#2 of 8 hotels in Sonora
Travellers' Choice
The Sonora Inn was built in 1896 and originally named the Hotel Victoria. The Inn has played host to notables and celebrities including Grace Kelly during the filming of High Noon and more recently Drew Barrymore while she worked on the film Bad Girls. The hotels architecture and finishes reflect the popular California Mission style of the 1920's that hosted Hollywoods elite during the golden era of tourism and film making. Centrally located in historic downtown Sonora, and with exceptional views from the roof top swimming pool, the historic California hotel is the perfect place for travelers with an interest in the historic Gold Rush and Yosemite National Park. There are countless adventures to be found in nearby historic towns, year round recreation attractions. Unique shops, local theater, boutique, wineries and both fine & casual dining. The Historic Sonora Inn towers 3 stories. The Historic Inn has recently been remodeled.

The lady that checked us in was very nice. The hotel is kept with the historic feel. The bathroom sink faucets are a little funny, but I guess that’s part of keeping it historic. It’s walking distance from lots of restaurants. There’s rumors about it being haunted but I didn’t notice anything weird and our dog don’t notice anything either.

The only one Brazilian in Sonora. Quiet city! Walmart, Famous Footware, Aple Bee's. Around Sonora we can practice snow sports I'm Stanislaus Forest. Yosemite valley is near but I didn't visit. Could be in another trip. Enjoy Sonora!

Great location and very friendly and accommodating staff! Hotel is true to the historic theme so the single rooms are quite small. Bed was a bit firm and not as comfortable as in commercial hotels, but ok for a few nights stay. Only complaint would be that the carpeting in the rooms really needs to be replaced (not only stained and worn, but completely worn away from threshold) and the carpets cleaned throughout the hotel. Otherwise, very quaint.

This hotel was very much in keeping with the Gold-Rush atmosphere of Sonora Ca. The accoutrements were very much in keeping, and ghosts minded their own business. The Continental breakfast was much better than average, and the addition of an elevator for the upper floors was a nice touch, as my wife is disabled. I expected parking to be difficult, but it actually was pretty easy to manage. Park on the street if you can, but do be careful crossing it. Most local drivers are very courteous, but the occasional out-of-towner can be very rude.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating. This area is adhering to local COVID protocols and we had a lovely visit. Given this is a restored building, some of the features and layout of the room were a bit dated, but the location was convenient and we had no complaints. Parking was not available due to nearby construction, but we had no problems parking on the street over the weekend. This could be an issue for weekdays due to 3hr parking limits on the downtown street.
