Hotel June West LA is frequently lauded for its strategic location near LAX, beaches, and attractions, making it an excellent choice for various travelers. While some guests have praised the hotel's clean rooms and modern amenities, others have called out the rooms for lacking adequate storage and effective darkening during sleep, with noise levels being a concern for some.
The hotel's atmosphere and lively pool area with DJ entertainment often receive positive remarks, but the additional fees, particularly for parking, have led many to question the overall value of their stay. The service is typically described as friendly and professional, especially the valet staff, although a few travelers report mixed experiences with the front desk.

If you’re familiar with the LA area then this hotel is located where the old Custom hotel use to be. This new hotel is beautifully renovated and is in a fantastic location. It’s in walking distance of great restaurants like Cinco and is right next door to Ralph’s. So you have easy access to food & drinks. The hotel has an amazing restaurant inside but I was unable to try it due to it being closed because of COVID restrictions.
I visited here for a staycation during the New Years weekend. I felt very safe. There are hand sanitation stations in front of the elevator and front entrance. The elevator was always downstairs waiting for me and only 1 guest went in at a time. There are 3 elevators. Check in was seamless and can be contactless if you download the Proper app prior to your arrival. My room had a sticker on it blocking the key hole to tell me that my room had been sanitized and no one had been in it sense then. The room smelled clean and was clean of course when I walked in. The bathroom shower was really nice and I loved the high end/non toxic toiletries. The bed was comfortable enough but just basic bedding. I liked that there was a small little table in the room with a cute cactus and vibrant photos to add some character to the room.
As far as amenities go, most of theirs are closed at the moment. They have a beautiful pool and bar area “the caravan swim club” that I wish I could have experienced. They also have cute bikes for rent. You’ll have to valet your car for parking and they fee will be charged to your room. There is a gym on the 2nd floor that you can reserve to use for an hour. That was an awesome surprise! Just ask the person at the front desk for a reservation.
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Excellent customer service. I only gave the resort at 4 because although it was very comfortable and clean, I wouldn’t consider it to be a luxury hotel to my standard. I would want a fancier bed and a more spacious room to give it a 5. But again that’s just personal preference based on other places I’ve stayed. I would stay at Hotel June again and looking forward to the restaurant and swim club re-opening.

At first we were very unhappy with our view because we had paid extra for a coastal view. It was very foggy that day so there was no view. The front desk switched our room with no hesitation so that we would have a better view!
Upon departure, I realized left a couple of very important items in my room. Alex at the front desk was SO helpful and was very proactive in making sure that I got my missing items back and assured me that if they were not found in that moment they could ship to me! He gave me reassurance by doing everything in his power (contacting housekeeping/maintenance etc.) in the moment to make sure I left with my lost items in hand and sure enough I did! I would definitely come back and stay here! Thanks again Alex!

My family recently did a staycation at Hotel June. We had the best time! The rooms are clean and have exactly what you need without being cluttered. The beds are so comfortable and the amenities are really nice. Views of both ocean or city, can't go wrong either way.
The pool isn't huge but perfect for soaking and relaxing and the lounge chairs are the perfect size.
Then the food... OMG the food is incredible!! Perfect for people with food sensitivities or vegans as well as people who love meat! The cauliflower nachos are insane and we ordered them about 3 times. We didn't have a bad meal and even the kids meals were perfect and they didn't leave anything left on their plates - which they typically do. The cookies and the tropical tarte are the perfect dessert to finish with. Delicious cocktails too!
The staff is incredible. What a friendly, hard working and genuine group of people. Every single person made sure we were well taken care of at all times, they wanted to make sure our stay was perfect and they could not have been nicer. Throughout our stay my husband and I commented on how amazing the staff was. Priscilla, Stephane and Steve were all so personable and have done an excellent job, along with the rest of the staff, to make Hotel June a special, little gem. I have already booked my next dinner reservation and will for sure be a frequent visitor.
Also, in regards to COVID, they were diligent in following protocol and kindly reminded anyone not wearing a mask to put one on. If someone didn't have one they provided masks.

