From The Tower, built in 1927, where Gable and Lombard lived, to The Cabanas, vintage 1950s, where Marilyn Monroe lived, guests have two distinct accommodations options. The Tower has undergone a 25 million dollar renovation designed by Yabu Pushelberg. The Tower rooms have larger work desks and are suited for guests traveling on business or with families. The Cabanas are just footsteps from the renowned David Hockney pool and the Tropicana Pool Cafe. The Cabanas are suited for guests looking for an entertaining and lively Hollywood experience.

The Hollywood Roosevelt hotel captivates guests with its blend of historical charm and modern comfort. While its prime location is lauded for easy access to nearby attractions, some visitors warn that the room sizes and upkeep fall short of expectations. Despite the praise for clean rooms and a vibrant atmosphere, concerns about noise and the perceived high cost, including parking and resort fees, are recurrent.
Service receives mixed reviews, with the staff's friendliness countered by occasional communication issues. Amenities like the iconic pool are popular, though some suggest improvements.

Detailed Reviews

We just stayed at the Hollywood Roosevelt for the first time to attend an event at their lovely Blossom Room. Given we are in the heart of Hollywood, we were unsure of what to expect and had some concerns about noise. Â
We ended up having a wonderful time. This historic property has been thoughtfully updated in key areas while retaining it's original beauty and glamour.
Our room was particularly nice - a quiet corner overlooking Hollywood High School. The walls and doors are well constructed so we didn't hear any noise from neighboring room or floors above. Even traffic noise was minimal, which is impressive given the central location.Â
Lots of little touches stood out for example freshly brewed, delicious coffee at 25 Degrees - something many hotels, regardless of category, now charge for.
Special thanks to the team for making our stay exceptional! From the moment we arrived, Mark greeted us warmly and helped with our luggage while we checked in. Chinelle at the front desk welcomed us like old friends and went the extra mile to find us a quiet room.Â
Blake answered all our questions at checkout and made our departure smooth. Rocco at the bell hop station was friendly and engaging. Throughout our stay, the dining, housekeeping and pool staff made us feel that our needs were important to them. I highly recommend The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

Hotel's Favourite
5 night stay over Christmas with my family - 2 adults and 2 kids.
A very enjoyable stay with a couple of minor glitches, but nothing to stop it being a 5 star review.
Staff were *excellent* throughout, especially Chinelle who was just so thoughtful and highly professional. Concierge Nicolas highly knowledgeable and supportive. The valet guys were, I think, the best we’ve ever experienced.
The room was sizeable and comfortable. The children were very happy in the double sofa-bed. Main king bed was very good. Shower pressure excellent.
Location is first rate, you can get everywhere very, very easily.
Minor quibble is that there appears to have been some cost cutting by management in recent times and there is a bit of a nickel and dime approach - for instance there are no coffee machines or kettles in rooms unless you specifically ask for it. When we requested it the hotel was happy to provide it (after trying to sell us on room service instead) - but this is really not the sort of thing you should have to ask for in a high class hotel. With the amount we are paying, a 50c cup of coffee really should not be something you have to go out of your way to ask for. To be fair to the staff they seemed a little embarrassed at the issue and explained that they had told management about this feedback a number of times.
Technology is good - resort fee included WiFi and the TVs are well equipped with chrome cast and streaming services, so if you want a lazy morning in front of the TV you are well served.

The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel is one of the gems in downtown Hollywood. This grand dame, built in 1923, still scrupulously maintains its elegance, perhaps getting better with age. The interior design and architecture is Spanish mediterranean; the rooms are efficient Modern. The bathroom in our room had unique tiling reminiscent of Escher and a large walk-in shower. Bed was fine and TV was actually too large?!
We ate at the main restaurant, Shirley Brasserie, which although sharing the name with the eponymous Shirley Temple cocktail (which was invented there), is an entirely adult dining experience and deserves its own review.
The staff was attentive, and rescued a jacket I had left when we checked out. Some were acting in a docent role and at the drop of a hat were more than willing to explain the history of the place, including the Blossom Room which hosted the first Academy Awards in 1929.
You can avoid valet parking for the more affordable public parking garage next door and there are places to get breakfast within close walking distance. Our main regret was the Spare Room being closed during our stay, but everything else was top notch, including the Shirley Temples we had in the Lobby Bar. We also missed the ginormous outdoor pool, but given it was November, we were probably wise to hold off. The Hollywood Roosevelt was not cheap, but not wildly expensive compared to other much less interesting hotels in the vicinity. If you were staying in or near Hollywood, I would at least price check the night against your options. You might be pleasantly surprised.

After checking in on the way to our room, I knew this was the hotel for me - arriving at the room confirmed this.
The hotel bleeds nostalgia, with it's dark wood and tiled floors and walls littered with pictures of film stars of the past, and old type lifts.
I was looking for a hotel with some history, not a modern boutique accommodation and the Roosevelt delivered.
Situated on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and with restaurant and bar,, it also has a burger bar attached which is amazing.
Our corner room had 2 windows and a wooden floor, the beds were very comfortable and the separate bathroom( I say that as some are now open) had a shower and toiletries. There was a very well stocked in room bar and room service was both efficient and reasonably priced. Given the wooden floors, we didn't hear any other guest during the night - we were on the 7th of 12 floors.
Staff were very generous when they knew we had a birthday in our party, and were consistently helpful throughout our stay.
The room and bathrooms were very clean and we had housekeeping every day.
Ubers were very easily accessible at the hotel.

