We went with another couple for 2 nights on Sept 9 2011 because they were offering a 2 night package which included 2 night lodging, 2 pool passes and 2 dinners for $169.00. WE had a nice time. Here is a breakdown.

Motel: We thought we made a huge mistake when we dove into the parking lot. We checked the room ffirst before we checked in because it looked so run down and dirty from the outside. The room is dated but clean. The bathroom was updated. We did not run the AC. There is table with 2 chairs, refrigerator and microwave, phone and TV.

Amenties: Great for such a little motel.
Cookies in afternoon
Sweet Tea all day long
Breakfast: Bisquits and gravey, danish, bagel, OJ, coffee
Bathroom: Toothpaste, ladies face cream, an ample size tube of body lotion, men's hair gel, hairdryer
Backyard: BBQ Grill, table and chairs, swing, Hot Tub
Microwave and refrigerator,

Staff: Very nice and customer oriented! Always smiling. 24 hour front desk service. They could not do enough for you., We ran out of towels and kleenix, We got them right away.
Gave us helpful information about where to eat and play. Great staff! I felt very welcome.

Housekeeping: the only negative is that we did not get housekeeping service until 4:00 pm. We said no to the service because we just got back from the hot springs and were in the process of taking a shower. Our friends across the hall did get their service early in the am.

Don't judge a book by its cover, it is old but very nice!

We took a quick weekend trip to the hot springs and stayed at the affordable inn because of the location, and because it was affordable. we had two identical rooms 203 and 204. They were non smoking, they do offer smoking rooms which is unusual now a days. Both rooms were clean and updated with new Tvs, Fridge and microwave. Two queen size beds and no floral bedspreads (plus). The weird thing about these rooms was that there were no closets. Other rooms may have closets but these did not. This is ok for short stays but if you are staying longer may be inconvenient. You can take the 114 exit off of 70 which is also a good thing with all the construction around the first exit 116 with the bridge. This is not a luxury hotel, the amenities are limited, Breakfast is spartan with pastries, biscuits and gravy, coffee and juices. The rooms can be a little noisy, but overall it is more than worth the price. I would stay again with no hesitation.

We have been here three years in a row. Its a nice place, quiet, off the beaten path or away from the city of Glenwood Springs. You can take the second exit if you are headed west. We get the package so its been super nice. We get there and relax the first day, go to the hotsprings pool the entire second day, use our dinner tickets for that evening then head home the following day. Dinner at the Riviera is wonderful. You don't have to get prime rib, any entree is allowed. Its a classy restaurant, good wine, great food. The Lemoncello dessert was so great. Its a great deal. The hotel has plenty of parking. Hot bisquits and gravy and some friuty hot pastry so not just donuts for breakfast. totally worth it.

The front desk service was the worst I have ever experienced. The woman at the front desk was beyond rude and had the worst attitude of any person I have ever come in contact with in a Hotel. I was absolutely appalled that a Hotel would ever hire a person like this for a job in the Hospitality Industry where customer service is their job. You can not say the things she did in such a rude tone in the hotel industry, especially when the customer is being reasonable.

I was only trying to get information on an item I left behind from the previous day when I stayed here, and I was met with such rudeness I was almost speechless. This all happened at around 3pm on July 10th 2023. I will not return and can not recommend.

The rooms were okay considering it was a cheaper hotel, but the bathrooms were dated and you can tell it was an older hotel in the area. You get what you pay for. Wifi wasn't fast in our room but we didn't really need it and cell service was good enough. There were donuts and coffee for breakfast each day. It met the bare minimum needs of what I needed out of a bed and breakfast, which is fine to save some money, but in the future I would pay for a more expensive hotel to get better front desk service. The experience with the front desk attendant truly ruined my reflection on my stay. The next time I come to visit family I will be sure to steer friends clear of this location.

Musty, smeey, smokey rooms, shower was a drbble and turned burning hot and cold. Bar soap was the size of my pinky and the pillows are the size of small throw pillow...hard too. They are pet friendly though. All this for $200 a night. We will not go back.

The stay was ok! It was economical for when you just need a place to rest after a day of fun adventures. The towels had hairs and just felt dirty. Sadly not the best experience, great view but definitely dissatisfied. When I looked at their website it said they had breakfast which is what I was looking for, one less meal to worry about. We asked the clerk the night before what time breakfast was ready and he said they didn’t serve breakfast, that they only served coffee. The next morning after 7:30 am there was NO coffee ready, I asked the clerk if there was coffee and he said he was too busy to make more and he would make some more. I went back to my room to get ready. Came back out (20 minutes later) and no sign of the clerk and no sign of coffee being made.

