We have just checked out of Lavender Inn by the sea after a wonderful stay. The location is perfect, just off highway 1 and a very short walk (5 mins) from the seafront with lots of restaurants and shops to explore. When we arrived a bottle of champagne was chilling in the fridge and the staff put some rose petals and chocolates on the bed (we were on our honeymoon). The staff were extremely friendly, special mention to Jesus who was helpful when we arrived and gave us a map of the area and a list of recommended restaurants. Lavender’s sister hotel, Bridas del Mar Inn (opposite) allows free bike rental which was perfect for getting around. The Inn also has a free happy hour every evening with some local wines. Breakfast was also a hit, a continental selection with a quaint patio area which was simply lovely. The bed is one of the comfiest we have ever stayed in! Would highly recommend staying here!

My husband planned a 3 day weekend trip to Santa Barbara. This is our first trip since October 2019 and was much needed!
The Lavender Inn is located in a great spot, a bike ride away to the waterfront/ocean. They also have complimentary bike rentals so I recommend taking advantage of that service!
Their lobby was closed so we were directed to check in across the street at their sister property. Check in was easy and quick. Our room was #20, second floor with a king bed. The bathroom didn’t have a tub but looked like it was remodeled recently. Bed was very soft, almost too soft in my opinion.
I do feel like we didn’t get to experience the full charm and quaintness of the Inn because the coronavirus eliminated any breakfast buffet or nightly happy hours they normally would have. But they did the best they could and our room had a welcome bottle of sparkling wine along with lunch sacks containing yogurt, fruit, cereal and granola. I thought it was a great effort by the hotel and I would love to come back and be able to experience everything this hotel has to offer.
The grounds of the property are lovely, I loved all the flowers and garden area.
Overall- an amazing stay and definitely will be coming back if I ever come to Santa Barbara again.

Our stay here was so, so nice and insanely charming and relaxing. When we first walked into our room, we found complimentary champagne cooling for us, which was a great treat! There's also complimentary b-fast (cereals, oatmeal, fruit), wine most evenings and cookies & milk, which is such a sweet, thoughtful touch. The rooms were super clean, with extras of soap and shampoo (lavender, of course!) We had a robe each hung up for us, which is always a nice touch after a long day of exploring. It's only a short walking distance (though going over the busy highway entrance is a pain) to State Street, where all of the restaurants, museums, bars, etc. are. I highly recommend staying here if you want to feel as though you're in a home away from home while you enjoy a new area.

We stayed at this facility recently and when we went into the room my husband thought that the bed had been slept in but on closer inspection it was the bedding had not been ironed at all. The dust was on all surfaces as shown, therefore it was very clear that it had not been polished for some time with the result that the room felt grubby, dated and expensive. We met a friend and when we told her what our room rate was, she called the hotel and asked what the rate was for that evening and it was much less than we paid and it was available. Also unless we asked for them to provide clean towels every day by noon they would not automatically be done. We did ask and they were not delivered. Our bed was not made as we failed to ask for that! I thought we were staying in an ‘Inn’. The continental breakfast was on paper plates and plastic knives and forks which bent when you tried to spread the butter - utterly useless. I expected Basil Fawlty to make an appearance at any time.
Although the location is good and the bed comfortable I would not recommend this ‘Inn’ - there is a large number of other places to stay. Overall I was really disappointed with my stay.
I understand at the time when Covid was at it peak some amendments may have been necessary but this is no longer a valid excuse.

It looks nothing like in the picture. Rooms are small old fashioned, breakfast is a shame. We were starving in the morning and the food in a beg was really minimal. No drinking water in the room no plastic utilities and I had to fight for a living room table which was missing in the room. They closed the office and you have to go across the street to get every thing. Location is not bad. They cut off all amenities to customer even though there is no doubt in my mind that they are getting lots of money from the feds. Prices are very high for what you get in return.

