The most disrespectful staff to the clients. They do not answer the phone. The rooms I booked ( 3 rooms) , one had no tv remote control, one had the TV no working and one had a terrible smell of marijuana smoke( into a non smoking room) . I tried to call the lobby and gave up, the front desk guy did not answered. Then I went down to lobby, and nobody there. The bed sheets where dirty, haven' t been changed from the previous occupant . The same with the towels in the bathroom. Some one did not do his/her job. In morning( 8:00am) no coffee , nothing for breakfast, even the breakfast was included in the rate. No one at the front desk to ask for a coffee. But a big label on the window: " if you want to check out, simply leave the key in the room " It was a terrible experience. I will not come back never here.

I booked 2 rooms with this hotel this week for my tenants. I am a property manager. We had to put in new tile in their apartment and they wanted to stay close to their home. SO we went with Best 5 Motel. I did not meet the owner but Mr. Patel was very friendly and was able to do my transactions over the phone and in a very timely manner. He called me several times to make sure all going fine with our tenants. I was even able to cancel the rooms when it turned out the tenants were able to move back to their apartment. This was great because at most hotels if you are past the check out time they charge you no matter what. So Thank you so much to all the staff at Best 5 Motel. Our tenants stated that the hotel was clean and that their stay there was very pleasant.

We booked a room for the weekend at roughly 100$/night, and upon returning to our room on the second night of our weekend stay, found bed bugs easily visible on the bedding of one of our beds. We attempted to resolve the issue amicably, by requesting a refund for our second night, but were refused.
We chose to vacate our room rather than risk being bitten, nevermind the cost and time we have incurred to preventatively decontaminate our luggage and clothing. Management was apologetic, but unhelpful otherwise.
If the photos are approved and posted with this review, they will provide evidence of the bedbugs themselves.

This place is great! Very clean. The couple that run the motel are extremely nice and friendly. Fridge, microwave and coffee all in room. The room was very large and has a big screen TV. If we are ever in the area again, this will be our #1 choice to stay. Priced for affordability. Best hotel for our vacation! Highly recommend for a peaceful night's sleep.

We booked this place 2h before arrival as it was labour day weekend and most of the hotels were already booked in Monterey were we was during our on the road trip.
Once arrived the parking was completely dark, no lights no cars. At the reception there was a thick glass with a space of few mm where to pass docs
Our room was on the side of the building, in the dark, close to the trash bin were we heard people yelling. We were the only tourist, no other cars. The room wasn't very clean. We went eat and decide what to do. When we went back to the car there were a group of people that was following us and we noted there was a barricade tape in the parking. We felt so scared and unsafe that we called the reception telling we would not be back and if was passibile to have a refund as the room was untouched and they could have resell it. The kind guy we met at the reception became rude and unpolite, of course no help by his side only offenses
That was the worst experience we had, not only for the place but for the lack of respect and help.

I went with 2 girlfriends to a California road trip, that was our 3 hotel, I do regret have stay there, the receptionist was ok, but it was like a massive glass in between her and us, that big that a bit concern I asked her how safe was crossing the road to go to the shop to buy dinner, it was literally crossing the road, she very kindly, suggest us to drive, a pit bull was running on his own around the parking and the shop....the shop was also a petrol station, I have been in .rio the janeiro on my own, I full the tank of the car just in case we have to run away, once in the room, that it was not the cleanest, we find out people coming and leaving, making lots of noise, having a fight, is not the place that you want to go if you are a girl .... Honestly, not for families either, just for guys looking for a bit of fun.
We did not sleep at all because of the noise, the doors, and the fight, and look the door and put our bags against it.
I will never go back to salinas, we left and did not stop , very early in the morning, as soon as the sun comes up.
The only good thing in this place was the staff, very kind, even more for the conditions of the place.

We'd like to obtain additional detail regarding your recent stay so I have sent you a private message. It should be noted, that since your stay, ownership and management has been changed, and the property has begun an extensive renovation. We are aware of the issues with former management and have taken the proper steps necessary to assure the finest quality guest experience. Also, there has been a 24 hour watchman hired on duty at all times. This is to assure the safety of our guests and to assure guest receive a quiet night's stay. As for the safety of the City of Salinas and the area, ownership and senior management have lobbied with city officials to increase the level of police presence in the area. Management cannot control the city's image, but we can control our own; and we at Best 5 and corporate can assure you that you will receive a pleasant stay during your next visit with us. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague. I can't say enough bad things about this place. Hmm, where to begin... A friend from Salinas made the reservation because we needed to stay one more night and our hotel was booked. After she made the reservation online, we changed our mind. I called to cancel the reservation. The young lady that answered was totally clueless. I asked to speak to a manager who proceeded to argue with me about canceling the reservation. I had the confirmation number, but he refused to help and asked me what my problem was. The next day, after I calmed down, I tried to call back to speak to the owner or manager before I wrote this review.. The guy who answered the phone was, in my personal opinion, rude. Guess what? No call back. Did I mention I finally cancelled my reservation online, and they charged me $10.00. Talk about adding insult to injury. Oh well. If every hotel was booked in Salinas except this one, I would sleep in my car before I would say here. Do yourself a favor and avoid it like the Plague...

We stopped at this motel after traveling for 14 hours and were plain tired. Wished we could have mustered up a little more energy to look into another hotel. This place is dirty and not in the best part of town. The big tip off should have been the bullet proof glass between me and the hotel clerk upon check-in. We were up early and out of there fast to get on to our destination.

Pulling into the Best 5 parking lot everything was peaceful. It was off the freeway. Well, unfortunately it was at a junction where big rigs were redirecting to another road. Also, there was a dude w/ two others hanging out on the 2nd floor talking all night. I called to issue the problem but he came back.

Stayed here trying to tour California on the cheap. I was looking for budget hotels that were just on this side of police calls. This filled the bill. All I needed was sleep and wifi. Again, this filled the bill.
The pool was "out of order" and looked as if had been for a while. The check-in desk is behind plexiglass. The furniture in the room was random but the bed was clean and comfortable. On a Saturday night, it stayed quiet outside.
