We cycled from Kingston and were riding against the start of rain during the early afternoon. They let us access our rooms quite early in the day which we greatly appreciated. The rooms were spacious. Comfy beds, TV, housecoat, quiet at night, and the pet dog kept me company for a while. They locked our bicycles in the garage as well. Breakfast was delicious, simple and the right amount. We really enjoyed our stay and plan to go back.

We stayed here a couple of nights in late June while cycling the K&P Trail. We stayed in the Bon Echo room which was a decent size and the bed was quite comfortable. Breakfast on both mornings was good. Greg was very knowledgeable about the area and provided lots of useful information. He is particularly passionate about the need for other local businesses to improve their offerings for tourists; something we agreed with considering the challenges we had finding places to eat lunch and dinner.

We had booked a room at the Rock Hill B+B and were really looking forward to our stay there. When I came to confirm, it became clear that there had been a mix up with the dates which, upon further examination turned out to be entirely my fault. When I spoke to Greg on the phone, he explained that they had a small guest room which was only let out to groups who were also staying in one of their main guest rooms. This was because of needing to share the bathroom facilities and because of this, it was not suitable for us. I have read that someone else has put up a very unkind review of this room. Presumably they must have been told beforehand that this was the case?

We were really disappointed to find that our booking was a day out and that they were fully booked on the night in question. They recommended the nearby Sharbot Lake Country Inn and we will review this separately.

As our booking had also included meals, they kindly honoured this part of the booking and we found that Greg and Arlette were superb hosts! They were very interesting to talk to and their cooking was superb. We had dinner and breakfast with them and really wished that we could have fully enjoyed the B+B. The dinner and breakfast were life savers since much of the surrounding area eateries were closed.

So would we stay there again? Yes for sure!! Hopefully I will get the date right next time and I apologise for the confusion.

I find it difficult to rate Rock Hill, despite much experience of B&B’s. It has good food and features, but the utter impersonal attitude of the hosts, and inaccuracies of their website, has me puzzled.
We stayed in the ground floor Kennebec room, which is quite large, with a nice electric fireplace, and decent bathroom. Plenty of hot water, shower in bath. The “private” deck is a wider part of a partial wrap around walkway, and was generally quiet until other guests arrived on it, not realizing that it was supposed to be private. Not a big deal, but it might bother some people. The “Lake View” is mostly blocked, with gaps through. The barbecue is not on this deck. The room is advertised as having “Antique Furnishings” which simply do not exist! There is a busy road below the house next to the lake, so noisy in daytime, but quiet at night. Although we stayed for 5 nights, no room or bathroom cleaning was done.
Arlette provided some really good dinners at extra cost. Their website offers an appetizer, or charcuterie tray, which was not offered. The salad was very small, and vegetables with the main dish were also small in quantity, but otherwise good. Dessert was tasty as was a vegetarian dish. Beef was tender and generous.
Breakfast was disappointing. There was no juice, orange or otherwise, and the fruit and yogurt was so tiny! Perhaps 2 level teaspoons of each, with fresh fruit finely cut. 3 slices of bacon accompanied every breakfast, and the dishes were reasonable, but without any vegetables, or decoration, though our first breakfast was only 1 fluffed up egg on white bread/toast. One muffin was given to each guest every day, to eat, or take away.
Arlette was helpful when asked, and found time to chat with us only just before we left. Greg was pleasant, but failed to engage us in any conversation. Not what we expected as phrases such as “connecting with others”, “connecting with host”,” meaningful conversation”, “warm company” dotted their website. It appeared to be his job to connect with guests, while Arlette did the cooking.

This was our first visit to the Rock Hill B&B and we are already looking ahead to returning next spring.
The owners were very welcoming and gave us their full attention. They shared their knowledge of the Sharbot Lake area and all the many points of interest it has to offer.
Our room was nicely laid out and extremely clean and neat. One other reviewer mentiond the close proximity to the highway but that was not an issue at all, especially at night when there was virtually no traffic. Since the house sits high above the highway there is very little road noise even during the day. The patio overlooking the road was a wonderful place to hang out on a nice afternoon so we spent some time out there just enjoying the great weather.
The food was also a high point. Breakfast was well prepared and quite adequate and as with most B&Bs where we have stayed it was a chance to converse with our hosts and other guests.
We also opted to try one of the dinner selections that are available by request. We chose the beef tenderloin with a port wine sauce and it was fabulous. Done perfectly! It was all in all a very memorable dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
The Sharbot Lake area is natures beauty at its best and a great place to stay if you like walking, hiking, water sports (including fishing) or just relaxing. It is very near to the Sharbot Lake Provincial Park and all the activities it has to offer.
We would not hesitate to recommend the Rock Hill B&B. It was absolutely delightful!

