Guests have called out Hyatt Palm Springs for its prime downtown location, yet many find the hotel atmosphere and amenities outdated, with a pressing need for renovation. Housekeeping and maintenance inconsistencies have led to a range of service experiences, from poor to excellent. Spacious suites are a plus, but travelers frequently express disappointment with the outdated and poorly maintained rooms.
Noise disturbances are common, and while the overall cleanliness is satisfactory for some, others note it falls short. Many reviewers warn the hotel is overpriced, particularly given the additional charges and expensive parking fees.

I knew from previous reviews that many visitors are unhappy with parts of the Hyatt - they could definitely step up their game with many easy improvements. First, I did not find the room dated - we were in a cabana suites and I thought the furnishings were very updated. Also loved the room layout - the beverage station and bathroom are in between the bedroom and living room with the sofa bed - you can make coffee and use the bathroom without waking anyone up. That being said, in the room itself there were light bulbs not working, the ceiling fan and light in the cabana did not work and the lock on the patio door was broken and replaced with a metal hook. The pool area has ripped covers and curtains on most of the cabanas and all of the planters around the pool have half dead plants. You can literally burn your hand if you try to use the handrail going into the pool in the afternoon (easy fix with a rubber cover). We did enjoy our stay - the central location is perfect - but some easy fixes could move the hotel up a few notches.

Be aware that there is a $30 per night patrrking fee that is buried a couple layers deep on their website and there is no other place in downtown Palm Springs where you can park overnight so you really have no choice but to pay that if you stay at that hotel. Also the air conditioner in our room made a loud bang every time it’s cycled on and off, which keeps waking you up during the night. We found that the only solution was to turn the air-conditioning down so low that it would not cycle and would just stay on continuously during the night. We know that was just not our room that was doing that because we could hear the room next-door doing the same thing. Also the toilet refilled about every 10 minutes so you hear that at night as well.

Pros: Excellent care from staff at the check-in and assistance counter. Unexpectedly excellent food at the restaurant beside the check-in counter. Good location with a pleasant view from the balcony. The parking valet service was excellent, responsive and swiftly done. It was pleasant to be near a clean, quality casino and their superb steak house restaurant. Room service cleaning was also extremely good. We gave good tips to everyone who helped us (room cleaning staff, parking valet and restaurant staff). Cons: The room A/C was very loud and doubtful that it worked the temperature properly. On March 14th while we were eating breakfast at the restaurant adjacent to the check-in a staff member who was wrapping the silverware in napkins which would be given sometime to diners dropped some silverware on the floor, picked up that silverware and proceeded to wrap that same silverware in napkins. I could only hope that we did not receive those same silverware/napkins when we had dinner there later that same evening.

This is our go to hotel when we visit Palm Springs. You just absolutely cannot get a better location. The accommodations are always clean, the hotel is getting a bit aged though, but all in all, they keep it clean and provide nice big towels, comfortable pillows, good sheets. The wicker in the patio desperately needs to be replaced now. The views on both sides of hotel are incredible. Every Thursday night is the street fair right in front of the hotel which is always an added plus for things to do. Once we park, we never take the car out again until we have to leave.

I booked this hotel thinking it was one of the nicer hotels in Palm Springs given the $325 plus $20 obligatory destination fee (charge separately despite recent changes in CA law) and taxes.
What I got was a hotel in need of a lot of care.
On the way to the room, my first observation was that the hotel was old and the floor was filthy in parts. That was just the start of it: - I stayed for 3 nights and apart from coming to my room at approx 6 pm on the 3rd night while I was getting ready to go out, there was zero room cleaning / maid service despite leaving the room by 1130 each day. - I couldn't use the toilet in the room as the flush was so poor. - The tap in the bath / shower kept dripping the whole time. - The heat / air con unit required to press the button multiple times in order to get it to change by even .5 degrees. Despite trying to change the fan speed, that wasn't going to be an option. - I had to buy water in the overpriced shop in the hotel as the 2 bottles that were left in the room prior on the first day were never replaced. - My friend who had booked a separate room for, dropped something on the floor of their room and on picking it up, noted a half eaten strawberry under the bed (courtesy of a prior guest).
The hotel is in need of some serious work. The location is good but I would recommend staying elsewhere as this place is really not worth the price.

I stayed at the Hyatt Palm Springs for two nights in early March 2024 and I was very disappointed with the quality and service of this hotel. I expected a lot more from the Hyatt brand and the Palm Springs location, but I was let down by the following issues: • The hotel charges $30 per day for self parking, while failing to share there is free parking surrounding the hotel.
• The parking garage under the hotel has a horrible sewer smell that made me sick every time I walked to and from my car. It was unbearable and unacceptable.
• The phone in my room did not work at all. It only made a loud screeching noise when I tried to use it. I reported this to the front desk, but they did not fix it during my entire stay.
• The carpet in my room had obviously been torn sometime in the past and had been patched up with tape. It looked very unprofessional and cheap. I took photos to show how bad it was.
• The night stand in my room had a broken drawer that would not close. It was also taped shut. It looked like they did not care about the appearance or functionality of their furniture. I also took photos of this.
• The rooms are not cleaned unless you specifically request it every day. This is not what I expect from a Hyatt hotel. I want my room to be clean and fresh without having to ask for it.
• The electronics in the room are outdated and the TV service is poor. The TV had very few options, with navigation clearly not uodated in awhile. The remote control was old and dirty. The hotel needs to upgrade their technology and entertainment options.
I do not recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Palm Springs. It is not worth the money or the hassle. The hotel is poorly maintained. The staff are friendly and do what they can, these deficiencies are clearly the fault of poor management at this property. I will not be staying here again.

