However, concerns about value are common, as guests have called out the resort for overpricing and underwhelming experiences. We had the opportunity to stay at this resort for a few days. There was a conference happening so the hotel was quite busy. We were given a room - that took us abut 10 mins to get to...the farthest room from the main lobby. The room looked pretty dated and I was not happy being so far from everything even though we had requested a mountain view and we had that. So my husband went back the desk and asked for a new room. We were then given a terrible room where the TV was right in front of the drapes. When we pulled the drapes back, we were looking at a parking lot. I was so frustrated so I went back to the desk and I was told, they could not move us again. But then for some reason, she changed her mind and decided to give us a room in the main area - the hallways outside these rooms look down into the main hotel area. We still had a parking lot view but the room was a better location. The room was good - good pillows and comfortable bed. The shower was great - good pressure. But overall, the hotel is looking a bit rough - the furniture is a bit banged up and the rug in the room looks worn.

The next day we went to the pool - we reserved chairs and an umbrella. we were greeted by our server Bianca - she was amazing - friendly and super helpful. She came out with a bucket of bottled water and made sure the bucket was always refilled with Ice. We got a bucket if beer and some lunch and it was really good. The temperature that day was about 110 degrees but the pool was cool and refreshing. Very nice day spent relaxing and looking at the mountains - Yes...I finally got my mountain view.

I made reservations at Mikado - the Japanese steakhouse - Hibachi style. This was excellent - the chef was entertaining and the servers were all very attentive. The food was fabulous and I would highly recommend this for a nice dinner. Check out was fast and easy. The self parking in the parking garage is a bit far from the main hotel area.

We have stayed here a few times but quality and service has significantly deteriorated such that our present stay will be our last.

While facilities may be 5 star, the staff is not. We signed up the kids for bracelet making. We asked a few staff members where it was, all said don’t know, not don’t know but i will find out. When we went to bracelet making, there was no staff there, someone stopped by eventually and cut the bracelet for the kids and then left for the hour so we paid to basically help our kids make bracelets.
The resort was supersaturated , understood for memorial day . so trying to get pool seats next to impossible, which shouldn’t be the case at this caliber
Resort.
Starbucks in the resort had a 45 minute line so we had to leave the resort just for coffee.

You have to request ahead to have your clean roomed even though Covid over. We called a day in advance and it’s already 5 pm and still the room isn’t cleaned and staff is too apathetic to offer any assistance.

Clearly, not a five star experience, plenty of other options in Palm Springs so that we won’t be coming back.

Our kids loved the JW Entertainment Zone at the property. It had a ton of options for both games to play and prizes to redeem the virtual tickets won.

If you call valet before leaving your room to leave the property, they will have your vehicle ready for you once you reach their area.

The sushi bar was amazing and promptly served our order. I ended up waiting on the lobby with our kids for the to-go order and each time they kindly walked it over to me in their own volition.

The hot water for the shower takes well over 10 minutes to help make showering bearable with a decent water temperature. Once the water was hot it didn’t last very long.

It was very difficult to retrieve and replace the ironing board in the clothing closet because there wasn’t enough room put between the ironing board holder and the clothing rack. We almost had to break the holder to properly store the ironing board.

The half basketball court has one net with one small light and no seating for me to easily watch my son with proper lighting. We did appreciate being able to borrow basketballs from the front desk.

Inside the hotel, the temperature is kept too cold throughout the building. Having the cold air (on what seems like high) pumping onto you no matter where you sit was uncomfortable.

Housekeeping doesn’t replenish the number of towel sets for the number of guests staying in the room (we had to keep calling the front desk daily for the correct number of towel sets to accommodate our family).

The second day we were at the hotel they decided to paint outside of the elevator bank on the 5th floor with no warning signage and my skirt was destroyed with their paint. When we called the front desk they told us “okay” with no resolution or acknowledgment of the problem.

The ladies at the boat ride in the lobby would not allow us to pay to ride the boat due to the weather with no rain in the forecast.

