Serenity Island Resort is celebrated for its diverse amenities and enchanting beachfront locale, offering snorkeling and cultural activities that captivate many travelers. Guests have called out the comfortable, clean rooms with ocean views, though some have voiced concerns over room maintenance. While the staff's warmth is often praised, service can be hit-or-miss, and the vibrant atmosphere may be too boisterous for those seeking tranquility. Reviewers warn of overpriced dining and activities, suggesting the resort's value is somewhat overshadowed by unexpected costs.

The biggest downside was the food, i highly recommend you buy your own food before going to the island, because the only food available is whats on the menu. Thats it

The food was below average and at time not eatable. There is a shop for buying junk food like noodles and biscuits but its super expensive

The breakfast which was included in price is good, they do eggs! And they provide fruit and its a buffet rather than a menu

When you book, choose ocean bure up to 17 you can swim in front of, any bures (rooms) from 18 to 33 have rocks so impossible to swim. And they do not do room swaps! The garden bure location is actually good too!

On the plus side, The people were amazing they made us feel part of the family which is why i will definitely go back!!

The free activities were really good: turtle feeding fish feeding weaving oil making cava drinking and more

The water around the island was so clean and clear that we could snorkel from anywhere, corral was very close to shore and fish everywhere

Snorkeling gear and kayaks were free including life jackets which was amazing

They have good coffee and nice cocktails

Note that you need to pay for bottled water.

Rooms were very nice and comfortable, hot water and shampoo , towels etc provided

Also a nice hammock in front of room and 2 chairs to sit

We loved our stay and will be back thank you serenity island and it’s lovely people

We looked at a wide range of Fiji island options, and decided Serenity was what we wanted. And we were right. It is at the lower priced end of the mid range island resorts (not a backpacker/party island, not exclusive adults only or international chain resort) and it is excellent value. As everyone has noted, it is beautiful and the staff are wonderful. Reviews from earlier this year noted very little sand was on the island after storms - that is no longer the case, just a few rocky patches outside the beachfront bures. Others noted a lack of snorkelling equipment, again this has been rectified. We had no issues with slow service at dinner time (and the meals were fabulous) - but lunch service was a bit average (but the food was still great.) It's Fiji time, chill and relax. Always make a reservation for dinner on the day as they seem to have fewer seats than there are guests. The Signature Fiji Massage at the spa was wonderful. The bed was super comfortable, the shower pressure low but ok. The bures are of a more than sufficient size, and how lovely (if you have a beachfront one) to wake up to palm trees, sand and waves every morning. The pool deck area could do with a paint, but the rest of the resort looked in excellent shape, and the staff do a great job in keeping the area clan and tidy, including collecting all the falling leaves and palm fronds. Over 90% of the guests were couples (or friends) so be aware this place isn't set up for children - perhaps choose a Kids Club resort elsewhere? That said, the snorkelling and pool kept most kids happy. Overall, the only disappointment was leaving - we would go back there in a heart beat and warmly recommend.

Serenity Island is a beautiful, down-to-earth place on one of the little islands that look exactly like the pictures of Fiji in travel catalogues. We were welcomed and let go with dance and music by the super friendly staff of the resort. The friendliness and warmth of the locals was most outstanding in this resort!! Everybody saw you and tried to make everything work out best.

The buildings are more on the simple side, mostly little houses facing the ocean with a terrace, a hammock, and natural beach in front (the beach is not cleaned). The water is clear and very warm (some 28C or more) so you can walk into the water without any freezing, even before breakfast!

Food was good and dinner was always accompanied with local music and dances.

As expected, snorkeling is awesome in Fiji. I particpated in a snorkeling tour where they let ous out at 3 different locations with coral reefs. My friend wa able to do her scuba diving session that she was so much looking forward to. The staff made it happen.

The only thing that did not make us happy was that their "all inclusive" package is far from what you know from "All inclusive" clubs: if you don't like filter coffee but cappuccino, you had to pay for it. Also free drinks were only available at certain times. During Happy Hour, "All inclusive" didn't count at all, you had to pay etc. We were not able to figure out what the benefit of this so called "All inclusive" package was compared to full board. Maybe only worth it if you like to drink lots of alcohol with your meals.

The team couldn't be more helpful, caring and look after you. Going above and beyond doesn't even come close including Sammy trimming back (unprompted!) some trees above my deck because it was shading my afternoon sun, and Lucy saving a quiet table for me because she knew I liked to be out of the crowd.

As a solo, female traveller I felt very safe. This is a small island with warm people running it. Lots of couples, not many families so a relaxing and peaceful vibe. Things here run like clockwork, until they don't and then you're very much on Fiji time but all the team are trying really hard. You can see they've taken on negative reviews and worked well to improve eg. snorkel gear is new, food is well seasoned, shade cloth is provided by the pool for those who want it.

I had beach burre accommodation which was clean with great storage plus private deck, hammock and two loungers stepping right onto the beach and snorkelling. The burres are well spaced from each other, face sunrise and felt very private. The pool could do with a little more water in it but that's it. The views of the mainland are stunning. Food in the restaurant was solid. The included breakfast consists of continental, fruits (fresh and tinned), plus four bain maries plus an egg station of which you can have an much or little as you want. I was there four nights and the bain marie was different every day.

