I stayed two nights at Kitenga Lodge for my wedding. We were getting married at Kauri Bay Boomrock (10 mins away) and I wanted somewhere close to stay the night before with my bridesmaids and the night after the wedding with my husband. Very gorgeous setting! Nikki was lovely to deal with and the homemade bread was delicious. Felt very at home at Kitenga!

We arrived late evening and couldn’t see the ocean views from our room. However, we were blown away to see the ocean view from the hill top location of our room the following morning. I can confidently say that words will not do justice to the beauty that we witnessed from our room. The spectacular views are just the starters. What makes this place even more exceptional is Nikki’s (owner) hospitality. We had the privilege to have dinner with Nikki and Bruce (her husband). We are vegetarians and Nikki went out of her way to treat us with a delicious dinner. She surprised us with a great breakfast before we left the next day. Our son had a chance to try fresh milk from the neighbor’s dairy. Nikki’s homemade breakfast bread was very tasty. We noticed that Nikki has won several prestigious national awards for her bed and breakfast. A stay at her bed and breakfast should be a must do on everyone’s itinerary if visiting Auckland. She has two rooms so one must plan and book in advance. After our stay, we are not surprised why her B&B is so desired.

What a find! Just 40 minutes from Auckland, perched high above the beautiful coastline near Clevedon, with open views for miles across countryside and sea.
Kitenga - Maori for view, perception or observation - offers 'luxury bed and breakfast'. And that's exactly what we experienced.
The Ponui suite (one of two suites) was immaculately clean, well-equipped and beautifully presented. Nikki and Bruce are warmly welcoming and attentive to every need, but they are discretely in the background so that the stay is both private and peaceful.
We loved the pool - a bracing 14 degs in September - and the hot tub spa (which was wonderful after a sprightly swim!). And of course the views are stupendous .... and the peace - ah, the peace. A refuge from the daily whirl of work and commitments.
The innovative idea for guests to prepare their own breakfasts is excellent - we really enjoyed bacon and eggs and all the trimmings, cooked by us, in our own time, in the comfort and privacy of our own suite.
A bottle of bubbles - complimentary on arrival, together with fresh fruit, biscuits, chocolates and the makings for breakfast ... what a terrific welcome!
There is nothing not to like. We will most definitely stay again ....

We had sole use of the suite for 2 nights and slept in the double aspect room with beautiful views over the countryside to the coast. This was just what we needed after a long flight from the UK. We were made to feel welcome by the owners (along with enjoying some lovely treats) and made good use of the hot tub (& slightly less so the pool-only my husband was brave enough to swim in the cool water!!). The bed was comfy and the setting very quiet and relaxing which made for a good night's sleep. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck and felt the setting was spectacular. Our breakfast supplies were plentiful and made for a delicious start to the day. An excellent start to our visit to NZ. Thank you

We stayed here for 1 night and wished we could have stayed longer. Nikki was wonderful and so welcoming. She stocked the fridge with everything for breakfast and we had fresh bread and wine and chocolates! The place is so comfortable and very private. There is a pool and spa and wifi. We would love to stay there again.

An absolutley fantastic place and location to stay at, Nicki was a most graicous host and has beautiful place to relax and unwind. Whether its the fresh bread for breakfast or sitting in the spa looking out to sea or watching the planes flying from overseas at night a truly stunning place to unwind, even the old fire truck in the paddock with the boat on the back just oozes relaxation.
So close to the airport 20 - 25 minutes we will be back to stay and make more use of the local markets, cafes and resturants. Thanks ever so much Nicki and Bruce.

We had two nights here in Clevedon at Kitenga Luxury B&B. What an incredible place. Kitenga means "view" in Maori and what a view. Spectacular. Situated on a hill overlooking the sea. The lush farming & bush landscape frame this magnificent view. We absolutely loved it. The facilities are 5 star plus. We took our bikes and explored the surrounds ( a great farmers market is not far) and then soaked in the spa in the evening.
The hosts Nikki & Bruce are wonderful hosts. They know the area well and can assist you in the local knowledge. They're there if you want them to be or not. Lots of lovely surprises that make this place a real must experience. Thankyou Nikki & Bruce - I hope it won't be too long that we can return.

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful night at the Kitenga B&B. With very short notice (just a couple of hours), host Nikki could not have been more helpful - she was even, quite literally, on her way out the door when I called to make the booking. I would never have known from our experience and the little touches we found on arrival.

The pool was lovely, the spa just the right temperature (cooler than most, perfect for us) and the room with a shared kitchen (we were the only guests there) was lovely. We enjoyed being able to cook a delicious breakfast at our leisure, though I guess some may prefer not to do this - we loved it as it meant we were really truly under no pressure (and could hang out in our bathrobes).

The shared kitchen / lounge may be a little odd if there were other guests there are the same time, but would be great for family or 2 couples, for example.

I'd quite happily check in, bring nibbles and not leave til they kicked me out. Looking forward to next time when we hope to make the most of the 1pm check out!

Room Tip: I think we had the Ponui suite, we'd ask for that one again - furtherest away from anyone else.
