Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Park sits nicely in a micro climate. When it's 100 degrees in Gilroy (just 8 miles east) it is a beautiful 75 at Betabel. Be prepared to listen to hwy traffic constantly. Sites are small and WiFi is poor to say the least. Locals who live in the park are a bit strange and the lady with super long hair who works in the office frequently curses people at the top of her lung . Tension in the office between staff members is so thick you could cut it with a knife. I was told more then once "if you don't like it you can stay somewhere else."

We have been going to Betabel RV park for many years and we are never disappointed. Nice sites with trees, tables, etc. We have been able to get treed area on most visits and have avoided the asphalt area. Could be a negative if we ever had to stay in Asphalt area but so far no.Close to Monterey, Artichoke growing area and silicon valley. Nice Mission town of San Juan Batista just down the road with excellent shopping and dining.

Section for short stay all asphalt, few trees. But near free run grass for dogs.
Okay to wash RV, if you don't waste water.
Drive to Monterey/Carmel is long and challenging. Gilroy is not far, has all services.

On arrival we noticed the pool water was green and when questioning to the staff they responded with a statement "this has been this way for a while". Also their was no propane available. These are two reasons that we booked with this resort and were very disappointed to find out the heated pool and propane were not available. Park is clean and a good location right off highway 101.

Upon arrival for long term stay i was put in a row that had frequent electrical outages because of overload. The electrical in the park is out of date. The electricity constantly went out for hours during the hot summer and my family sat in the AC of the car waiting for electricity to be turned back on. Our toy hauler has a generator that needed repair on the inverter, so after a dozen "outages" I got the inverter replaced and then I could keep the camper cooler and the fridge cold by stocking up on gasoline. "what about those who don't have generators to save the food in the fridge?" I was told the price was $850 a month, come to find out they charge an additional $150 per kid! what!?? my kids are not pets people, they are my family! 😒 And, don't even try washing your car, even though everyone else washes their cars and motorcycles those people are "grandfathered in" and you have to abide by the "new" rules set forth last year according to the maintenance man. After all the extra fees for kids, my wife's car parked, and the parks electrical problems we found another RV park and quickly got out of there.

I had the pleasure of staying here for the last 17 months. This place was unbelievably awesome. The Staff is so friendly and always willing to go out of their way to make your stay incredible. There is so much to do here you will never get board. Golf, Basketball, Horse shoes, bocce ball, pool table, swimming pool and much more. I honestly don't understand how this place got even one halfway bad review. Perhaps someone needs to take lesson on how to level their rig. Nonetheless if you are ever in the area I promise you will never find a place as clean and nice as this. There are 2 laundry rooms/ showers/restrooms that get cleaned everyday. Honestly in 17 months I have never seen 1 spec of trash....anywhere. Vicky, Dave,Rochelle and Dave are great hosts and I truly appreciate your hospitality.

We decided to make this our first stop after collecting the RV from San Leandro. It is just of the main road and easy to find. We got a warm welcome and a hand parking and setting up. The pitches are quite well spaced out and set at an angle, this helps prevent you looking straight at your neighbour. There is plenty of trees and landscaping. The facilities were clean with plenty of hot water. We stayed for three night so we could explore the area.

We were planning to stay one night to have a star filled night with a campfire. No where in their literature does it say they are not allowed. The staff were pleasant enough but refused to give any kind of refund. What is camping without the fire? No fun. And no S'mores. Very disappointing.

Betabel is a good location for Gilroy, Santa Cruz and Monterey peninsula. Pull through sites for short term stays are long enough for most motorhomes. Maintenance for this older park is needed for restrooms, laundry and pool area, etc. Park has built an adjacent storage area and solar panels which should generate more income from storage of RV's, boats and vehicles. Hopefully the park will reinvest some profits into upgrading the park. Wifi did not work during our stay, suggest improving or do not offer this service in your list of amenities. Office policy on daily vs. weekly is not flexible. If you do not tell them in advance if you want weekly rate, you cannot convert from daily rate. RVers sometimes have changes in their plans for various reasons and need some consideration. Most parks do not offer a specific space when reserving so we were told we would have to move to another space when asked to stay 2 more days. Again park management was not flexible. Staff should make guests feel welcome and make them want to return and/or refer to friends and other RVers.

We arrived in the middle of the night by car, you can check in on your own, they provide you a map, and some choices of parking.

The parking spaces were clean and had electricity. The bathrooms have a few showers, hot water works great. There is a laundry room where you can also wash your dishes. There is also a pretty big grass area for pets.

Overall the place looked very friendly and inviting, and would definitely go back, it was everything we needed!
