Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
The Glenwood Hot Springs Resort garners mixed reviews, with guests commending the cleanliness and the friendly service, which includes a praised breakfast offering. Access to the hot springs and pool variety is a highlight, although some guests feel other amenities fall short.
Opinions on the hotel's ambiance are split, with the charm noted by some overshadowed by criticisms of a dated feel. Reviewers frequently call out the rooms, which are often described as in need of a refresh and lacking modern amenities like WiFi, leading to the perception that the resort does not offer good value for its price point.

Detailed Reviews
Firstly this is NOT a resort. It is a pretty basic hotel and the lodge is very dated and the rooms are very average and dark and in need of some updating. The young man at reception during the evening was extremely friendly and went out of his way to be accommodating. Most rooms have a small patio with lovely mountain views and the beds and pillows were comfortable. There was a shabby chair in the room which was frayed around edges and didn't look overly clean. There is a fridge and coffee maker which is nice. The hot springs are about a five minute walk down the road from the lodge. It is a shame that the lodge could not have an entrance just in front of the hotel as there is an exit gate there and it would be easy to access people through there with some type of card system. Admission is included in room price and a full breakfast at the pool grill each day. The breakfast was a fully cooked breakfast and there were also continental breakfast options. The springs are great and the new addition of various different tubs is lovely. The kids slides and chutes are also lovely. Puts it in competition with Iron Mountain Hot springs and much better for the kids. I was concerned by the lack of life guards at the springs but it was early season, mid week and I hope that it picks up during the summer season. Overall when you factor the price of entrance to the hot springs for two days the room costs are not excessive but the pictures and website are somewhat deceptive as its not a lodge! Its a basic hotel close to some wonderful hot springs.

Pros: the lodge is close to the hot springs, admission is included with the hotel stay, and it's an easy walk to the pool area. Onsite parking is included and we were able to leave our car in the lot after check out the next day so we could walk around downtown Glenwood Springs. Our room was a suite with two queen beds and a little walk-out patio which had a drying rack for swimsuits. On arrival, front desk staff gave us a map of the property and explained all the different options at the hot springs. Breakfast is included and we were told to get a very early slot in order to reserve chairs at the pool the next morning (we ended up not doing this and it didn't matter).
Cons: This place needs some serious remodeling. Our suite was not worth the extra cost - it was outdated and dark. In the bathroom, there was black mold growing in the shower, the shower curtain was gross, and the towel bar was broken off the wall with the bar piece on the floor sticking out from under the sink. (How did housekeeping not notice this??) I informed the front staff about it but it was not fixed during our stay. The carpet felt like it had not been vacuumed, beds were only so-so, and none of us slept very well. We ended up skipping the included breakfast and ate at a wonderful little local bakery a 4 minute walk away. We were very glad to leave the hotel and will stay elsewhere next time.
The hot springs themselves are pretty nice and an interesting experience. The variety of pools and water temperatures was enjoyable, and the water slide was fun.

This is an old and historic hotel. It is in much need of updating which is happening now. Unfortunately this means that some of the rooms are very shabby and furniture very worn. During our stay there was constant noise form the renovation - drilling hammering etc. We were given a discount after complaining but should have been advised of this work which would probably have led us elsewhere.
Having said that the ability to access the hot spring baths was great and very convenient. I feel sure the resort will be much better after the renovation next summer (2025).
Breakfast in the hot springs cafe was not great.
Staff at the hotel very friendly and helpful

The hotel was very nice and met and exceeded our expectations. We had a large family room that had two pillow top queen beds and a pull out sofa. The beds were comfortable the bathroom had two sinks outside of the bathroom and then a smaller sink in the actual bathroom. The breakfast was good with lots of selection. The pools were absolutely wonderful. We have gone there for years and were really surprised with the assorted pools. It was most relaxing and a difficult stressful year just melted from our minds
The only negative was not being provided with bath robes for our trips back and forth to the pools. I asked for one when I returned from the pool that night and was told that we needed a wellness package to receive them. After spending over 600.00 for one night I thought that was cheap on the hotels side. I guess when you think of a resort that a robe would be included to go back and forth from the pool. Otherwise we had a lovely time.

After reading the reviews I knew we’d need robes for our October visit. I called the hotel to check how much it costs to rent a robe, before I bought some of our own to bring. The woman I spoke to told me they don’t rent robes, they’re free to use, and she’ll put a note on our reservation to have 4 robes waiting for us. Asked what sizes for our teenage kids, and left it at that. We arrived our first night and there were no robes in the room. I called down to the front desk and explained that I had asked for robes but they’re not there, and asked if I can come down and grab some. The lady at the front desk told me that because of the package we chose (the adventure package) that robes are not provided with our stay. I explained the situation and that I would have brought our own, but because someone at the hotel told me I didn’t need to, I didn’t. She refused to acknowledge that this was the hotel’s mistake, and refused to offer any other suggestion or help in anyway. Even failed to mention, which I saw later, that robes are available for purchase at the gift shop attached to the pool. When I asked to speak to a manager, there was not one available until the next morning.
Very frustrating when I try to prepare as well as I can, but cannot rely on the staff to provide me with the correct info. The lady at the desk also told me that “they tell all their guests” to bring robes. This was not once communicated to me, it was from the trip advisor reviews that I learned that you’ll want a robe to make the 2 block cold walk to the pool more comfortable.
That put a bad taste in my mouth from the get go, but otherwise the stay was alright. Overpriced for what it is. Have to pay extra to use the gym. Long walk to the pool, long walk to breakfast. Wouldn’t be bad in summer but fall and winter that walk is cold.

