We recently stayed here for one night during a two-week-long road trip from our home in southeastern PA out to visit Utah’s national parks. As Hilton Honors Diamond members, we are very familiar with Hamptons and have come to rely upon the amenities and features of the brand. This particular hotel certainly met our expectations and served our needs well. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a bit more space and furniture than most Hampton Inns. Our beds were very comfortable, the linens were nice, and our bathroom was well stocked with towels and toiletries (pump bottles mounted on the wall). (We do miss having a towel bar at the sink to hang up our hand towels—a common oversight at Hamptons.) The bathtub had a very nice showerhead, but the safety grab bar was mounted in the wrong location in the tub to be of any use. Also, the sliding bathroom door was extremely difficult to move. We were pleased with the hotel’s complimentary breakfast, which offered the usual options nicely prepared and presented. All in all, we enjoyed our one-night stay here, especially because the hotel’s setting is beautiful, and the drive there through Glenwood Canyon was really special.

After reading some of the recent reviews of this hotel I was a bit leery about booking here so I took a chance. The room was very clean and spacious. The front desk clerk was very kind and allowed us to check in an hour early since our room was ready. The breakfast hostess kept the breakfast area open for an additional 30 minutes to allow some guests who were late (like us) to get breakfast. She was very friendly about it and didn't complain. I've stayed at several HH hotels and the breakfast is shut down tight RIGHT at closing time. Would highly recommend and would stay there again.

First off the bathroom tile on room 112 is not attached properly and has huge gaps on the corner wall by the bathroom. It looks like maintenance personnel tried to fix it but did a really poor job. I almost cut my foot on it when I wasn't paying attention.

Second my wife left her meds behind and once we noticed I called the front desk around 6pm on a Sunday and the person on the phone told me there was nothing they could do and I had to contact usps. On Monday the usps told me that's not a service they provide. I called and talked to the MANAGER and he informed me the same thing and said to call UPS. They told me the hotel need to fill out a slip with my I fo and payment and they will pick up my belongings. The MANAGER was unwilling to help and refused to do anything. UPS called the hotel to tell them how it works and after UPS told them they will no longer do any business with the hotel then the MANAGER decided to be polite but still never contacted me. I have already filed a claim with hilton worldwide the parent company to hampton inn and corporate has been notified as everyone i talked to was not happy with the manager and unwillingness to help. So beware staff is rude under trained and not helpfull

Response from General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hampton Inn Glenwood Springs
Responded 20 Nov 2024
Hello, I’m the GM and we haven’t spoke. I was on vacation and then had to attend a conference a week after I came home. I’m sorry the ball was dropped here. UPS has provided that service for us. Apparently they wanted us to do a form and fill it out. I’m not sure why they couldn’t bring it when they picked up the item, but we should’ve figured it out with UPS, so it didn’t become so stressful to you. You have my sincere apology on that and I’ll review proper procedure going forward with the Front Office.

This location must share some privileges with the Holiday Inn in the same parking lot. We were told by Holiday Inn that we could use the Hampton Inn indoor pool. Upon arriving, we noted the pool water was very green - algae? We appreciated the opportunity to use the Hampton Inn amenities but for a property owned by Hilton, the pool water shouldn't be green from algae!

I would not recommend this place, if it meant having to sleep in my car. We arrived to check in and guess what no one was there. There was a note on the desk, had to step away and call them on the phone that was on the wall. Well I did that for over 20 minutes. When the guy finally walked in from outside with the women friend, it took him another 15 minutes to figure out how to get me the card for my room and he couldn't figure out how to get more than 1 card. When we got to the room, the key didn't work and that happened 2x. A guy was in the lobby to get a soda and bag of chips, they wanted to charge him 8.00 and when the guy went to use his debit card the worker told him the card reader was broken so he would have to pay cash. That didn't happen. Then when we went to the front desk for the 2nd time for the key, naturally the worker wasn't there AGAIN, and once again we did the phone thing that no one answered to, another couple walked in and said that it was their 2nd time trying to check in., no one was there and/or answered the phone when they tried as well. When we finally got in the room, there was dirty covers on the bed, there was a leak by the toilet. Do yourself a favor, find another hotel.

I always stay at Hilton. I used to travel 60% of my time for work so I’ve stayed at a lot of Hilton’s. Lately, traveling with my family I find I’m more and more disappointed each time. Customer service has really gone down the drain. At this particular location, the room and hallways smell, wish hotels could air these places out sometimes. It was too warm in our room most of the night since the AC wasn’t great, finally turned it down to 60 degrees so one side of the room was an ice box but at least the rest of the room cooled also. Found a hair in my oatmeal so I lost my appetite after that. At least the oatmeal was real rolled oats and not the quick oats. The cranberry and apple juice were likely watered down since neither resembled the taste of apple or cranberry. As always, the beds are comfortable.

While the rooms were perfect, our overall stay was disappointing due to our experience at the breakfast bar. We arrived for breakfast around 8:45-9 AM, and to our dismay, there were already limited vegetarian options available, and both waffle makers were out of service. We had hoped to enjoy some bakery items, but they were completely depleted. Surprisingly, there was still more than an hour left for breakfast service.

When we kindly asked the lady responsible for maintaining the breakfast area to replenish the bakery items, her response was shockingly rude. She bluntly told us that they had run out and suggested we eat something else. Frustrated with this unprofessional attitude, I had to escalate the issue to the reception desk. They eventually brought out the bakery items 30 minutes later, but unfortunately, they were overcooked.

Furthermore, not only were the bakery items unavailable, but even basics like milk and other essentials ran out, and we had to make repeated requests for refills. It's puzzling why items that were still available in the kitchen were not promptly restocked, especially with more than an hour remaining for breakfast service.

In summary, the breakfast area clearly deserves a better server who can ensure a more pleasant and accommodating experience for guests.

Although, the Hampton has been our go-to in Glenwood Springs, this visit has been quite disappointing. The room was dirty including hair in the tub, trash on the floor, and a bed that creaked excessively just sitting on it. I think the box spring is broken. Also, the toilet simply didn't flush. The hotel needs work.

After we checked in, dropped off our bags, and went to the hot springs, we returned to find the dead bolt and thumb tab lock to the adjacent room unlocked. This left our personal items unprotected. Sadly this will probably be the last time we stay at the Hampton Inn.

The room they booked me had roaring noise from elevator next door to my room, and A/C / HEATING inoperable. they did not have another room. Their parking lot was single vehicle parking only, and I was towing a utility trailer! I slept in a rest stop for the night.

We didn't have too much trouble with the construction. It's there when you go to almost anywhere but the hot springs and the amusement park from the Hampton inn but it never stopped us from getting around. Going to find some of the eating places was a little tricky but still not bad at all.
