Perfect location and service you are less than 400 ft from the best concentration of Santa Barbara's classic restaurants, Joes, Palace etc . Its a boutique hotel just 1 year old and they did a supreme modern remodel. Valet parking fast and easy... It is the place to stay park and walk to over some 45 bars and restaurant's of every take... from Dim Sum to Italian to Cajun to Seafood. Stay here and enjoy without any parking hassle

The Virginia Hotel, built in 1916, but totally remodeled is a Hilton Tapestry property.

Our check in and room are very modern and functional for us, there is a small restaurant in the lobby where basics can be obtained for breakfast that we found to be very reasonable and tasty.

Parking in downtown Santa Barbara is at a premium and their charge of $30 per day though expensive is in line with other available parking.

We have found our location really conducive to walking as restaurants and local attractions such as Sterns Wharf and Funk Zone with wine tasting and food really convenient.

This was an excellent choice for us as my wife and I look forward to walking to our activities and meals.

Excellent lodging in a beautiful city!

This hotel has a good location, very close to the famous State Street, where there are countless shops, restaurants, cafes... it is also possible to walk to the Santa Barbara Pier. There is valet parking (30 USD per night). The service is attentive and friendly. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable. There is a minibar, espresso and tea maker, iron, TV and good air conditioning. Large bathroom with quality amenities. In the lobby there are bicycles for rent and a bar selling drinks, coffees and Starbucks hot chocolate, but it's not worth having breakfast. It's a good choice for those like us who spend most of the day exploring the destination.

Finding affordable in downtown Santa Barbara is a challenge. We always stayed at LaQuinta at the north end of State St but they are now a pricier totally renovated Marriott. This newly added Hilton boutique hotel seemed to be our only choice. Parking $30 with one valet only means you will always wait for your car which is steps away. Our king bed room was very small and dominated by the huge TV. Setting the thermostat to maintain temperature was confusing. The bathroom light turns on each time you enter the bathroom but not necessarily when you exit. If you get up during the night both bathroom light and exhaust fan go on. Too much light and noise for a quick pit stop.
The hotel is spotless with a friendly staff and good location for walking everywhere.

Good:
1)Nice lighting in the bathroom which I could actually do my makeup well with
2)Bed and pillows super comfortable, loved the bed!
3)Air conditioning and the way to control the vent and the fan is awesome!
4)Best refrigerator that we have ever had in a hotel stay! It was like a wine refrigerator that was kept so cool!
5)USB plugs and the phone with the magnetic charger was cool and was the first time we had that kind of charger in a hotel
6)Room looked really nice and updated
7)Make up mirror in the bathroom is a good touch
8)Excellent location on State Street. Loved it!

Not so good:
1)Only one sink and not enough shelf space (underneath) in the bathroom. I had to place my things on the floor
2)Not enough drawers for clothes in the main part of room
3)Main Shower head didn’t work so we had to use the hand held shower head, I asked the front desk to go by and fix it but nothing was ever fixed
4)No hooks by the bathtub for the towels so had to put them on the floor to be able to get them out of the shower
5)Didn’t clean my room automatically. I had to ask for it to be cleaned at 8am the second day. By 12:30pm it still hadn't been cleaned and I had to go back and ask again. It was finally cleaned while we went to the movies.
6)Bathroom light was horrible. I realized that it turned on automatically ever time we went in. This sounds good unless you go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and do not want the light on. I had to figure out how to cover the automatic sensor so it wouldn't turn on, ugh! It was a pain.
7) The curtains were nice but they had these handles on them that did not function very well to shut the curtains. I put a picture of them.
8)Even though this place is very close to the beach, they do not offer any beach towels. I had to ask for regular towels and then get a speech that they shouldn't get any stains on them or we would have to pay
9)This hotel doesn't offer any gyms or pools to use. When we stayed here before when it was owned by a different hotel chain, they did offer these amenities.
10)For the price we paid, I expected more

Don’t be fooled by the pics online. This place is/was a Holiday Inn. It was remodeled but as my husband said, “they put lipstick on a pig”.
When we walked into our room it smelled like sewage. I think it was coming from the bathroom sink …other reviews noted the same.
The room is tiny! Only one person can be walking around at a time. We could not find the remote control at all, and the TV was on when we arrived with a welcome message. We were tired and wanted to nap but had to nap with the brightness of the TV. It’s also extremely noisy…noise from inside and out. The only plus is the location right off of State Street so you can walk to lots of restaurants and bars. But I’m sure there are much better hotels in this location.