Greetings Roni6, I am terribly sorry to hear that you were dissapointed in your recent stay with us. As we discussed in your many communications with us before your arrival, Covid related government and industry guidelines have required that we modify some of our food services and amenities. Social distancing mandates have also requires that we close are very small reception area at the Lavender Inn and guests are asked to use our sister hotel located across the street. The safety of our guests and team members are our highest priority. Most of our guests are relieved to see that we are practicing required safety protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19, however, I understand that you were dissapointed. Please accept our sincerest apologies. Greg Broussard General Manager

Not our first stay. We have been coming here and the sister hotels in the last few months, hence the reason I booked them directly for this weekend for my mom's bday. Nothing screamed louder more than the special note: it is my mom's bday.

While was not expecting special, we got a cold treatment at check-in and only when they figured we booked directly treated us human beings. Still didn't worth much as we were told our room will will be ready in an hour...after waiting 45 min. we asked the maid who had no clue that our room should have been cleaned!

We booked a deluxe room and he "forgot" to say that the room he eventually put us indeed is cheaper.

Looks like the manager's friends who can get the po view rooms.

Something also happened with their breakfast as it declined from 2 weeks ago.

I don't need a cookie cutter copy/paste apology. I want others know how loyalty does not count here! Also, how poorly they treat you, ruining of your special weekend and occasion.

I just went ahead and cancelled our 6 nights for xmas.

We stayed for six nights at the Lavender Inn having stayed at the equally lovely sister property Inn by the Harbor previously. What they do is simple and done very well - friendly staff, very clean, comfortable and quiet bedrooms, a pleasant continental breakfast, a nice pool area, and very welcome complimentary wine in the early evening. The location is brilliant - walking distance to the Marina, State Street, the Funk Zone and the beaches. Also no hidden charges - parking, wifi, and bottled water and coffee in the rooms all included. We would be happy to stay here again when we return to Santa Barbara

We stayed over the weekend to celebrate both a birthday and anniversary. Reservations were at the last minute and we were delighted to find this place. The location is great- two blocks from the beach, within a mile of restaurants, went to the Farmers Market on Saturday which was fabulous. Rooms were immaculate, bottle of champagne in the room, along with a bagged breakfast- due to COVID. Missed the wine and cheese receptions again due to COVID. Rooms were quaint, old fashioned like atmosphere but very cozy. Pool was sparkling, we didn't get a chance to use it but there were kids enjoying it. Staff was exceptionally friendly, George and Justin helped us upon arrival and departure.
Would definitely stay again.

My husband and I stayed at the Lavender Inn for three nights while visiting my son, who's a student at UCSB. We wanted to enjoy the lively Santa Barbara scene.

The Lavender Inn was a charming, comfortable home away from home. We had a junior suite with a small second bedroom which provided a nice, sunny place for me to work in the morning while my husband was still asleep and gave us much appreciated extra space. The bathroom was spacious and well appointed.

One of the highlights was a long bike ride along the coastal route. Bikes are loaned at the sister inn across the street, Las Brisas. Our bikes were nice, new 7-speed Townies, very comfy and functional and we enjoyed a 20 mile ride.

The grounds are small but the landscaping is lovely, and the pool is beautiful. Breakfast is included and a nice selection was available each day. We enjoyed sitting on the patio while we ate. The staff were all wonderful, especially Aarron (spelling?) who was very friendly and informative.

The location is convenient to the highway, which made it easy to commute to UCSB. And it's just a few blocks from the ocean, the pier, and lots of great restaurants. The only downside is that it's on a busy street, just down from a gas station and 7 Eleven. Again, convenient, but not picturesque. You can find hotels closer to the beach in the same price range, but I think there might be a tradeoff in charm. We'll make this our go-to inn whenever we visit!

Had a one night stay in March. The room was cozy, beds were comfortable and the complimentary champagne and breakfast was a nice touch. We had difficulty with the air conditioner/fan and the room had a musty scent to it that aggravated our allergies. Aside from that, the inn is in a very convenient location close to everything and the front desk service clearly aimed to please. We were granted early check-in and were grateful for that.
