is near restaurants and stores so the location is good. We would stay here again if ever in the area.

We have been traveling, staying in motels, for two weeks. I always request a handicap room because I have mobility issues. Our room here was by far the best we stayed in on our trip. Especially appreciated the walk-in shower. Room would accommodate a wheelchair easily. Nice suite with a functional kitchen.

We stayed in this hotel for one night in between visiting the Colorado National Monument which it overlooks and Telluride. The location was very convenient just off I-70 and you can see the mesas of the national park in the distance

The Good: The room was very well appointed with granite countertops and a full kitchen with hard wood floors. The beds were very comfortable and the hotel was surprisingly quiet considering how many rednecks and dogs were staying here. They have three washing machines and four dryers which were free. Either bring your own liquid detergent or you can buy 3 packs for $4 at the little store inside the hotel

The Bad: No ice machines - seriously? The nice girl at the front desk told me to put down the bar on the ice machine in the refrigerator in my room. She did give me two small cups of ice for drinks while we were waiting for the ice maker to work. Toiletries consisted of two bars of soap and one bottle of Pantene conditioning shampoo. No pool either - in Grand Junction which was 98 degrees the day we were there. Wow, just wow!

The Ugly: Rednecks and transient types everywhere. One lady had been there for six weeks! One drunk redneck asked the front desk girl for barbecue tools so they must have a grill. Another redneck stopped my washing machine cycle after dropping the f bomb when he discovered his laundry had been removed from the washer when he didn't come back to retrieve it. Housekeeping is only once a week. Oh yeah, did I mention opening the door to do laundry at 10:00 at night only to be stared down by both large and small black dogs? Creepy! Some woman also started to bring her dog into the business center earlier in the evening. Honestly! 😡

Bottom line is the hotel would be great without the patrons they seem to attract. Ice machines and pools are much needed though.

We just returned from a 2 night stay, I really wanted to give this hotel a good review since staying when it first opened and liking it. Rooms are very comfortable, we loved a lot of things about it. But I don't feel comfortable recommending this hotel to anyone concerned about safety precautions during the pandemic; the room was very clean, housekeeping did a good job, but what's the point when people aren't wearing masks? I get it, I don't like wearing a mask either, no one likes it. But we are catching this from breathing on each other, shouldn't you keep your mask in your pocket and throw it on when you see guests? Compliments to the one person wearing one, the young woman who checked us in, and I believe she was the same person who helped me the next night at the front desk; when she saw me approach she put her mask on and even gloves to get me what I needed, she was perfect. Other than that, none of the other folks at the front desk or housekeeping were wearing them, and we ran into staff members both getting in and out of the elevator without them. Everyone was polite and said hello, but we'd way prefer they wear a mask and not breathe on us in a small area. Unfortunately, staff sets the example and very few guests were wearing masks, we ended up avoiding the lobby or using any amenities. Maybe when the pandemic passes, this will be a safer place to stay but I would not feel comfortable recommending it to anyone with underlying health issues. And that's too bad.

The hotel appears clean at first glance, however it isn’t. The elevator stainless steel is covered in handprints and even some footprints at the 4 foot high level. It actually appears like someone was pinned face first against the elevator doors. Our room is so dirty I question if my sheets are even clean or just a lazy housekeeper remaking the bed. The toilet seat was up and urine and hairs covered the under seat. The bathroom floor has pubic hairs and other hairs. The toilet paper was toward the end of the roll and the body wash was empty after 4 pumps. The carpet in the main room was so dirty my toddlers hands were black. The surfaces on the nightstand are covered with sticky cup rings from old drinks. One plus is they have a luggage cart you can use to bring your stuff in on.

I chose this hotel for a stop over weekend stay SOLELY because of the massive website advertising of all the precautions and scientific cleaning etc in respect to COVID-19. We arrived to find the reception area with ZERO precautions for direct contact exposure. The front desk person that checked us in HAD NO MASK, handed us a pen to sign in that was just laying on the counter, obviously not sanitized, she touched our wallet etc without any thought of safe contact, or better yet no contact. I don’t trust ANYTHING they said about their safety measures and deeply regret my choosing this hotel. Kind of a bait and switch as there is no mention within the room stating measures taken or that anything was even sanitized. There are state mandates for businesses to be open and to not even have masks as direct contact to patrons is irresponsible. Thankfully we brought our own pillows and sanitizing agents or I’d have lost my mind. I’m half terrified right now and a long way from home.

Quiet hotel and friendly staff, but it wasn't clean.

We checked in late at night, and discovered pee on the toilet seat and cigarette ash on the toilet. The towels all reeked of cigarette smoke (so obviously had not been changed between guests.) The front desk person was so apologetic and offered to come clean the toilet, but declined and just took cleaning supplies to do it myself. The next day they sent up a housekeeper who did a thorough cleaning of the bathroom.

After the housekeeper finished (she offered to do the whole room, but I thought only the bathroom needed cleaning) I discovered that the pot on the stove still had food residue in it, and other pots/pans and dishes were not very clean.

My guess is that the previous guest smoked over the toilet in the hope that the bathroom fan would vent all evidence of smoking in the non-smoking room. S/he blew smoke into the towels to further help hide evidence. The housekeeper likely just put out new products (soap, shampoo) and skipped all other cleaning.

But all that said, the staff were apologetic and offered to resolve the problem quickly, the location is quiet, and if you had to stay for several days, the rooms are spacious enough that you wouldn't feel crowded.

Dear LeslieSeattle, I would like to apologize for your unsatisfactory stay. From your feedback I have to let you know that such issues are not the norm for our establishment and are totally unacceptable. And although I am proud of my staff for taking care of the issues in a satisfactory manner, I am disappointed that you had to arrive to such conditions. I have taken action with my housekeeping staff, retraining them on my expectations as well as the minimum standards of cleanliness required of all IHG brand hotels. I expect much better from my staff, as I am sure that you as a guest do as well. So with my apology please accept my sincerest thank you for pointing out a deficiency in our services and I hope that we will see you again.

At 120.00 per night plus $30 for pets, no breakfast, no ice machine, no service. Not a great deal.
There are many more hotels in the area. No one cleaned up outside after their pets nor did the staff so watch where you walk.

This was our first stay at a Candlewood Suites. The Holiday Inn Express was full and recommended this location. Everything is new so all was working and comfy. Liked their little "store." The staff was very nice and friendly too. Quiet location a little further from the highway.

We LOVED this hotel! It was brand new and beautiful. We had never stayed in a Candlewood Suites before, but we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was fabulous with everything you could imagine. It had a comfy bed, a kitchen with fridge, oven, microwave. The bathroom was nice too! The staff was friendly as well. The only downfall is that there is no pool. That was not a huge deal though.