I found the Roosevelt to be high in elegance. It is in a great location. The staff were incredibly friendly and hospitable. Even the cleaning staff greeting you in the hallways were so friendly and helpful. Some issues though. I found the lack of lighting on one side of the room to be annoying with only the desk lamp. There wasn't any tea/coffee available in the room so we had to ask for a kettle and milk, having our own tea/coffee, and being charged $4 for milk plus $4 for delivery of the milk. The lack of explanation of the incidental fees. This should be something brought to the guest attention. Ordering food in the Lobby, staff were inflexible to change, eg salad instead of chips.

beautiful hotel. Very secure. Large room and bathroom. Very comfortable. Beautiful swimming pool area and large pool. The people were all very attentive and nice. Some things to note: we were in the old tower. It has been remodeled and they did a great job on the rooms. There aren’t many plugs in the room, however. The bathroom lights are on a motion sensor and went off during showers. They keep $150 for amenities that is returned sometime in the next 21 days if not used. Valet parking is $55 a day. You can’t use a luggage buggy on your own, so you need a bellboy to take your bags to your room. The entrance is right on the Hollywood Stars and across the street from the Chinese Theater, so you are in a perfect spot. There are stores all around the hotel allowing you to purchase whatever you like. Enjoy your stay!

Everything is absolutely amazing except for the rooms, which are tiny. Also, the fan didn't work in the bathroom and the sink was backed up. And the A/C clicked on and off sporadically, so I woke up hot & sweaty several times during the night. BEWARE--the beds in the double rooms are not queen-sized, they are full sized. So, do not expect to be able to share a bed with anyone in those rooms. The pool area is hiply designed, has fun/party (but not obnoxious) vibes, DJ's, friendly/helpful staff bringing outrageously expensive (and delicious) drinks & food. The bottom of the pool was apparently painted by David Hockney. The big lobby (where the bar is) is breathtakingly beautiful. There is a fabulous, "secret" bar upstairs that has a 2-lane bowling alley and has a cool, vintage vibe. It's LA, so expect to pay a premium price for everything (though they do offer free coffee 7-9am daily). There is a public parking lot across the street, which seemed like a cheaper alternative to the valet service, but was told the lot is locked at a certain time at night (not sure how accurate that is; we ended up just paying the $70/day valet). Note that this is (for better or worse) right smack in the middle of the touristy chaos of Hollywood (Walk of Fame, etc).

Hotel chosen for its history and its location (opposite the Chinese Theater and a stone's throw from the subway which serves Universal City and Downtown LA!). Unfortunately, apart from its prestigious history which attracts many visitors, particularly during its "events" and evenings, this hotel does not have much going for it: small, old rooms, if not dilapidated (we are led to believe that we preserve an old character, to hide the fact that we refuse to invest in a quality renovation); in the tiny bathroom, the bathtub is so old that it is yellowish because all the enamel has been gone for a few decades already; the parquet floors deserve to be sanded and varnished; as a cover, 2 dusty carpets (probably not often washed) cover most of them. The cleanliness of the bathroom leaves something to be desired.
As for the service, there are none of the little touches you usually get in a hotel of this standard. The staff is only there to sell you very expensive extras. And we barely tolerate simple hotel guests in the evening when there are private receptions (access to the elevator is then prohibited and they are asked to take the back staircase!).
In short, to be avoided, because the quality-price ratio is more than mediocre.

Stayed at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in early October to attend a Premier across the street at the Chinese Theater. The room was nice, the lobby and pool bars were both good, and the restaurants attached to the hotel or in the hotel were good. Location is fantastic right on the strip. Easy to walk to everything. We had a great time poolside too. Private and classy.
One of the main reasons I wanted to write this review is the great service provided by the staff and especially "Stephanie" at the front desk. I left a phone charger in my room when I left and she went out of her way to retrieve/find it working with Housekeeping and then insuring it got sent to me in the mail. She was very helpful, had a great attitude and communicated with me through the whole ordeal.
Thanks "Stephanie L" !!!!!!!!!! - I really appreciate it.

My wife and I booked this hotel for our anniversary trip and we were underwhelmed. The location was great but that's about it. We had a King room and it was very small. There was no dresser in the room and the drawers on the side tables barely held our socks. The closet was small so we had to drape pants over a chair and stack clothes on a small shelf and safe in the closet.
For me the most surprising thing was there was no coffee available at the hotel until 6:30 A.M. I am an early riser and I couldn't believe this. A small single serve coffee maker in the room would have made a big difference. There is a coffee shop right across the street but they didn't open until 5:30 A.M. Coffee is the one amenity every hotel should have even if we have to pay for it.
The hotel rate seemed very reasonable for our location until we realized there was a "Destination Fee" and parking was $65.00 night...yes $65.00 per night.
Well we tried it but never again.

Dear Joseph, It is always disappointing to know we have let a guest down, and we are sorry to learn that you and your wife felt underwhelmed by your anniversary stay. We have noted your desire for coffee service earlier in the morning, and we are sorry you were not aware of our standard destination fee and parking fee before your arrival, as we strive to ensure this information is transparent on our website. We wish you and your wife the best, and we hope you find just the right accommodations for your next anniversary celebration, even if it is not with us. Kindly, Don Jacinto, Managing Director

There are no coffee makers in the room. If you want a cup of coffee, you can either go to the coffee shop in the hotel or walk 2-3 blocks for a neighborhood coffee shop.
The pool view would be best. You are in Hollywood so you have already agreed to be in a high noise area. If you need quiet, you have to book else where. At the Roosevelt, the pool is very nice and its better than looking at the alley or the blvd with floods of tourists. It's pretty good at masking noise in general because it is an older building with heavy materials not like the paper walls of the new construction places. I hope this helps. If you want quiet, book a place in Malibu. That's quiet and you can see the stars in the sky and likely more actual movie stars on the street. In Hollywood, you will see mostly fun sites and lots of tourists.