My wife and I booked Hotel Virginia for our 2nd wedding anniversary . I messaged the hotel on the hilton app a couple days before our stay letting them know we were celebrating our anniversary and the staff went above and beyond . Kayla who greeted us recognized our name at check in and wished us a happy anniversary, we were given a special gift at check in , she asked if we were wine drinkers and spent a good amount of time going over there wines at their bar while giving us countless activities to experience around Santa Barbara . We were fortunate to experience the old Spanish day’s festival they hold every august and her recommendations were beyond helpful . Throughout our stay I guess staff heard about our anniversary and everyone went above and beyond making us feel special, couldn’t ask for a better Santa Barbara experience

Pros :
Staff friendly
Rooms were updated (at least ours , 3rd floor ,1 king bed room)
Hotel location is 5 stars
10 min walk to the pier
1 minute walk to the first bar / restaurant on the downtown street that have bars and restaurants on each side of the street .
They have bikes to rent
Coffee and food from their cafe on site .
I would describe this hotel as a boutique style
Room was clean

Cons :
No pool
Valet is the only option for this hotel ($30) staff was friendly , and literally drive 10 feet into their parking lot that is 24/7 staffed with a 1 way in /out lot so vehicles won’t be tampered with
Food, I would recommend eating out
Historic hotel , so it’s old , we didn’t have any issues i saw that others had about walls being thin , or hearing our neighbors (maybe because we were on the 3rd floor)
Bathroom had a certain smell in the morning , but we had a candle 🕯️ going in the bathroom which eliminated the unknown odor so wasn’t a big deal
No smoking at the hotel / or their balcony on the 2nd floor (could be good or bad, depending on what your style is

I will be honest and say this is a high 3 star hotel. However the remodel style , location , friendliness of staff is what makes this a 5 star review . If you want the WOW factor, pool , ocean view then look at the other Hilton that is approximately 3-5 miles away from this location that has beach/ocean view .

Overall my wife and I really enjoyed this hotel , and the best part is we never drove , we were able to walk to everything. Thank you for the lovely stay

Disclaimer : we are Diamond members for Hilton , so we stay at Hilton resorts about 12-20 trips a year

Stayed overnight at the Hilton Hotel Virginia Santa Barbara with my wife. Terrible experience. I had just purchased a new BMW convertible that day and drove directly to the hotel to sleep overnight and then drive home the next day to our house in La Jolla. I had read reviews about this hotel alleging the valets had taken a car for a joyride, but my wife really wanted to try this hotel. When I dropped off the car with Tony outside the hotel, I mentioned these rumors, told him the car was brand new and please ensure no one drives it other than to park it in a safe spot in the hotel’s private valet parking lot. When we checked out in the morning and had the valet retrieve our car, he drove it up to us at the front of the hotel. When we dropped it off it was immaculate, literally a brand new car. After the valet service at Hilton Hotel Virginia Santa Barbara, the car was filthy as if it was parked under a dirty sprinkler system all night, and had sizeable bird crap right on the brand new black cloth roof. This kind of possible petty maliciousness at worse, and careless service at best, is not anywhere near acceptable from the Hilton brand. At a minimum we would never stay the Hilton Hotel Virginia Santa Barbara again. Beware!

For $500+ a night, they should warn guests that the rooms facing the street and bar are INCREDIBLY loud. The traffic and bar noise/music are inside your room - the soundproofing in such an old building is nonexistent, making it impossible to sleep or relax. Bar across the street is crazy loud until midnight - avoid at all costs if you value sleeping.

Perfect location to state street. Walking distance to most. Many good restaurants in the area and good atmosphere in the streets on the weekend.

The room was clean and large enough. Cleaning every day. Something listened, but is located in a quiet area.

Valet parking costs $35, and you can drive in and out anywhere you want.

The reception and lobby is small, but here you can get yourself a beer, coffee or a glass of wine if you want.
Nice staff.

No resort fee but parking is charged and limited, but once you park there’s no need to use the car everywhere is walkable. The charge was displayed on the website. I think it may have been around $14.
