Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Every month I stay at this hotel for several days. The rooms furniture are dirty, the beds needs to replaced and overall cleanliness needs improvement. However: Anthony from the front desk and the night shift manager are AWESOME!!

When booking online through their website, it was indicated that there was a continental breakfast. However, when arriving they said they did away with it a month ago but it was still advertised. The office was closed when we checked out and I specifically asked and the front desk attendant told me that they were 24-7.

We have a son at USC and have become frequent travelers to LA. We have stayed here, at the Radisson, and the Wilshire Grand as well. This is a budget hotel, motor court style, with decent beds. Fine Coffee shop, The Grinder, at the front. LAPD eats there alot and it is kinda nice having the police cars parked out front. Minimal continental breakfast offered- rolls, bagels, coffee, sunny delight.. You can walk to lots of other inexpensive resaturants both chain and locally run. Pool in the center adds a bit of charm. You are in the big city and will see street people that won't hassle you. It is a quick walk to USC. Football fans stay there on game days. There is such a lack of hotels near to USC that if you want to stay close to USC and the Radisson is full, you can at least have more money in your pocket for other fun things if you stay here. The desk help was professional. There is a computer terminal in the office, which is handy. Parking is free- a LA rarity.

My friends and I booked rooms for about 10 nights particularly to attend a Festival at USC. We were very determined to fly from the other side of the globe so we booked at non-refundable rates. Owing to uncertainties brought by the coronavirus, I made inquiries via email to the only email address available (which was the Manager's email) but there had been zero response, not even an acknowledgment. The Festival and the campus and LA itself eventually shut down and we had to cancel our trip. I made inquiry again for flexibility dealing with our cancellation. Staff on the phone was not quite helpful, and like before, no one replied emails. It's a huge loss for us and when the Festival is held again, we'll definitely not book this hotel. Attention, not to say help, was simply unavailable.

The location of the USC Vagabond is the only reason we stay there. The quality of the rooms has been an epic fail for over the past 20 years. Totally inconsistent with the rising rates over that period of time. The accessible room was spacious and suitable for our needs but the peeling nasty plaster on the overhead shower wall was a nauseating turn off! Kept looking up to make sure no goo or plaster would sap off on my head or body. Yuck! Then to top it off, we were startled awake by what we were told to be corporate's decision to have a jackhammer like machine outside the rooms pounding and hammering away just before 7 a.m. that morning!
Unbelievable.

My husband decided to book a room for our anniversary, the event was close by, pictures looked nice, rates were very reasonable. When we arrived the girl at the desk Kila was helping another guest. We noticed her responses and attitude towards them were very rude, which alarmed us because we also had questions and also had arrived a touch early. Sure enough she was just as rude and condescending to us. After We checked in we also had a heat issue, we were told by her they turn off automatically. We tried everything and never got the room warm, Instead of dealing with Kila again, who made us feel even dumber about the heater, the heater that never worked! This young lady was definitely operating on here own. Everyone one else there was very nice. We finally just decided to deal with it. I guess you get what you pay for! The rooms are decent for the price, no heat, but decent.

My daughter and I stayed here prior to her job at one of the museums before she moved to a USC campus apt. The hotel is walking distance to USC as well as University Village. The check in clerk was efficient, no-nonsense. The rooms are clean, but the carpets were old. If you have a lot of bags, try to get a ground floor room because there is no elevator and you have to lug everything upstairs. The first night we were here the hotel was full of kids going to a ball game so it was kinda noisy, but that was okay with us. There was a homeless man with a bicycle next to our room and the manager/security persons told him to leave. The diner on premises gave bad service, but perhaps it was a bad day for the girl. LAPD (Police) eat there every morning & we found that to be reassuring. The grounds have pretty flowers with a pool next to the parking lot. But the overall cleanliness on the ousdie fo the hotel needs work. All in all, an okay place for the $ if you're on a budget.

This hotel has a vintage look that offers that old-fashion service that is very rare now a days. At the front desk, Jessica (Hotel staff) greets you with a smile. She makes checking in & out a breeze. She's very nice, helpful & makes you feel at home. The rooms are extremely clean from top to bottom. The housekeeping service is excellent & do a great job by making sure guests have a clean comfortable room but also all of the necessary items like towels, shampoo, hand lotion, soap..etc. Breakfast is provided by the hotel. And you are greeted with a friendly Good Morning smile from Ricardo (Hotel staff) who makes everyone coming in for breakfast feel at home. It's little things like this that make guests want to come back and should never be over looked by management. My 3 day stay was very quiet & comfortable. I will make sure to recommend this hotel to my friends & family. The GREAT service and friendly staff is what makes me come back.

We have stayed at another hotel which is within walking distance of USC, but this property is much better located. The motel itself has great service, has very comfortable beds, and an adequate room for the cost.

I already made reservations when I come back for February - 2 months away.

It's a fine location just off campus... at night campus security is close at hand. Stayed here 5 times once for an entire week, it's always been great. School isn't in the best neighborhood but security is great!

Supply and demand. There are only two hotels within walking distance of USC. Stay at an outlying hotel and drive in or choose one along the Metro line or rent a private home on Airbnb.