Spent three nights with the family at this resort. It is truly a resort with lots of activities, tennis courts, golf, pickleball, pool, mini golf, etc. They also have lawn games available, things like corn hole, frisbees, etc. A lot of things are included in the resort fee, but a lot of things are also not included. Things are expensive, but that is to be expected at a resort like this. We did not have any issues getting lounge chairs by the pool, but we went in December when it isn't hot so maybe people were doing other things. There were signs saying reserving chairs wasn't allowed, which makes me think this is a problem during other times. Overall, my family and I really enjoyed our time there.

A few things that were a bit off. First, there have a boat tour which is $15/person. We didn't do it because it just goes around the property and is pretty short. It was bit shocking to us that it would cost so much. I would think this is something that should be a nominal fee for hotel guests, if any fee at all. Also, there are no EV charging stations in the parking lot unless you valet ($45 for overnight). A bit ridiculous given how popular EVs are in California. It's fine if you want to charge people to use the charging stations, but not ok not to have them available at all. There are also no towel hooks in the bathrooms. I had a large king size room, and there was literally a single hook by the shower. The shower door didn't even have a towel rack and none by the sink. The Rockwood restaurant is where the breakfast buffet is served, but the prices aren't listed until you go to the restaurant and ask, which is annoying. I realize it will be expensive, but it helps to have the pricing listed on the website. It is currently $40 for adults and $20 for kids (11 and younger).

Also, I had a strange charge by the tennis center so I called and asked about it after I had already checked out. The woman I talked to made no sense saying it was because we rented the pickleball courts (which is specifically included in the resort fee - one hour of rental per room). She said it is only included if you just happen upon a free court, but that if you reserve the court, then there is charge. Again, completely wrong and the charge wasn't even for the right amount (rental is $35/hour if you want additional time), and we reserved pickleball courts every single day while we were there and the weird charge was for $9 for one day. I explained how this made no sense, but she kept explaining it to me like I was a little kid that just didn't understand their policy. Other than her, we had great service everywhere we went.

Booked at this hotel solely based on their advertising for a New Year's Eve party. $100 minimum per head. Reserved table for 4. So $400 before I set foot in the hotel. The party was anything but. The band was a slow jazz quintet that was inaudible over the din of conversation. The dance floor was just kids chasing a few balloons and running into our legs, since no one danced due to a lack of any music with a pulse. They projected the reruns of the New York New Year's broadcast, but without any sound, even during the band's many lengthy breaks, so that was meaningless. The smartest people were those in the upper lobby who had the same view of the screens and band, and had the same food and beverage service, without paying the minimum. We quickly realized we spent over $400 to watch bad TV. At midnight they handed out a few lame party favors and bitter, cheap champagne. I contacted the hotel management directly about these issues and requested some level of refund. Of course, no response. In addition to posting this warning, I'm advising everyone I know to avoid this property.

I had heard mixed reviews on the JW so I have to say I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked the hotel. The ground are beautiful. There isn't a bad view at the hotel with all the mountains around Palm Springs.

We had a Griffin Suite which was perfect and so much better for the 4 of us to have a separate bedroom.

I loved the golf, arcade, restaurants, flamingos and so much more. Truly a lovely property. Now for the negatives:

No one ever answers the phone. I tried calling before I came and also while I was there ("at your service" from room) and getting someone to answer was impossible. it should not be that way! When you are paying $800 a night you expect someone to answer a phone.

The room didn't feel clean. I had a friend there as well and she said the same thing unprompted. There was layers of dust, I had an outlet hanging out of the wall, I had peeling ceiling pant which I believe the rooms are newer so not sure why that was happening. When we pulled out the couch the sheets weren't clean and we had to have them changed late at night. Also when we arrived all our toiletries were basically empty.

Pool service was very spotty. One day we had a server who was absolutely amazing. The next day we had a server that was basically non existent and when he was, he delivered our smoothies to the wrong table. 10 minutes after they had been sitting in the sun he went and got them and brought them to me. I said how do you know they didn't drink them, and they are melting...he said they are fine. That was it. He should have immediately offered to have them remade. Also the pool chair situation can be an issue. Get your chairs early.

One more thing was the arcade closed at 7pm on weeknights. There were so many nights we would have gone after dinner but we couldn't. I thought that was odd. I'm sure it would be packed after dinner until 10pm during spring break especially.