A very fun, yet relaxing stay. When we arrived we were greeted by friendly valet staff that promptly offered to unload our luggage and park our vehicle. Although there are no EV chargers on site, in the underground parking structure directly adjacent to the property there are a multitude of charging stations for Teslas and all other EVs. We were quickly upgraded to one of the cabana rooms due to our Globalist status and we really enjoyed the easy access to the pool area and our own personal cabana lounge area. The pool deck is modern, clean and well laid out with plenty of games for little and big kids, ample seating, and a very nicely heated pool and spa even in the winter. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant each morning was excellent, with great service. There are numerous bars on the property with friendly staff and great drinks. Near one of the bars directly in front of our room we were able to enjoy live entertainment hosted by the hotel Fri and Sat night (excellent singer). There were numerous fire pits and water fountains throughout, all of which were fully functional that we noticed, as well as a nice putting green. While it's true that the rooms are a bit dated and in need of a quick paint and patch job, ours was exceptionally clean, fully operational, and surprisingly large. Given the proximity to the bustling downtown area, there was a decent amount of noise all hours of the day/night, therefore bring your earplugs or white noise machine if you're a light sleeper. For our family, it was well worth it to be able to enjoy live music each night while being able to walk to the Palm Springs Art Museum, and all the great shops and restaurants in downtown Palm Springs. Our daughters were already asking when we can come back once we packed up our car.

The location is fantastic, however the brand its flying is not even close. This would be a low tier economy brand that needed repairs. Its very sad the ownership is exploiting a good location with high priced in a property that needs significant upgrading and cleaning.
There is little food, the bar was open 3 hours per day 5 pm to 8 pm one day, closed the next. The towels around the pool are bathroom hand towels to lay over the lounge chairs to soak up some sun. I asked for full size towels they told me they have none for the pool.
I consider this property a scam to fleece the unsuspecting public out of high room rates due to the location and when you arrive you find a filthy bathroom that nobody can hardly use, you would never take a bath, the shower was bad enough. I have photos of the bathtub.

Usually Hyatts are a decent brand and better than the average Hilton or Marriott product, but this was definitely a major exception. This was my second stay here and surely will be my last. Can't wait for the Thompson to open up so that I have a decent option in PS that isn't this dilapidated old "motel." Last year the shower was leaking/dripping incessantly, making our room a humid mess. This year, the hottest our shower got was room temperature, which, with the AC running, was chilly. Housekeeping seemed well-set on not giving us service, twice forgetting to service us and only got us partially serviced (basically just towels and made beds) after we reminded the front desk that we were skipped. As an Explorist I normally get daily waters and an upgrade, but the waters were not daily (twice in four days) and our so-called "upgrade" to a pool view had a view of a wall and another building. Apparently, walking to the corner of the balcony and barely seeing the pool counts as "pool view." Also, why is facing the noisy pool an upgrade?? This place is dilapidated, needing a full remodel of the dated design and failing infrastructure. I've stayed at dozens of Hyatts and somehow I've stayed at this nightmare twice, but I don't think you'll catch me back here again!

The common area of the hotel is poorly maintained. The rooms are nice, with all amenities described on their website, but also poorly maintained and not cleaned once during our stay. The views from the back balcony are spectacular; that made our stay worthwhile. This hotel is located on the main street in downtown Palm Springs so it was important to stay in a room with a balcony in the back; this provided a great view from the balcony and also protection from street noise. The pool is lovely, but not kept clean. Bikes w/ helmets are available at no charge, and the staffers who retrieved them quickly upon request were delightfully friendly. Check-in staff consisted of one very friendly young lady and one surly one. We got the surly one who made no effort to provide help in getting our luggage to our room. (No luggage carts, no bellmen.) There are 2 rapid fairly clean elevators, and one dingy and slow service-type elevator to which "surly" directed us; we only learned of the better elevator from another guest. The cost per night is slightly higher than other chain hotels in the downtown, and in our opinion is not worth the difference, especially for a guest who doesn't swim or bike.

Two separate rooms. The outer room has a sofa, coffee table, desk and TV. It has a large bathroom and an inner bedroom with bedside tables, dresser and TV. I would rank the suite as barely average. I will not stay there again. The hotel needs a major upgrade.
Good Day, a cabana suite is a suite on the first floor with easy access to the pool. It is a suite room, and has a cabana connected to the room for easy in and out to the pool deck. These are very popular during pool season.
There are more places to choose from in the Palm Springs area.
