Detailed Reviews
We quite enjoyed our stay at Farmhouse Motel barring a few challenges. It was in an ideal location and beautifully decorated. The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on. The bathroom is a delight, making efficient use of the space and with premium bath products.
The breakfast is lovely and simple. Delicious local croissants and good yogurts. A selection of teas, juice, milk, and coffee.
So what can be done better?
1. There are no quiet hours or if there are, they are not enforced. We stayed in a cottage in the inner ring, facing the main central fire pit, and a group of guests were out past midnight drinking and partying. It was very loud since the cottages offer no sound proofing. The guests also had dogs that did not get along and were barking at each other aggressively for hours.
2. The curtains in the room are sheer and do not provide privacy or light defense. If you want to sleep in, it won’t happen. On the plus side, the rooms are light and bright.
3. I do not know if they allow smoking or if any non-smoking policies are just not enforced, but our neighboring cottage neighbors chain smoked the entire time on their patio and at the fire pit. With the doors shut and the air con on, it’s not noticeable unless you’re standing right by your door entrance. However, if cigarette smoke bothers you, you won’t be able to enjoy your own patio because of smokers.
4. They do not replenish breakfast items. We came into breakfast at 9am and already the baked goods were depleted. We were able to snag a few items but any guests who arrived after 9 were only able to wander over by the continental buffet and make themselves a cup of coffee or pick up one of two remaining soy yogurts.
The front desk lady who checked us in was friendly and warm. The AC is powerful, so needed in the hot summers. Would we stay again? Yes, but we’d ask for a room on the outer ring and we’d bring ear plugs. We would not stay here for their peak $300+ weekend rates but their weekday rates are competitive and worth the spend.

Room Tip: If seeking quiet, get a room on the outer ring away from the central fire pit.

The Farmhouse is a good place to stay but be careful of their pricing policies. The rate advertised on sites like Expedia includes breakfast and WiFi. But when checking out expect a $20 “resort fee” that apparently includes breakfast and WiFi. Careful examination of the reservation-confirming email includes this but read closely.

Thank you so much for your insightful and thoughtful response! We are so happy to see that you enjoyed your last couple visits with us. We try our very best to be transparent with all fees and total costs, that is why you will see the amenity fee of $20 per night when booking on any website, on your confirmation email after booking, and on the terms and conditions when checking in (along with being told about it when checking in). I understand that unexpected costs may be startling and take away from the overall experience, therefore we take your comments very seriously and will continue to strive to be as transparent as possible for our future guests. We look forward to hosting you again sometime again in the future! Please reach out to us if you have any questions that we might be able to assist with.

I can't say enough good things about this cute motel. It is the first time we have ever actually stayed at a motel, we usually stay at more high end resorts. But, this place was so awesome, we would definately stay again. The front desp people are all so very nice. They even offered us umbrellas on a drizzly day. They did an amazing job on the remodle. It has such a cute kitschy vibe but done well and not tacky. The rooms and grounds are as nice and clean as the pictures online. The fire pits all lit up in the evenings is such a nice touch and it was fun seeing people hanging out and chatting around the open fires! The breakfast, although simple, was delicious. They had fresh made pasteries, don't miss out on the almond croissants YUM and they had coffee, juices, good yogurt etc. It is about a 10 minute easy walk into downtown which is nice if you do not want to drive to dinner or have to pay for an uber. We went as a family to celebrate my husband's birthday and had 3 rooms total. We had 2 deluxe king rooms and the farmhouse superior room, which had a small & very private patio for our 2 small dogs. This place is also very dog friendly, you could not tell there were ever dogs there because it was so clean but, it was a major plus for us.

The Farmhouse is highly charming, with many nice simple touches that made us wish to stay another night. Our room had a private patio and fire pit and included a Nespresso coffee maker; one only had to walk out the door to find a very inviting breakfast spread included with your stay. It's an easy walk into town and an excellent base to experience Bruce Munro Light At Sensorio. We loved all the lemon references around the property.

Disappointing Experience at the Farmhouse
I booked the Farmhouse hoping for a charming retreat, but my stay was anything but. Our room was located directly behind the lobby, facing a busy street with a bus stop bench right outside our window, which was less than ideal for privacy and relaxation.
Upon entering the room, we were immediately confronted with mosquitoes and a fly. Given the room’s small size, this made our first half hour a battle against bugs rather than a comforting welcome.
The situation worsened when, after receiving a proactive text from the hotel asking about our comfort, I replied expressing my disappointment—only to receive no response. This lack of follow-up added to our frustration.
Further, a $26 resort fee charged at checkout felt unjustified, as the hotel resembled a renovated motel rather than a resort, with no extra amenities to speak of.
After addressing these issues via email, I was told that the fee was mentioned by the third-party booking site, which I had not noticed. This lack of transparency and communication has left a poor impression.
As a frequent visitor to Paso, I believe there are many superior accommodation options available. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend the Farmhouse.

What a charming place! The reception area is lovingly decorated as are the rooms. There are fire pits everywhere on the property, where you can sit and relax in Adirondack chairs. We booked room 25: a bit more expensive, but it had its own little backyard and fire place: perfect for enjoying some more wine in the evening after touring Paso Robles, plus the bedroom is then essentially insulated against the street noise. You reach it through a wooden door from the patio just outside the reception area. The place is a few blocks away from downtown, which we didn’t mind: we enjoy walking.

This was a serendipity for us. The pictures do not do it justice...it oozes charm even before you enter the room. The front porch tile, the pristine white room and bedding, the heavy linen window coverings, the organic linen throw on the bed, the large woven area rug,..I could go on and on. There are numerous fire pits surrounded by Adirondack chairs and an inviting patio to enjoy delicious croissants and coffee. The staff were all very welcoming. We had an issue with billing which was quickly and graciously solved by the manager. This should be your go-to place when staying in Paso Robles!

What a treat! The “new” Farmhouse oozes charm and comfort, amidst stunning design (throughout the joyful interiors as well as the beautiful gardens), abundant amenities (we will longingly recall those almond croissants in the same breath as any favorite France patisserie!), friendly staff. My new “go to” when visiting Paso - can’t wait to return!

Attention to your hidden credit cards charges ! This motel charged us without any further discussion a 200 USD penalty for smoking policy... this after final check in and without any warning because of possible smoke offense and some detected smell in the room . In spite of our denials ( I had lungs surgery and would not sleep in smoker room!) they did not listen at all . I am still waiting for what they said are evidence of this. I find this ridiculously offending attitude as we certainly did not do anything wrong nor damaged anything.

Hello Trail45901516207, Thank you so much for staying with us. We are so sorry to hear that your stay was less than perfect. We appreciate the chance to continue our previous conversations by reiterating the finding and documentation of evidence of smoking in the room that damaged items in our rooms, and affected nearby guest's stays. We do not like applying fees, but when items get damaged in the rooms, and with the evidence left after your check out, we unfortunately had to apply the smoking fee. We always do our best to enforce our policies in a fair and timely manner to all of our guests to ensure that we create the same, wonderful experiences that our guests deserve. Please reach out to me directly again if there is anything else we can assist with in the future.

This place is a gem. They recently completely refurbished the entire property resulting in very comfortable, up to the minute, nicely appointed rooms. The grounds, though not large, are also pleasant with fire pits situated throughout. Certain of the rooms form a nice cluster allowing friends in neighboring rooms to gather around the fire. Breakfast is plentiful and high quality. The staff is very welcoming to all and, of course, to dogs. Farmhouse is ideally located within walking distance of the Plaza, shops and restaurants. Top notch in all regards I think