Immediately felt dooped as their website gives impression they are lake front. We booked and should have stayed at The Country Inn which IS on the lake. Greeting was rushed and only the dog's name was shared. Be aware there is a medium sized dog which is not disclosed on their website. Regimen time for breakfast which was cold. Had to run to a coffee shop before breakfast. The additional guest room had laundry piled on the only chair, closets had clothes and junk in them so luggage remained on the floor, No mirror, no wifi card, and had to pull out a side table to find a plug to charge tablet. They must use a company or pay extra to have negative reviews removed. I can't be the only guest who was disappointed by the misrepresentation.

We just returned from a two day, three night visit to Frontenac County where we were fortunate enough to be the inaugural participants in the Weekend Getaway offered by Frontenac Trail Tours. Frontenac Trail Tours (FTT) is a new venture springing from the hearts and minds of Greg and Arlette Rodgers, the owners of Rock Hill B&B of Sharbot Lake. Recognising the benefits of the newly completed section of the K & P Trail from Kingston to Sharbot Lake, they offer a selection of various tours for cyclists from single day trips to multi day tours that take you south on the trail to Kingston and beyond to Wolfe Island. Frontenac County offers much in the way of cycling, hiking, car touring and, in the winter, cross country skiing and snowshoeing.

Greg and Arlette are wonderful hosts who go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your visit. The food at the Rock Hill Bed & Breakfast is outstanding and features many of the local products to be found in Frontenac. If you get the chance to
experience their signature steak dinner, take it. You will not be sorry.

Our tour included a visit to Seed to Sausage, a haven of great bacon, steaks and sausages as well as local jams and jellies and artisanal cheese from Back 40 Artisanal Cheese. Frontenac is also home to many artists and we visited the wood workshop of Ken Waller who produces beautiful wood products. Whatever your interest,Greg and Arlette will figure out a tour that suits you. And if you buy anything, Greg will carry it back to Rock Hill for you.

Greg also knows the best places to take a refreshing dip in one of the lakes and for us it was a small but pretty little beach on Long Lake. After a full morning of riding on a very hot day we arrived at the beach to find Greg had set up a change tent and provided a picnic lunch and beach towels. The swim was very welcome although barely refreshing as the water must have been 85 degrees. It was delightful.

Given the current pandemic, some of the artists and suppliers are currently wary of opening their doors. There are pottery studios, glass studios and many other artists in the area that eventually hope to participate as and when the pandemic runs its course but in the meantime there is still plenty to keep your interest.

The only caveat to this is that anyone who is planning to enjoy some time in Frontenac in the summer months should be sure to be well supplied with insect repellent as given the multitude of water and forest in the area bugs would otherwise be a nuisance.

We look forward to a return to Sharbot Lake in the fall to partake of the multi day ride to Wolfe Island and back.

I had been travelling to and through Sharbot Lake for years now, but finally - and HAPPILY - chose to stay at 'Rockhill' just recently...
The building/home: a beautiful, old stone house the sits prettily atop a hill right in the middle of the village of Sharbot Lake. This makes it easy to walk to the beach, nearby restaurants/cafe, or the grocery store.
Hosts: Greg and Arlette were warm, welcoming, safe amidst this whole pandemic, and accommodating. Friendly and knowledgeable about the area, Greg was also starting up a cycling tour option when we were there.
The stay: comfortable bed in a nice, quiet and cool room was perfect. Breakfast was delicious with some nice touches. A pretty, calm, and quiet stay in a nice little village, this is where you want to be while staying Sharbot Lake!!

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Rock Hill Bed and Breakfast this Fall. The Fall colours are beautiful and it is an area of Ontario that we hadn't visited before. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious with attention to detail. At this time, you can have the option of adding a steak dinner to your package. Don't delay in booking this at it was a wonderful meal. Greg and Arlette go the extra mile to make sure your vacation is special. There are walking and bike trails in the area, many lakes, and it is a foodie destination for sure.

My parents and I stayed over at Rock Hill BnB for my wedding. Greg and his wife are great hosts with a beautiful property in Sharbot Lake. The rooms were very clean with good matrasses. My parents even had a little patio area with a propane heater which made it really nice to sit outside and have a beer with my dad. It make my wedding day all the more relaxed knowing that we were well taken care of before heading of to the mass.
