The number one reason we picked this motel was there is a short river walk between the motel and the Colorado river.
This motel was a pleasant surprise. It was better than most motels in this price range. It had the usual wear and tear here and there, but much less than I expected. We stayed in a handicap room with a roll in shower. The room met all ADA requirements but one. The room door was set way too strong. I’m not handicap but I am 80. I had to use my shoulder to push open the door. The bathroom had a large shower area and a few upgrades that made this an excellent bathroom.
The room: Refrigerator was quieter than average. AC looked to be fairly new and was as quiet as any. Clean room. Nicely done room. Bed comfortable. It had a sofa bed couch, that like all motels, is too low for a lot of handicap people.
Staff: All friendly, no issues here. Breakfast was keeping with a lower tier motel. In some ways better. Waffles better than I’ve had, good eggs and an auto coffee maker that makes coffee in three strengths.
We plan to come back. Overall a 4.6 experience.

This was probably a great hotel in its day. They do offer free breakfast, and it is steps away from the river, which was a great place to walk. Location is good - it’s Glenwood after all!
However, the hotel is old and needs a good deal of maintenance. In our room there was a lamp that was completely broken (no bulb, broken mechanism, and I’m not sure it should even be plugged in), furniture that is quite scratched up, rust around the metal door frame in the bathroom, bathroom door handle that is barely hanging on - that sort of thing. The decor in the lobby & breakfast area looks like it may have been considered ornate in its time, but now it’s dated & not well kept. The woman taking care of the continental breakfast did a great job, and the workers all seemed nice.
There were areas used for storage that were odd - boxes of toilet paper in the hallway near the lobby, suitcase carts stuffed in a room that has old coolers (maybe used to be a little spot to buy snacks?), etc.
Of note — the elevator certification expired in February (we were there at the end of June!), so that is quite concerning.

I stayed at the Quality Inn and Suites by the River for a one night getaway right before Thanksgiving. We stayed here in 2021 and it is much improved. You can now have breakfast downstairs and the elevator is working . Here are things I like about the hotel: There is a pool that is warm enough to swim in and a hot tub thst was nice and toasty. There are 113 TV channels which includes HBO, two of the Hallmark Channels, Nickelodeon, and PBS Create. The rooms are large and include a suite area with a couch and table. There was a goid variety of foods dyring breakfast including three different muffins and fruits including oranges, apples, and bananas. The only thing that mom didn’t like was that the shower handle was loose which made it hard to control the water temperature. Overall, the hotel is a good quality for the price. I give it 4.5 stars!

This hotel has hostile guest service policies. We made reservations online to stay at this hotel and later needed to cancel due to a change in our travel plans. My wife called to cancel the reservation a week before our arrival date and was told that no reservation could be found under our name. Thinking that was unusual, she later tried to call a second time and was again told that no reservation could be found. We also never received a confirmation email. The morning after our original reservation, our credit card was charged for a one-night stay. We called the hotel to explain the circumstances that we had attempted to cancel but that no reservation could be located. How are we supposed to cancel when the hotel says they can't find the reservation? The hotel bluntly refused to remove the charge and treated my wife very discourteously in the process. We will now have to dispute the charge through our credit card company, and the hotel indicated they will also fight us on that. We strongly discourage you from booking with this hotel because they put their own interests ahead of guests if any issue arises.

It looks good on the surface, the halls and lobby are nice and the rooms look clean and good. The biggest issue is the noise. The room across the hall was nonstop slamming the door and talking loud in the hallway. You could also hear the water running (very loud) when nearby rooms were using their shower. Our entire room smelled like popcorn - we assumed a nearby room was making it in their microwave and it came through the the vents.
The breakfast was okay, but completely inadequate seating.
On the upside, we got a room with two queen beds and there was also a pull out couch to make another bed.
The internet was a little spotty, would come in and out.

The hotel was well furnished and clean. The reception desk personnel were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Our room was comfortable and clean. All the staff with whom we had contact were very friendly, with the exception of one. The young woman that was running the breakfast room was not doing the job very well. We came for breakfast 30 minutes before closing and there was no yogurt, there were about 5-6 slices of bread in the case and nothing else, there was an empty milk container sitting in a puddle of spilled milk, no eggs, no meat, the counters were all very messy and nobody attending to the problems. After waiting a few minutes, I stuck my head through the door to the kitchen area and saw the woman standing back in the room, doing something that had nothing to do with preparing food to restock the empty cases ( it seemed as if she were texting, but not sure ). I asked about milk and she said nothing, acted as if I had irritated her for asking at all, but proceeded to refill the milk container. She then did some limited restocking of the food. Unfortunately, she is only reason my evaluation was not a 5 star.

We booked 5 nights for our family at this hotel. We had to book 1 room and then they had to move to another room. We never received a confirmation, I did call on the same day to cancel as we found lodging closer to our home. I asked for a cancellation email. I only got the cancellation for the first night. The other 4 nights were considered a no show and we were billed $167.00.

I called Josh Ruth the GM and he was rude and refused to talk to the employee who made my reservation on the phone. He told me to have a good day and if I disputed his bill he would just recharge me. Great customer skills, NOT.

I would never stay at this place.

The hotel is clean and has a nice location on the river. The pool and balcony on the river are really nice.
Those were the positive points.
The breakfast is more for emergencies. The juice is warm, the bananas are brown.
Room service is offered on request, but is not done. We asked for it at reception for the next day two days in a row, but to no avail.
The rubbish in the room was piling up.
The staff don't say hello. At reception, they don't even look up when someone walks past.

Located right on the Colorado River, a short drive from historic downtown area. Beds comfy, pillows very soft, nice large room with 2 queen sized beds. Breakfast was good standard in a clean and average sized dining area. Only reason I gave an average rating was due to one member of reception staff who lacked personality, warmth or the ability to communicate effectively with guests, perhaps needs a carer change?? I would recommend staying here, it's also next door to Defiance Rafting - excellent rafting outfitters.

I wanted to give a 3.5 star review but This hotel seems to be improving since last here. Still a little outdated but I gave it 4 stars for customer service, clean rooms, and location on the river is great. The pool area and hot tub back in commission and all was working well when we were here. The grill on outdoor deck pool area was great! We went to city market for steaks and chicken and had a bbq on the river deck. The lighting in this hotel still very dim in hallways and rooms. The elevator is small but works great. Continental breakfast area light and bright with basic staples. It does have waffle maker, eggs and sausage. Enjoyed third floor, odd rooms have river view. Walk to Dairy Queen on the river walk. And if you cross over the road at the roundabout you can go watch the kayakers and boarders in the whitewater surf area under bridge. Easy access to west Glenwood restaurants and still only 6 min drive to springs. Easy to get on I70 and 40 minutes to Rifle Falls state park.
