First, there is no valet. Cannery Row is always congested. We pulled in and there were 6 cars parked all around the driveway. Being no valet and knowing where the parking garage is, I unloaded and my wife went to check in as I parked. I got to the garage and you need a room key. Really? There couldn't be a sign or communication about this? Of course they do not employ valet parking people (saving them tons of money) or otherwise this parking problem would not be happening. The front desk person made a joke that I would be back because I needed a room key. Yeah, very funny. Oh, and no housekeeping anymore. But the room rate is still $800 and self-park increased to $34. Of course, they need to charge MORE for parking due to the savings of housekeeping and valet. Just a franchise company that wants to make more money. Hotel groups are going to do this unless the travelers fight back and hard. I will only be staying at hotels that bring back normal hotel services. Oh and the comment from the front desk person was that the no valet was a corporate decision. I find it hard to believe. The Monterey Plaza a block down on Cannery Row has valet and they have had it since October last year at least.So some hotels can do it. I gave a 2 because the room view was great as always. The room was pretty clean, except for the balcony. But, we will stay elsewhere on our next Monterey trip.

ROOMS: We booked two rooms. The first room we booked was Ocean View with balcony for my mom. She was very comfortable and the views did not disappoint. The balcony was just big enough to stand and/or sit with comfort. They have two chairs with a table on the balcony. The chairs are very comfortable. Inside the room was a bed, lounge chair, small table with two cans of complimentary waters. A gas fireplace that turns on with the push of a button and a mini fridge stocked with various types of drinks, Nespresso stocked with coffee pods, tea bags, creamers, sugars and cups, and various snack options on the counter. The bathroom had a walk in shower that was very spacious and a deep soaking bathtub separate from the shower. The second room was a room overlooking Bubba Gumps and Cannery Row. We were pleasantly surprised how well insulated the rooms are, we couldn't hear the noise from even the most busiest time of the day. We were able to open our windows a few inches to be able to enjoy that ocean sea breeze. The room had all the same accommodations listed above in the first room, minus the fireplace and balcony. PARKING at the Clement parking garage ($30 per night): It's important to note that you CANNOT park in the Clement parking garage until AFTER you check-in. You will need a hotel key for access to the garage. Due to Covid restrictions, Valet parking is not available but you are able to park in the turnabout in front of the hotel long enough to check-in, bring the bags to your room and then go park the car in the garage. Valet will direct you once you turn into the turnabout on where to park and help you with any assistance you may need. When you check out, you can get your car from the parking garage, go back to the turnabout and park long enough to load your bags and family. GIFT SHOP: Their is a small gift shop that also includes some various miscellaneous items that you may need like aspirin, sunscreen, snacks, ect. The C Restaurant & Bar: Located on the first floor of the hotel. This place has amazing food and are only open for Breakfast and Dinner. Reservations did not seem necessary for breakfast but if you are wanting a table with ocean view you may want to make one. Reservations are recommended for dinner. You can charge your meals to your room if you want. ROOM SERVICE: Room service is provided by the Restaurant and you can order breakfast between 7-11 a.m. and 5 - 9 p.m. Weekend hours may vary. Gratuity is added to your bill so no need to worry about having cash on hand. CLEANING: Due to Covid restrictions they will not clean your room until after checkout. However you can still request restock of towels and other amenities if needed. STAFF: Our experience with all of the staff was amazing! They were all very helpful and accommodating. Overall we had an enjoyable experience and would definitely stay here again.

We were excited when the Aquarium reopened and planned a weekend getaway. The Clement is the perfect home base. So many restaurants and activities are walking distance. We had an ocean view to enjoy and relax. The king bed is incredibly comfortable. Sound proofing is decent. In room, the bathroom had a shower and separate tub. There is a Nespresso machine and a separate tea kettle. Thank goodness I don’t have to rinse a coffee machine to make decent tea. There’s a mini fridge but unfortunately it’s a mini bar. Would much rather have a fridge to chill drinks. We also requested a rollaway bed. We were impressed that it had a good thick mattress. My daughter slept well. We would absolutely stay here again.

Let me preface by saying i am a hotel snob. We always stay at 5 star hotels only- four seasons, ritz, rosewood etc. Upon researching luxury hotels in the area this was the nicest one. I knew my experience was going to be subpar but it fell way below even normal standards. We have been traveling even during the pandemic and every hotel we have stayed at had housekeeping. We always leave when they are cleaning. There is no housekeeping service here at all! They only drop off items as needed towels, toilet paper etc. They need to at least tell you this when booking or mention this at the front desk upon check in. I nicely piled our dirty towels in the corner of the bathroom and no one picked it up once. The pile grew each day and trash started accumulating and coming back to unmade beds after a long day of exploring is not what I had in mind for a 4 star hotel. Everything is wide open and there is no excuse to not have housekeeping services if you’re still going to charge full price. More CONS- the location is on busy and noisy on canary row. You will hear loud motorcycles and cars zooming by late into the night. The walls are thin and lots of little kids in the building. Our neighbor upstairs was so noisy running jumping every morning starting at 7am! The water smells and it’s loud when the upstairs guests shower or bathe. Some PROS- they room upon check in was clean, the towels are big and thick, the beds were comfortable. We had a fireplace in our room but it shuts off after 10 min. The ac was good and it was quiet! The location can’t be beat we walked to the aquarium, many restaurants, fisherman’s wharf and Starbucks around the corner. There was a bike rental shop near by and we enjoyed riding bikes on the designated path with some really good ocean views!

Been to many Intercontinental hotels and this one sucks; they are not ready for travellers post-pandemic despite the high prices charged, they services provided are similar to a Motel 6 just more expensive. Simply you are not getting your moneys worth, I could not even get a notepad in my room since they had "run out" despite paying over $ 400 per night. I just came back to the room after 4 hours and despite me talking to the front desk about needing the linens changed and towels replaced, the used towels from the morning are still in the bathroom. It's been 1 hour since I called for towels and still no one has shown up. Next time will have to look at other hotels in Monterey.
