This hotel is a solid choice within walking distance to the Sherman Oaks Galleria Mall. In addition, it is a 15 minute walk or 3 minute Uber to many bars and restaurants in Sherman Oaks. It is the closest Marriott property to BelAir. I was unable to use the balcony since the hotel had removed the sliding glass door handle and sealed the door shut for some reason. It has a small outdoor rooftop pool, jacuzzi, and sitting area with tables. It also has a small gym with 2 treadmills and 2 elliptical machines. Onsite parking costs $21 a day. The salmon in the ground floor restaurant was good.

We stayed a week at the Courtyard by M. Because we are Bonvoy members and this hotel is just 5 minutes from our son’s apartment.

First the positives:
Great location
Very friendly and helpful staff!

Not so positive
Housecleaning did not replenish toilet paper or Kleenex. We had to go to the front desk to get more. This is definitely not an attribute of a quality hotel.

No discount for parking. Staying 7 nights should have warranted a reduction on the $22/night cost (about $30 Cdn - ouch).

Server got our Starbucks coffee wrong two days in a row. First time, I asked for grande cappuccino and got venti. Second time, we received a latte with cow’s milk instead of almond milk. The result wasn’t fun due to lactose intolerance.

Lastly, the bed was old and soft. A hotel likely doesn’t want to be known for giving their clients sore backs.

We stayed at this hotel so that we could be near UCLA in the morning. The hotel has been recently renovated and for the most part seems very nice. The room was a good size with a sitting area. The bathroom is very nice after the remodel. See the photos of the shower and vanity which were both very updated and nice.

There’s a small restaurant downstairs where we had breakfast. (See menu photo). The prices were standard Los Angeles breakfast prices and the breakfast was nice, fresh and tasty. The staff was nice, friendly and accommodating.

The only thing that would not allow me to give this place a five star was that even though the property was nice and new, the sheets on our bed were old and very scratchy.

Another thing that was somewhat annoying was that the parking garage had insanely tiny
spots ( see photo ) and at times it was very difficult to navigate through the garage because it was so narrow.

Since my elite status "guarantees" room upgrade (including suite rooms) when available, I asked if there was room upgrade was available. I was told that my room was upgraded to the one with sofa bed. I asked if suite room is available and was told that it wasn't. Later I realized that what I paid for was the room with sofa bed. I also confirmed that a suite room was available to book meaning it is available. I went back down and asked why I was told it was upgraded when it was the room I paid for. I was told that they "meant" my room was upgraded to a higher floor although there is no price difference. I don't think this counts as an "upgrade." I was told that upgrade means "nicer" room and as higher floor is considered nice, it was an upgrade. I asked why I was told that suite room is not available when the website says it is and was told those won't be cleaned for 24hr due to COVID policy. This doesn't make sense as if it was truly unavailable to follow that policy, it would not be available to be booked on website.
Being lied at my face twice and keeps coming up with nonsense excuses are appalling.
Additional minor issues that normally I would pass on but since the experience started with such foul manner, I will go ahead and list:
- receptionist forgot to program my key with parking features and had to come back down to get a new key. When I said I will come and get new keys, she says "sure, don't worry about it." What? What should I worry about? You say "I apologize for the inconvenience" not "don't worry about it."
- malfunctioning light in bathroom: have to hit several times till it works
- malfunctioning TV: goes on mute for no reason. turns itself off for no reason.
Very disappointing stay.

i was very disappointed in this hotel and it is not a good example of the Marriott brand that i am accustomed to. i chose this hotel bc it is a Marriott and the pics on the website looked very good.

Indeed the lobby and rooms were very nice and decorated beautifully. However, the front of the hotel that is Marriott's own property was filthy, with litter and stains in front of the front door. not a welcoming sight. my ac was very loud as well.

worse thing was they are the only hotel i have stayed in during covid (i have stayed in 16 due to my job) that did not even have coffee in the lobby. front desk said we could use the coffee in the room that course had powder for cream and taste awful. Staff was using covid as an excuse for not serving coffee but they could have even had some coffee delivered. will not be staying at this hotel again

I rented two rooms: One for me and my wife and one for my daughter and our grandson. Our room ran out of toilet paper and they charged us $22 per day per parking. The parking garage was very small and we were not told that we be paying for parking when we paid in advance. The staff was not very friendly, instead, it was just business as usual.)no real customer consideration). Pool was closed. Due to Covid-19 (so they say). The rooms really didn’t meet the standard cleaning of the types that I would consider normal to most Marriotts. There were just so many wrongs with this place, that I have chosen not to list.
They drop the services but they did not drop the price and that really bothers me.

This property is unsanitary. Common areas are simply not being cleaned. This includes the fitness center, hallways, elevators, parking garage and restrooms. The ownership is clearly putting profit above the comfort and safety of the guests and is denigrating the Marriott brand. If you have a choice, and until management rededicates itself to cleanliness and a good guest experience I would avoid this property.

Stayed at this location for the first time last week at the recommendation of some locals. Stayed for 3 nights, was in 3 different rooms, due to water leakage from the shower into the first room, then through the wall and into the second room. Finally got to a better room on night number 3, but that took way too long, Not impressed, and even though I will have to go back to Van Nuys, I will not stay at this location again.

This is a Marriott so you’re getting all the basics that you need but don’t expect anything fancy. The pool is nice and there’s a small gym. Location is pretty bad so unless you need to be in this area you’re better off going somewhere near the attractions.

This Marriott property is in a great location for the northern part of LA or the San Fernando Valley.

The staff was nice and friendly and I was put on the PH floor which was nice and quiet. I’m a titanium member.

The main reason for rating is the bed is old and needs replacing! When we (wife/I) were in middle of the bed there was a big sag. We couldn’t sleep next to each other in the middle since the bed was too saggy and you can’t lay flat. I told the front desk in the morning but was given a day of parking but no other mention like, “thank you, I will make a note if that”. I got the feeling that they already knew this a don’t care.

We had early morning meeting so were only in the hotel about 9 hours total. I would not stay again unless I read beds were updated.

The breakfast downstairs was good and reasonably priced. I had eggs/bacon/English muffin.
