It was a beautiful, quiet, place--very nice comfortable room and a good base from which to visit Carrizo Plains and other areas along 58 where the wildflowers were blooming. which was our reason for traveling. (It is also a perfect place to stay conveniently near Paso Robles if you want to visit local vineyards and wineries).

We also enjoyed birding around the ranch and vineyards the morning we left.

This is a great value for the quality of the place and the inclusion of a cooked breakfast (and other extras if you book 2 nights or more with them directly). Everyone we interacted with was friendly and helpful.

We recently spent two nights at Eden House Vineyard to do some wine tasting in the area. The accommodations were updated, spotless, and very nice. The full breakfast provided each morning was delicious and staff was very friendly. The property is located in a rural setting with vineyards, domesticated animals, and places to walk and or lounge (inside or out) of the house. Although the location is rural, you are only 10 minutes from downtown Paso Robles if you’re looking for a place to have dinner. We enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate returning in the future if we were in the area.

I so glad I found this gem of a B&B. I was looking for something small during this Covid pandemic so as to minimize risks and it was worth it. The innkeeper came in every morning to make me a hot, filling breakfast and provided me with local restaurant recommendations. The only problem I found was that my room would get really toasty in the middle of the night despite the thermostat being off, I'm not sure how to explain that but I did bring it to the attention of the staff. I hope to definitely return and enjoy some more time in the country away from the city lights and noise.

If you want breakfast prior to 9:30am; don't stay here.
If you want real coffee (not in-room hotel coffee) before 8:30am; don't stay here.
If you want an innkeeper that is available or responses to messages in a timely (less than 2.5 hours during the middle of Friday); don't stay here.

Feels like an AirBNB experience not a B&B experience.

Below was the email I sent to the Innkeeper/Owner:

Our stay did not meet our expectations. We checked out on Saturday morning and were there for the almost 12 hour power outage on Friday, starting at 6:35am.

While I understand the power outage was out of your control, the response, poor communication and lack of assistance during the outage is within your control and/or your staff’s control. I am happy to share text messages received from your staff during the outage. Not once was information provided or solutions suggested. I was told to check PGE’s website myself. We got a bunch of excuses (we came at 8:30am with coffee) and “it’s not our fault”.

Also, 9:30am as the default time for breakfast is very late given the early nature of Paso. The farm/vineyard is awake by 6:30am and most restaurants close by 8:30pm. We did not get to enjoy either morning of breakfast. We attempted to get breakfast scheduled earlier one day but there was a 3 hour text message response delay, which made it not possible. Last, if 9:30am is an intentional choice, this should have been disclosed when I emailed the week in advance of our stay asking about the property and breakfast.

Overall, our stay felt like an Airbnb not a professionally managed/staffed bed and breakfast.

Some positives- nice toiletries provided in bathroom, good wifi, spacious room/bathroom.

______

The email response (after 4 business days) was a continued parade of excuses with nary an apology. Basically, I was told "beyond our control" and that we have had "no issues so far" with the 9:30am breakfast time.

We requested "early" breakfast for Friday and was told we could have it at 8/8:30am. The staff didn't even arrive until 8:30am on Friday morning...We attempted to request early breakfast for Saturday and this is the text message that was replied to after 2.5 hours and the tone was one of major inconvenience. At which point, we decided to not engage.

Good Morning StephaniedT6518TT I am so sorry to hear how disappointed you were with your stay. We are currently serving breakfast at 9am as well if a guest requests an earlier breakfast we are happy to do what we can WITH PRIOR NOTICE (prior not being that morning). We responded to your 10 something text messages all day about the PG&E’s power outage. The entire area was out for the whole day. This does occasionally happen in California especially during fire season, however most of our guests leave for the day so we usual don’t upset people. You were very rude in your messages and demanding we do something and all she tried to do was explain again and again we had no control over the power outage. We have coffee fresh brewed every morning so I am not sure what that is about. I think rather then a B&B you may be better suited at a chain hotel that has a generator and 24 hour staff on site. I might also note the other guests were all fine that stayed at the same time and I received very lovely notes from them. As for address my responding directly to you, yes this is what I replied not that your behavior to my staff deserved a reply. My staff should always be treated with the same respect as they show our guests. Cheers Elizabeth Owner

We had a fantastic stay in the cozy Syrah room of the Eden House, and can't wait to visit again! The property is gorgeous, and is less than 10-15 minutes away from some of the best wineries in the region. Everything was perfect and ready for us when we arrived, and we woke each morning to a delicious breakfast (something that is a must when you have a hard day of wine tasting all day ahead of you!).

We definitely plan on stay here again, the next time we visit Paso wine country!

wow! we absolutely loved our stay at eden house. my husband and I were road tripping from LA to big sur and stayed here for one night as one of our stops. we called and spoke with jocelyn to see if we could get an early check in and they were so accommodating even though we asked last minute. It was so appreciated! we arrived to eden house and it is so adorable. the property is so charming, intimate, and felt so comforting. I felt right at home.

they are very careful with their covid-19 protocol. they left self check-in instructions for us on the front door to minimize exposure as much as possible. we stayed in the syrah suite and we absolutely loved it. not only was the room extremely clean, it was so stylish and modern. they also offered breakfast with our stay. our sweet host cooked and plated all the meals for each guest staying there, which you can choose to enjoy in the dining room (socially distanced) or in your room. it was so delicious and the portions were very generous!! I was stuffed haha. I already miss our stay at eden house, but we will most definitely be back!! amazing staff, beautiful property and rooms, I really can’t ask for more.

I was looking for a quiet retreat to get away from the hectic summer in the city. I booked the carriage house and was delighted to find it even more charming and welcoming than what I had imagined. The rooms were spotless and there was some snacks available at my arrival (much needed after the journey). The property is beautiful and alive, I spent evenings strolling about and saying hi to the goats and various animals on the property. The owners were helpful with suggestions on where I could go biking and I found beautiful trails to explore. Highly recommended !

We had a very enjoyable 3 night stay at this lovely property in the heart of Templeton. The room we stayed at was the Grenache room. It had a master bedroom and living room. There was a balcony that has a lot of privacy. The windows look out onto the woods. Secluded and tranquil, this room is the best one. Jodi prepared some excellent breakfasts for us. She let us feed the long horn cows that on the property. We had fun feeling Oliver and Churro some carrots. We walked up the hill and walked around the property a few times. It is a 1.5 mile loop with about 200 feet elevation. Jodi also gave us a lot of tips on local restaurants, hikes and wineries. The owner also sends her recommendation of local restaurants and wineries once you confirm your reservation. Overall, it was a very nice stay. We will definitely recommend this bed and breakfast to family and friends. We will be back as well.

This is our second time here. Last year we stayed here and we knew then this would be our FOREVER home stay from home in Paso Robles/Templeton area going forward. This time it was our greatest pleasure to meet the owner Elizabeth and her adorable son who helped out in the kitchen for breakfast. Our room and the breakfasts were wonderful as always. We also enjoyed all the animals around her house & property (two resident cats, three sheep, and five chickens). The only regret we had is that we didn’t stay longer. Next time we plan to bring my mother in law along and stay longer.

We can’t say enough good things about our stay at the Eden House. We stayed for 3 nights over Easter weekend and everything about the stay was a 10 out of 10. We have been coming up to the area for 20+ years and have always stayed in a hotel. This was the most relaxing trip ever. We may never stay in a hotel again. Special cudos to Christine for fixing the most amazing breakfasts each morning and being so welcoming and informative. We will definitely be back!
