This motel was a pleasant surprise. It was better than most motels in this price range. It had the usual wear and tear here and there, but much less than I expected. We stayed in a handicap room with a roll in shower. The room met all ADA requirements but one. The room door was set way too strong. I’m not handicap but I am 80. I had to use my shoulder to push open the door. The bathroom had a large shower area and a few upgrades that made this an excellent bathroom.
The room: Refrigerator was quieter than average. AC looked to be fairly new and was as quiet as any. Clean room. Nicely done room. Bed comfortable. It had a sofa bed couch, that like all motels, is too low for a lot of handicap people.
Staff: All friendly, no issues here. Breakfast was keeping with a lower tier motel. In some ways better. Waffles better than I’ve had, good eggs and an auto coffee maker that makes coffee in three strengths.
We plan to come back. Overall a 4.6 experience.
However, the hotel is old and needs a good deal of maintenance. In our room there was a lamp that was completely broken (no bulb, broken mechanism, and I’m not sure it should even be plugged in), furniture that is quite scratched up, rust around the metal door frame in the bathroom, bathroom door handle that is barely hanging on - that sort of thing. The decor in the lobby & breakfast area looks like it may have been considered ornate in its time, but now it’s dated & not well kept. The woman taking care of the continental breakfast did a great job, and the workers all seemed nice.
There were areas used for storage that were odd - boxes of toilet paper in the hallway near the lobby, suitcase carts stuffed in a room that has old coolers (maybe used to be a little spot to buy snacks?), etc.
Of note — the elevator certification expired in February (we were there at the end of June!), so that is quite concerning.
The breakfast was okay, but completely inadequate seating.
On the upside, we got a room with two queen beds and there was also a pull out couch to make another bed.
The internet was a little spotty, would come in and out.
I called Josh Ruth the GM and he was rude and refused to talk to the employee who made my reservation on the phone. He told me to have a good day and if I disputed his bill he would just recharge me. Great customer skills, NOT.
I would never stay at this place.
Those were the positive points.
The breakfast is more for emergencies. The juice is warm, the bananas are brown.
Room service is offered on request, but is not done. We asked for it at reception for the next day two days in a row, but to no avail.
The rubbish in the room was piling up.
The staff don't say hello. At reception, they don't even look up when someone walks past.