If I could rate this one star I would.. We arrived on Friday to TERRIBLE front desk customer service. She was rude and had an attitude that no one in the hospitality industry should possess. The rooms were okay but we’re old and could use some update it. There were bugs in our room which was a HUGE downfall of this place. With the combination of awful customer services and bugs in the room- spend the extra money and stay somewhere else in town!

When we arrived the night desk lady was out side with a bunch of people. after checking in the people who she was with left bottles of alcohol in the lobby. when I took a shower i grabed a towl that was just brought in that morning and open it up to have bugs in my face. there were about 3 bugs when i opened the towl that was nasty. I left a review on the sheet in the room and the lady that was working the desk threw it in the trash. (she didnt know i saw her do it). to top it off the desk lady didnt have a mask on the whole time we were there same with the people she was with

Icky! The pictures online are deceiving. Thankfully the maid was great and made the run down room clean and decent enough to stay in for a night which was the only redeeming quality. Many other options in this area, skip this one and go to the next.

I purchased a package for hotel for 2 nights, 2 pool passes and 2 passes to the cavern adventures for $244.30 which is what my card was ran for. When we arrived we got in about 2:45 and checked in. we went into the room and i could tell it was older because it had a bad smoke smell and there was rust all over the bathroom fixtures. I figured we were not going to spend much time other than sleeping. We changed into our swimming attire and headed to the pool. It was myself my husband and our 4 kids. When we got back in later that evening I pulled the blankets back to lay my infant on the bed to change her and i noticed blood all over the sheets and blanket as well as what appeared to be a shoe dirt mark on the pillow case. I was disgusted and upset so I went to the front counter with the blankets and pillow in hand. I showed her and asked to speak to a manager. She advised me that there would be no manager until Monday morning which is when we were to check out. I told her I was creeped out as now i am worried about bugs and other filth. The lady at the front reassured me they have NEVER had bugs nor do they have them now and she was sorry about the blood and she would move us rooms after she seen the floors were not even vacuumed. she informed me that they have been having issues with their cleaning crew. She offered to move us rooms so we moved from 105 to 104. well my husband was in the process of moving all of our stuff I went in the room to inspect the room. it look vacuumed and in cleaner appearance. I then pull the sheets back to find bed bugs along with dead ones I smashed one on the pillow and well moving another pillow I noticed bed bug feces. Also on a pillow was some yellowish dried what appeared to food speared on the pillow. I took pictures with my phone of all of this filth. I immediately told my kids to go to the car. Keep in mind it is now almost 11pm. I went back up to front to find her lighting a cigarette in the hallway which is why the hotel probably stinks I told her she lied there is more filth and here are bed bugs and bed bugs are not easy to get rid of nor would I want to take them home with me or have myself or most importantly my kids bit. The look on her face was priceless and all of a sudden she was able to call an onsite manager who was a gentleman in his late 50's who originally checked me in. he came up and I expressed how mad I was and I asked do you have bed bugs his reply was " we have not had bed bugs the last 2 years". I said well that is as lie he said no we sprayed. I then proceeded to tell him that spraying will not kill bed bugs you have to heat the entire place and I showed him the bug along with the feces and pictures on my phone and even brought him the rest of the dirty stuff. he seemed upset and raised his voice and said "well what do you want me to do"? I said I want all my money back and I am leaving this filthy place. he said fine bring me the keys and all your passes I gave you. I told him I already used the 2 pool passes and I feel like I should not have to give the passes back and pay extra to get passes else where as this is a huge inconvenience. he told me no. I got him his 2 cavern passes and he charged me for the 2 pool passes and credited my card for $209 for the room and I left. Now my family and I are in a area we are not familiar with at 11pm trying to find a hotel that does not cost an arm and a leg as we now have to pay extra for passes and the money on my card would not post back until that Monday give it was a Saturday. That place needs to be shut down and I feel I should be reimbursed the difference that I had to pay for a new hotel plus the cavern and pool passes. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

Response from kathy h, Manager at The Trailhead Hotel
Responded 19 Jan 2015
Dear Valerie T. Thank you for being our guest. I understand there were some issues with your stay. We pride ourselves on superior cleanliness & customer service, and I am truly disappointed that you did not enjoy your experience. I apologize for the issue with your pillow case, and appreciate you bringing it to our attention. We plan our packages that include your lodging plus passes to local area attractions such as the pool and adventure caves with affordability for families in mind. They are an exceptional value, especially for a party of 6. More disheartening than the issue with the pillowcase, is the way the problem was handled when it was brought to our attention. I assure you, I will speak to our front desk staff individually to ensure these types of mistakes are not repeated. Again Valerie, I appreciate your feedback, it reminds us that for everything we do well, we always have room for improvement, and hearing the voice of our guest is our most valuable asset in earning your business back. Kindest regards, Kathy