I didn't pay for a food package and found the pricing was on par with other islands I stayed on. Please remember you're on a small island, off a slightly larger island in the middle of the South Pacific.

They have their own Red boat transfer which goes three times a day and is pretty the same price as the big ferry. If you're heading back to the mainland, the Red boat is almost 1.5hrs quicker. Can't recommend it enough.

If you're after 5-star, this is not the resort for you. If you're after a boutique experience with warm people who learn your name on day one then you cannot go past Serenity. The beach front accommodation is great value, especially when you compare to other resorts in the same price bracket.

I would like to start by saying that all the staff were welcoming and friendly but sadly the management and owners have let this resort run down very badly . This is strange as they are planning to build time share investment bungalows but no business person would even contemplate investing until many issues are sorted. The photos used for advertising the island must be 20 years old at least.
The transport links organized by Flight Centre were great and we landed to a warm welcome on the beach. There was no fixed deck to disembark and you stepped onto a dodgy mobile 1 metre platform in the dark .
Seated in reception we were given arrival paperwork to fill in along with a menu . It was only about 8pm and restaurant was open until 9pm. We said we would like to get showered and changed quickly and come back .
No problem they said and 20 minutes later they knocked on the door with the food and charged us $10 . Sat at the small coffee table with water out the fridge, not a great start but definitely the fastest meal we received in 10 days .
So after unpacking, entered the bathroom. Sink tap broken and hanging to the side, shower knob and cover came off in my hand . Went to go to the bar so tried the safe , not working ( none are in any rooms ! ) Tried to lock the front door very difficult and upon returning later the only outside light was not working. Surely most of these small issues could have been dealt with
before arrival?
Great location on the beach with reasonable snorkeling but would
recommend taking your own equipment.
Stepping onto the deck the first morning my partner cut her toe on a rusty
nail and on closer inspection about 6 or 7 were protruding 5mm. Once again easily repaired pre-arrival. Everything was repaired later in the day. The restaurant was a disaster , poor to average food with random service. The staff singing was lovely most nights. We were never in a rush but as someone who worked in hospitality for over 20 years just couldn't believe the disorganization and lack of training of the staff and the owners should be aware of this. It's a shame because this island is close to mainland and with a bit of TLC and training it could be a great spot. We booked an all inclusive package for the first time and we weren't explained to until charged that drinks and food were only included during meal times so if you fancied a night cap after dinner each night you paid. Also included was a massage for 2 and a boat trip . Trying to explain this and get organized was like pulling teeth but adventually did it get it sorted. We would definitely return to Fiji but not this island . I know it was a 3 star location and didn't expect perfection but felt frustrated overall and didn't look forward to dining. I hope for the sake of the staff things are improved soon .

The ocean rooms are amazing- the view is spectacular and you can lie in the sand and swim in the water in front of your room. You even get a hammock! The kids loved collecting shells all day long. The resort is much quieter especially the restaurant at night there aren't kids activities or kids club so we chose to eat meals on the balcony of our room which was just as lovely but would have been good if there was another space by the pool to eat dinner so the kids could play around. The staff are so kind and friendly and really love having kids on the island so they gets extra special attention and love. We had stayed in a big resort before so I'm so glad we got to experience a more raw and relaxed island experience as well. Food is very pricey on any island so if you have little ones you should bring some/lots of snacks with you to keep them full throughout the day.

There is a TV with netflix in the room too which was a bonus at night for the kids to wind down.

Also keep in mind it is an island and it is very small so if you have kids make sure you bring all medications/ first aid you think you may need with you to make your stay comfortable.

Really easy to get to from the airport using their red boat service.

Thank you for a lovely island experience 3 days wasn't enough!

Serenity Island resort is one of the world’s best kept secrets. The location is amazing, we have travelled to Fiji many times and the snorkelling is the best we have experienced. The staff are such beautiful people and go out of their way to make sure your holiday is the best it can be. We did a couple of day trips out to seventh heaven and cloud9 and a private boat was organised for our group. There are also opportunities for island hopping, snorkelling trips and a mainland village trip. The food was great, our room was cleaned beautifully each day, which was no easy feat with all the sand our kids dragged in, we stayed in a beachfront room, which most of the rooms are, what an amazing view to wake up to each day. The rooms are all independent and are very private. our room was not one of the recently refurbished ones but was very comfortable and well equipped with everything we needed, the bed was king size and very comfortable. I really can’t rate this resort high enough, we will definitely be back one day soon.

We had a wonderful stay on Serenity Island! The staff are very friendly and helpful and absolutely adore kids (we didn't take any but could see that they would have a great time).

I recommend booking a taxi and the Red Boat service through the staff prior to getting there. You can pay for the boat online (they'll send a link) but the taxi is 55FJD cash each way (you can pay for the return at the same time). If you go from Vuda Marina there is a good bar (The Boat House) with food if you're waiting for the boat for a while, and the boat goes from the pontoon directly next to the bar. Wear shoes that you can get wet.

