Hotel Colorado garners mixed reviews, with guests enchanted by its historic charm and prime location near town attractions, yet others express dissatisfaction with the dated and poorly maintained rooms. The hotel is old and it needs to be renovated but at the same time it has a nostalgic vibe . The rooms are very big but the bathrooms very small and outdated. The garden with the outside restaurant is truly nice . There is plenty of space around the hotel. It is very centrally located with the spring’s literally a 3 minute walk away,

We stayed 3 nights at Christmas and this is our 5th year to stay during the holidays. The hotel is undergoing improvements and the improvements are very nice and still maintain the old wonderful appearance. We stayed in an ambassador suite and it was very comfortable and fresh with new carpet and paint. They rearranged the sitting area and the sleeping area. The new arrangement was very nice. We noticed a few things needed, a heater for the bedroom and a fridge and microwave which had not been placed back after the new carpet. Chris, aka “steam” resolved that little problem and was so kind and a great conversation. Chris is very enthusiastic and loves the hotel and looks for things to improve for the guests.
Angel greeted us at the front desk and took care of all our needs, including chasing off some non guests that were roaming the halls and going thru the drawers of the antique furniture in our hallway. She is energetic and knows her stuff!!
My only criticism is the “room service”. We ordered breakfast and it was delivered in a “to go bag”! Not at all what I expected for room service! At the level of room that we paid for,I expected the food to be on plates and real silverware and drinking glasses not plastic cups. The clamshell boxes were good and held the flavor of the food and the food was really good, but I expected better from the kitchen. The food was literally in a bag with handles as if we were grabbing it to go! We stayed during the Covid season and fully understood why they had to do this back then, but I would hope that “real room service”would be restored by now.
This place will continue to improve as the new leaders guide the renewal of the grand old dame and we look forward to seeing its progress

I’ve stayed at the Hotel Colorado numerous times since my honeymoon in 1981. I’ve watched it ebb and flow, from being in dire need of repair and upgrades to improvements that just covered up the bigger problems.
The hotel has come to its prime once again, thriving with families with children and couples in love. The lobby was full of energy - friends playing board games, and couples sitting in front of the fireplace. And outside, fire pits in the beautiful courtyard were lit and the trees were twinkling with white lights. The fountain was flowing and the pond was filled with koi and water lilies.
The overall architecture and design of this historic hotel is so appealing and romantic, which has been the reason I’ve enjoyed staying there. The newly renovated rooms incorporate modern elements - electronic, bedding and more.
Our rooms were clean, beautifully decorated, and the beds were so comfy. The staff was so friendly and personable.

I expect 3 things from a hotel stay:
A clean room, a hot shower and an environment that allows for a good night’s sleep. The room appeared to be clean but the shower was cold every single day, regardless of timing and the room was stiflingly warm. We paid $500/night our last night and although the rate was less the other two nights, the stay was definitely not worth a fraction of the cost.
I could add detail about many other small issues that added up to a poor experience, but instead I will summarize: I wouldn’t stay here again.

The pros: ceiling fan, light bedding, water in the lobby, location, relatively quiet
The cons: cold water, hot room, bathroom configuration, service

As I was leaving, I was asked how my stay had been. When I mentioned the cold water and hot room, the response was “ Oh that’s too bad.”

Unfortunately, my recent stay at this hotel was incredibly disappointing. The lack of cleanliness in the rooms and on the stairs was evident, indicating a serious lack of maintenance. There was some vomit smell in the room next to the matress and dust all along the stairs. The mattress was uncomfortably soft, and the sheets were a blend of polyester and cotton, causing discomfort with lint balls that were noticeable. The decor appeared cheap, not matching the photos displayed online. Basic amenities like bottled water or coffee at the rooms were missing, and the placement of clean towels hanging over the toilet was unhygienic. There was no convenient place to store clean clothes in the bathroom either. Despite the high price of $500 per night, the overall experience fell far short of expectations. The only positive is that the hotel is well located and it is historic, a buch of history behind, that is interesting. On balance, considering all these factors, I suggest future guests not to waste their money on this hotel.