My wife and I had a wonderful at the Glenwood Hot Springs Resort. Although we only stayed one night, we did get to enjoy 2 days at the hot springs pool. Our room was nicely appointed, the bed was very comfortable, and the whole hotel felt like it was recently renovated. Even though it's not a "luxury" hotel, it was still enjoyable. The staff were excellent, helping us with storing our luggage (because of late Amtrak), and even offered to get us a free shuttle to train station. The included breakfast at the hot springs pool offered both a couple of hot options as well as a decent buffet. We loved the hot springs and considering we got 2 days there for a 1 night stay, this added additional value to what we paid.

Having been to Glenwood Springs many times when I was younger, I had to take my family here to experience it! It's changed a lot since then.
The main pool is the same as it's always been! There was plenty of room for everyone, and the temperature sat at around 95 F. Our kids loved swimming in the warm water, and my husband showed off his diving skills at the deep end! The splash pad and therapy pool/slides are new since the last time I visited, and the kids LOVED it! The therapy pool water was much warmer (about 104 F), and our toddler spent most of the day going down the slides.
This is a great way to spend a day! I do recommend bringing your own towels and bath robes, as this place charges resort prices for rentals.

I really thought this hotel was going to provide the most bang for our dollar BUT we didn’t love it. At $360 q night it was pricey but the fact that the hot springs was included had me convinced that I was going to save money in the end.
The good…
The employees are very professional and kind. I was concerned about the hotel feeling old after reading reviews but the room was very comfortable actually bigger than I expected. The older details made it quite charming.
Breakfast was impressive! We were not expecting it to be so good.
The bad….. the “hot springs” is referred to as a pool… I knew it was going to be a pool but it looked nothing like the advertisement for a relaxing experience. We went the evening we arrived and we about froze to death walking from the hotel to the hot springs. It was dark and cold and we were hier just hoping to hop in the hot water but…. There was not a spot to sit in… it felt completely uncomfortable with couples sitting on each other inappropriately, (this is a family place) or at least that’s what we thought. The water was dirty, pant peeling off the bottom oh the pool. We tried to find a spot but just ended up l leaving. It did not feel clean at all. It’s definitely just two giant dirty pools of hot water and still me slides. Not relaxing at all.
We actually checked out of the hotel early and used the savings to go to the other hot springs, the whole reason for spending twice as much for this hotel was for the unlimited access to the hot springs but I it’s a hot pool. If you go sight unseen you might be disappointed like we were. The hotel did. habe a nice high end feel to it… the hot springs just felt like it didn’t have the same high end feeling.

We vacation for 6 weeks each summer in Vail in order to escape the Dallas heat. We wanted a quick trip to Glenwood Springs to check out the quaint town and natural springs. This hotel was the perfect choice. Don't be diverted by the underwhelming lobby and the "bothersome" table in front of the front desk check-in. (Sadly a remanent of the Covid era) The management and staff (particularly Natalie) could not have been more accommodating. She shared the map of the resort, paths to the pools and to the downtown area. A true five star employee. The hotel has undergone a renovation and the rooms while small were very comfortable. The linens on the bed were crisp and white, the mattress and pillows comfy and the bath had all we needed (including hooks to hang our wet bathing suits on). We took the bridge across to the downtown and then hung out at the pools for several hours. Worth the experience and this hotel/resort was the perfect location for all of it.

Me and my partner recently stayed here and have stayed here many times before, after the last visit we will not be returning. For starters the day before we arrived we were called to be told the therapy pool was closed but it had been moved, ok no problem. What we weren't told is that the therapy pool is now city water and not spring water, why did we come to hotsprings to sit in a big chlorinated hot tub? What a ripoff.
Then there was breakfast. We have stayed several times and never had any issues at breakfast. We go down to breakfast and are immediately asked if we had a reservation, well no we weren't informed we needed one. So they told us the best they could do for us is to do grab and go and we can eat in the pool lobby. Umm ok for your free breakfast for lodge guests, crappy. The people in the lobby were sitting on the floor eating that's quite some service for rooms that over $300/night. While we were eating our grab and go breakfast other people came up without reservations but they were offered the choice to wait 10 minutes for a table. So why are some people offered to wait and me and my partner were told the best they could do is grab and go? Sounds like some sort of discrimination.
And then the locker rooms. GROSS. They have way too many people packed in to tiny locker rooms where the heat doesn't even work. And the Lodge's response to others is that they feel our pain. I'm sorry that's not good enough, you had enough locker area before you started renovating you should have made sure there was enough during renovations. There were better ways to phase this then cramming everyone into very small, dirty locker rooms. Customers are paying more money for less, that's not ok.
We will not be going back. This felt like a total rip off.

Thanks for your question. No. The rooms were all updated at the same time. The main difference is that Premium Rooms are larger and have more amenities.
Yes we do have rollaway beds available upon request.
You can purchase beer / win at The Grill. However, it cannot be taking to the Pool area. We do not have a bar at The Lodge.
They provide tiny little towels. So if you want to truly cover up, bring your own!