The bures are clean and have mostly everything you need - tea and coffee, umbrellas for if it rains, bath and beach towels, mini toiletries, TV. The bed in ours was very hard so watch out if you have a bad back. No lockable safe in the room, but we weren't worried about things going missing.

There are lots of free activities every day, including fish feeding and turtle feeding. There is usually a session to learn something as well, like cooking, history, language, and drinking kava. There are paid activities that you can do as well, like diving or visiting other islands.

Free snorkelling equipment and kayaks/paddleboards are available for use, first-come first-serve. The reef is beautiful if you go a bit further out, closer to shore there's a lot of coral rubble and bleached/fluorescing coral, but you'll still see lots of reef fish and other animals (sharks, seahorses, starfish, sea cucumbers, clams, tube worms, etc.). Definitely worth going out snorkelling for the fish feeding. You can walk the entire way around the island easily and take your snorkelling gear if you want a more secluded place to swim.

Breakfast is a buffet (fill up!), lunch can be bar food or the main menu, and dinner is the main menu in the restaurant. Small selection of vegetarian food available. Happy hour with half-price drinks is from 5pm-6pm. We just had breakfast included and paid for other meals/drinks - seems like you would need to order the most expensive things on the menu every day to make half/full-board worth it. The island is cashless and everything is charged to your room. The food is good, but the restaurant service is quite chaotic, so book an earlier dinnertime than you would normally and be aware that you might have to chase things (Fiji time). There's usually singing from the staff each night which is lovely.

Thanks to all the staff for a great stay!

Serenity Island Resort is truely a little gem of a stay in Fiji. I travelled with my two adult daughters and we stayed in two Buro's (shacks) right on the waters edge. Waking up every morning to amazing views of the water and having afternoon nibbles and drinks right outside our Buro and relaxing on our hammock, we could not have asked for a better location to enjoy some Mother and Daughter time.

The staff are so warm and welcoming nothing is too much trouble (in particular Sammy really made our stay special going that extra mile). Please remember the saying "Fiji Time" as it is an actual thing lol. No one is in a rush and sometimes you might need to ask a couple of times but we get there in the end. The staff sing to us every night just after dinner which was so special.

We were concerned with a few of the negative reviews we read prior to arriving onto the island, but seriously some of those people must have been expecting the Ritz, as it is certainly not, but why would you want an "Island Experience" and complain about the simplicity of Serenity Island. The rooms are well equipped, comfy beds and pillows, lovely white sheets. Yes there was some areas in the bathroom and skirtings that could have been a little cleaner, but we were fine with everything.

The food was quite nice, but expensive for the serving sizes, but we really enjoyed most of the food we had. A little tip is to take nibbles, snacks and drinks for your stay which we bought from the supermarket at Port Denarau prior to getting on the boat to the island.

There is an activities board every day of things to do, but you will most likely want to simply go for walks around the island, see the sunset from the opposite side and just RELAX as this is the perfect place to do so. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Serenity Island Resort as a true "Island Experience".

Honestly it wasn't great like I was expecting. We've been travelling in Fiji and we've tried different places, also much cheaper than Serenity Resort with much better experience and service.
We thought that for the money spent we were going to spend a very good 3 days but unfortunately it wasn't like that.
I've been trying to book shark snorkelling before to arrive at the Serenity Resort and as soon as we finally made (after few issues on communication), they took us to a spot where there were NO sharks. So we spent $400 FJD for a snorkelling that we could do in front of the resort for free. After a long trip back to the resort with awful ocean conditions, we found someone else's luggage out of our room door, our clothes and bath towels (left outside drying) all balled up on top of a chair from someone of the staff and our room not clean because they tried to contact us while we were away, to try to make us to change room in the middle our stay.
Honestly it wasn't a big deal but for the money we spent we were expecting better. We stayed in much cheaper places before to arrive to Serenity Island were the experience and the service were much much better either spending way less money.
The only positive experience of Serenity was Sammy the activities guy, he was very very funny and brought some good vibes
Unfortunately we won't come back again because we truly believe that there are better places in Fiji that you could go

Bula, Silvia! Thank you very much for sharing your feedback regarding your recent stay at Serenity Island. We sincerely apologize if the experience was not up to par, particularly with the snorkeling tour and the room transfer. This is not our standard and certainly not how we want our guests to feel after leaving the island. We have taken your comments into consideration, and we'd like to inform you that we have now partnered with a different diving company which we hope would provide a better experience for all our guests. We are glad to hear though that Sammy provided a positive element to your stay. We hope that you would give Serenity Island another chance. Should you decide to come back, please reach out to our Resort Manager directly at gm@serenityisland.com.fj so that we can ensure a seamless stay. Thank you, Serenity Island Management Team

Hi, from the shore it is not possible, because the large and medium ones do not go in shallow water. Need a boat. Local guides offer primitive fishing, hook, reel line and pieces of fish. You don't have to carry the gear so far.

we just put a deposit down for a card/ticket and got refunded the difference when we left. It's all legit. but you pay a premium for stuff on a remote island. but we were day visitors only.