Nice little boutique hotel with great design but, for the moment, more cons than pro, so if you’d like an efficient though less pretty place to spend the night by the airport, you might have to go elsewhere for now.
PROS
The hotel design incredibly aesthetic (as expected being the little sister of the Proper).
Aesop skincare in the shower (shampoo, conditioner and body wash) but strangely enough they didn’t install the locked dispensers by the sink to have both hand wash and lotion so there’s a tiny random bar soap and the Aesop body balm just in top of the sink.
Food at the Caravan Swim Club (poolside open air restaurant and bar) was great and the service was spot on and friendly.
CONS
No one ever answers the reception when you call. I resorted to text messaging but even that took ages (over 10 minutes) to reply to any inquiry or request.
This is an airport hotel which means guests are passing through and will probably have suitcases (large and small). We ended up stacking our suitcases on our own in the lobby with the receptionist watching but not offering any help and struggling to roll the wonky cart into the lift.
Breakfast is a bit chaotic - they are obviously understaffed and have one cashier/order taker who then has to tell the busboy which person ordered what. The service staff were helpful and friendly though, they just need help.
Reception was the weakest link at the hotel for not answering the phone and for having just one person to deal with the guests questions.
The daily $15 guest amenity fee for “Wifi and pool area” is an unnecessary hidden charge that pads the final bill. This isn’t a proper resort hotel so charging your guest an extra $15 plus all the other different CA taxes and fees raised the room rate from $225 for a basic standard king room to $283.87 per night - very steep for an airport hotel and priced out of all the other ones nearby which also have a free shuttle.

Dear Gourmet T - What a detailed review - and I love the praise for our team at Caravan Swim Club! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. The labor shortage within the hospitality industry is no secret these days, and we are doing our best to keep up while actively recruiting for more rockstar colleagues. We know they are out there! Our goal is to have no call go unanswered, and no guest request go unfulfilled. The Guest Amenity Fee allows us to not impose additional charges for requested services & amenities and WiFi. Our aim is to avoid guests racking up individual fees (exceeding $15), and rather charge a simple nightly fee - comparable to most hotels with our offerings. As we work to improve our service, I hope we will welcome you again the future. Carly

It was quiet on the property, understandably due to the global pandemic. The lobby was the most impressive element of Hotel June which I imagine is a great welcome for anyone checking in, especially those who have just flown into LAX. I have noticed an uptick of hotels focusing their energy on the design of communal spaces, particularly the lobby, with the hopes of providing instagrammable moments for their guests. I support this shift if it also means that hotel rooms mirror that same energy, but more often than not, hotel rooms are becoming increasingly underwhelming and lacking in the high design apparent everywhere else on the property. I observed that at Hotel June.
Hotel June refers to itself as a boutique hotel but unfortunately, there are no robes, slippers, or special amenities inside the rooms. The toiletries looked dated. Nonetheless, the property absolutely nailed it with their choice of mattress in the room which is the most important part of any stay. They made the right investment here and I can promise a good night’s rest. After a day in the sun, crips white sheets chilled by air conditioning feel like perfection. We stayed in a corner standard king city view which was dead silent, it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The rooms are clean, modern, and bright albeit underwhelming. If you are looking for a safe place to rest your head this will do.

Dear NJINLAblog - I wish we could have gotten at least one more star from you! It sounds like overall you had a great stay, and with a few improvements to our amenity offerings (which we are in the process of implementing), we would have knocked it out of the park. I hope to welcome you again so you can see for yourself the changes made! Carly

I was very disappointed upon arriving that the "King Coastal View" room I paid for was actually a tiny room with a view of a large parking lot. Also, room service was not in operation due to Covid... so I tried to order some water to the room through DoorDash and had to physically go downstairs to retrieve it. I made dinner reservations for Caravan Swim club and asked for a bottle of champagne where it asked for special requests - that never happened. Also put the signage on door stating I would like housekeeping to turn over sheets/towels - also never happened. Anytime we called the front desk we were abruptly hung up on. Poolside drink service was extremely slow. I sincerely felt I overpaid for the overall mediocre experience and would have enjoyed my weekend better at home, unfortunately.