Overall I would stay again. But a few things could make this stay more enjoyable.

Amazing property. 5 star potential BUT
we were shocked to see how unkept this resort hotel has become. The pool area , which should be stellar was unclean; and the pools as well as.
And the bathrooms as well. Workers prioritized straightening out poolside chairs rather than mop the
pool areas. AND not keeping the pools clean.

The JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort is large and full of amenities, though it lacks any sort of personal charm. My group was in town for the BNP Paribas tennis tournament and I spent three nights at the hotel in a king room overlooking the pools with the mountains in the background. The hotel was crowded with tennis spectators during this time and we especially enjoyed the complimentary shuttle to and from Indian Wells.

The room was a decent size for two people, though it was quite a hike down the hall to room. Robes and slippers are provided. In the bathroom, there were communal bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion to use during our stay. The lotion was not my favorite as it did not easy absorb into my skin. The other products were fine.

One day we spent by the pool and the service around the pool was very attentive. We ordered both food and drinks, which were all enjoyed. Another day was spent at the Spa, which I recommend visiting. The Spa pool was delightful and again had great service and was much quieter than the main hotel pools. My hot stone massage was great and relaxing. The locker room at the Spa could use a renovation, but this did not impact our group's overall enjoyment.

We had breakfast each morning at the Rockwood Grill. On the weekends, the restaurant gets crowded and there can be a bit of a wait for a table. The buffet had all that was expected, but was not overly extensive. Room service was fast and hit the spot when needed.

Overall, the hotel provided on all the necessities. I would consider staying here again if I find myself in Palm Desert.

From a Titanium member, because we often stay at Marriotts. This hotel caters to large conferences, not to families. During our 3-night stay, which we cut short by one night, there were 2 large conferences that overtook the hotel. On our first night, we were stopped by a staff member at the top of the steps that lead to the Rockwood Grill, where we had dinner reservations later that day, and asked if we were "part of the group." Because we were not, we were not allowed to go down the steps to look at a menu. The front desk staff were consistently rude and unhelpful (with one exception). The concierge was a no-show our entire stay, so we were unable to gather any information about the 2 day trips/activities we wanted to plan. The hundreds of pool chairs are stacked so tightly together that you can't pass through, even though only about 20% of the chairs were occupied. And every chair was covered in bird poop; they looked like they had not been cleaned in a very long time. Ducks swim in the pools, which is kinda gross. If you call from your room because you need something, like additional towels, your call is routed through the same line as people calling from outside the hotel, such as for reservations, and the hold time is very very long. It's actually faster to trek through this massive hotel to the front desk to tell them what you need. Bottom line: This was an awful experience, not at all pleasant for a family vacation, and we certainly will never return to this overpriced hotel. It was a complete waste of money.

JW MARRIOTT DESERT SPRINGS

Stayed here last month with my girlfriends for a birthday celebration girls night out for our girlfriend and it was a blast!
The resort is expansive and has lots of fun things to do as a group, whether it’s for a family or for group of friends, and I’m sure even for intimate romantic getaways to bigger gatherings. It’s a very well managed and maintained resort, the staff were all attentive and professional. I was given an upgrade to our room that had a balcony and suite so it was a blast and we are so thankful for the upgrade!
We had a dinner at one of their restaurants called Rockwood Grill ( we wanted the Japanese restaurant but it was closed at the time we were there) and the food, service and ambience were all top notch! One thing fun that we thought was silky but ended to be fun was to take that little boat ride from the lobby to the restaurant and it made it so much fun and so festive for us girlfriends on our way to the dinner to celebrate our 2 of our girlfriends’ birthdays. We saw some ducks, flamingos and the mountain and desert view made it even more awesome! What a fun thing to do!
The following morning, we had our breakfast which was another great healthy and delicious one because it was a buffet and you had a lot of options to choose- from healthy all the way to the most decadent one you want- and we all enjoyed it and fueled us to go play pickleball at their tennis court then went swimming after at one of their many swimming pools.
Location is great as it was close to everything we needed to go, including Acrisure Arena as we went to see Janet Jackson’s concert as well.
Overall, we had a great time and I am sure I want to be back here again! 5 stars all the way!