The hotel is certainly a beautiful historical building with a rich history. The furnishings are period (copies) and nicely done. The front desk staff was helpful and courteous. The housekeeping staff, however, could us some training on attention to detail. When we checked in, there was no soap and the deadbolt on the door did not work. I dropped by the front desk the next morning and asked if the deadbolt could be fixed and housekeeping leave soap. The deadbolt was fixed, still no soap. Another trip to the front desk and I had soap. I tipped the housekeeping staff each day and service was touch and go. No lotion or coffee service on day 3, no washcloths, either. No clean coffee cups and the light in the closet had no switch to turn off. The room didn’t have a fridge, but had a nice coffee maker. No pool at the facility, but for $47/day (yikes) you could get a pass to the hot springs down the street. Pass on the food in the restaurant, high priced and much was pre-prepared and rewarmed. The mattresses were tired.

There is no missing this imposing, historic hotel when visiting Glenwood Springs. It looks out over the river and the hot springs. The location is perfect to walk to the main town, the hot springs, and restaurants. We never had to move our car the three days we were there. (Try to find street parking to avoid the parking lot fee). The lobby is large and impressive and comfy, loaded with history. I was happy to be on the 3rd floor, for both the view and the walk up the Grand Staircase. Although the rooms are old, you feel very comfortable. I slept wonderfully, with the window opened to allow in fresh air. They even brought up a mini fridge to our room on request to keep our beverages and leftovers cold. There was plenty of towels, and I was so excited to have the beds made daily. The hotel robes were perfect for strolling over to the hot springs in. We had lunch in the hotel bar on our day of arrival, and it was very good. We also enjoyed the hotel bar for a nightcap and dessert another evening. I wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else if we came through this town again! Thanks, Hotel Colorado

Only giving one star ‘cause zero wasn’t an option.
This historic hotel is crying out for a major renovation. For the insane room rates they charge, guests deserve better than a pathetically out of date bathroom (light switch behind the door, NO vanity space or other horizontal surface to set your toothbrush on), meager water pressure in the showers, barely warm water) and noisy window air conditioners.
When you see the hotel from the outside, it gives you the expectation of grandeur. Your hopes will be dashed when you enter your room. Other reviewers talk about nasty customer service and hazardous or unsafe conditions. I didn’t stick around long enough to discover these issues.
Just stay away.

My state organization just finished our first annual conference since 2019 and Hotel Colorado helped make it such a fabulous return. We had originally planned to have this conference at this hotel a few years ago now but for obvious reasons that couldn't happen. The hotel team was so helpful in getting our whole plan moved and we very successfully put on a fantastic conference especially in the face of all of the problems we threw at them.

I want to give a very special shoutout to Danielle, Director of Rooms, who was so patient, helpful, kind, and BEYOND understanding as 100+ guests showed up with myriad problems due to state restrictions on travel and paying for stays. Some groups were prepared for their stay but most were not. You'd think that as professionals who are accustomed to being yelled at regularly, people in my industry would show some composure when they realized they had not done all of the things necessary to prepare for their reservation. Unfortunately that was not the case. Danielle worked with each of them showing them nothing but kindness, generosity, and professionalism despite some of the behavior. She went BEYOND out of her way to help resolve some of the issues, working well into the night on the phone with people who refused to cooperate. I can't say enough amazing things about how hard she worked to help everyone all while supporting her team. I'm very grateful to her.

Also a special shoutout to Sydni who was new to the job and got very quick training by being thrown into the deep end of the pool and still had a smile on her face after we threw pure chaos at her.

An important aside is that the rooms are very comfortable and clean and quirky in a really fun way that makes you feel like you're staying among history. I will absolutely be back.

The rooms need to be updated. Our room was really outdated, had dust everywhere, barely any pictures on the wall, and no full length mirror. The tub was really gross and the window air conditioner covered nearly the whole window. It was like a sad bachelor pad. Not worth the price tag.

We came for a wedding at the venue and, although the invitation, and the HC catering menu, said vegetarian by request, I asked for the meal and the staff just pointed to the buffet. They said I would be able to have beans and salad. The beans weren’t vegetarian so there wasn’t anything to east except potato salad and salad. I went to the room after the wedding hungry. I’m sure the bride and groom paid a lot for the catering and venue, the least the hotel could do was make their guests experience better.

The rooms have small window units. When we were there on Memorial Day weekend they were just putting them in. The main area I am not sure.