After the last few months , I was desperate for a change of scenery, but at the same time nervous at what to expect when going to a hotel during a pandemic . I finally pulled the trigger and booked Hotel June and it did not disappoint . It was the perfect LA staycation for the weekend .
From the second we arrived we were greeted so warmly by the valet staff and the hotel manager, along with the staff at check in. It was such a lovely welcome and I was really happy to see temperate checks being done when entering the hotel and all staff in masks and sanitation stations located over the property.
The hotel is a super cute boutique hotel with a Palm Springs style vibe ( minus the crazy heat which I was super grateful for :) )
The pool area was gorgeous and the service by the pool was great, not only with food and beverage, but also just the general checking in from staff to make sure we had whatever we needed and constant top ups of water brought to our sun loungers.
Situated above the pool area is the caravan swim club restaurant which is all outdoor seating and overlooked the pool . Wow! The food and drinks were amazing - to the point that at each meal, my husband and I were already planning what we would try for the next meal .
Mexican inspired but with a real Californian twist - everything was presented and plated so beautifully and tasted amazing with majority of the produce coming from the local farmers market which we loved .
The avocado toast and the shrimp tacos are must tries.
Even if you are not fortunate enough to stay at the hotel it’s definitely worth checking out the caravan swim club for brunch or dinner ( but be sure to book) , you won’t be disappointed :)
Thanks so much for a fabulous stay Hotel June , we look forward to coming to visit again soon :)

I stayed here for one night in between destinations (coming from Mexico and en route to Joshua Tree). For my specific stay, it did its job.
Room was ample for 1-2 people and the rate was reasonable. They recently redid the hotel to a more hip design. Be aware though that this is def not the same standard as The Proper; this is the budget version. As such, you will see certain details (corners of carpet, molding, etc) not as clean or perfect as in high-end hotels.
There is no room service but an on-site restaurant with decent food and drinks that you’ll have to walk outside the main building and onto the pool area to get to. Pool area is also hip with fun music.
Also convenient is that there is a Ralph’s right beside it.
Probably better for a younger crowd and nota family or more mature folks. Given the proximity to LAX and the room rates, treat this as a much better option to the grungy hotel airport chains. If you use it as a transit hotel, not a destination, I think you’ll have a good time.

We absolutely loved our stay at this pretty hotel. We stayed here during March 2021, on spring break for a few nights on our California get away and were so impressed with everything at the Hotel June. My daughter goes to school in California and we try to go on spring break together to a different spot every year. Obviously we couldn't last year due to Covid, so we wanted to make this year (our last) really special. Hotel June was the last leg of our 8 day trip and I am so happy we spent it here. The rooms were spotless, beds and pillows like a cloud , bathrooms gorgeous with beautiful smelling shampoo and shower gel that we actually used!! The décor in the lobby and throughout the hotel was modern meets Boho-Chic and so classy, calming and peaceful. The pool was amazing and we had lunch there one of our days. The restaurant, Caravan Swim Club, was literally like walking into a dream. I can't even describe the ambiance, but it was absolutely ethereal. The food was delicious and the drinks outstanding. Excellent service and the entire staff was so professional, warm and kind. They also had a top notch fitness room with Pelotons!! I highly recommend Hotel June.

I had a last minute booking with Hotel June (due to a rebooked flight). I showed up at 8am to try and enter the room early but the front desk person (Director of Operations, Gavin) was very patient and clear in explaining the options to me.
While I wasn't given a room at 8am (very understable since no one had checked out yet), i was given a room at around 11.30am. Till then, I was able to use the bikes to go around the neighborhood.
When I was back, Gavin was very friendly and he helped me check-in. I had 6 large suitcase and the valet was very kind and patient with us.
The room itself was amazing. I was amazed that it had apple TV and it was easy to screen my own content on the TV. Bedding was comfortable and very clean. To top it off, the toiletries were of good quality too and it really helped me feel more relaxed after a stressful day at the airport in the morning.
I passed out for a good 4 hours in the hotel room till 6pm. Since I had a dog with me, I was looking for a pet shop and thank goodness, there was a pet store and a grocery store right next door. There were a ton of food options within a short walking distance as well.
Overall, a really relaxing and rejuventaing stay.
