Detailed Reviews
We stayed a night in room 230 which has a lovely jacuzzi with fancy columns on both sides of the tub. (There's also another jacuzzi room which has a different layout.) In our room there was a king bed, a queen bed, a table with two chairs, night stands, half size fridge (no freezer), armoire, closet, and bathroom amenities.
If you are looking for a shower stall that has some safety elements for a senior, this qualified. It was an installation shower stall with direct walk-in, and two little ledges in the shower stall if you want to perch instead of stand, a totally embedded horizontal safety bar across the back, and a nozzle on a hose so that you can bathe yourself hand-held style.
The television is perched on top of the closet which is pretty high up. You can watch it comfortably if you're lying in the king bed, but it's not watchable from anywhere else in the room.
The mini fridge was on when we arrived which I always appreciate.
There's a stairway and an elevator.
The jacuzzi is designed for two. You have to fill the water above the jet holes, before turning on the jets. The jet button is all the way to the back, so you don't turn the bubbles on til after you're already bathing in the tub. Behind the two spots where you sit, are tub indentations where you can place a rolled towel to use as a headrest. We found the tub to be comfortable and pleasant.
There were lots of cars when we arrived so parking was tight. Some of the guests were renting long-term. I liked this hotel room a lot but my boyfriend didn't like the area.

Hi LoreleiMission, Thank you very much for your encouraging comments on the various aspects of our service. To be held in such high regard by our customers is surely a dream come true for us and this is a motivation enough for us to keep scaling greater heights. We're glad that our amenities and overall service suited your needs. However, we are sorry if your boyfriend did not really like the area. But we assure you both that there is nothing sketchy about the neighborhood and that it is completely safe. Do expect enhanced levels of commitment on every visit! This place didn't look like much from the outside, but it was so much nicer on the inside than expected.
We stayed in the family suite and it was a generous size room: one room with king bed with good sized table, full size bed and twin bed, which was perfect for our family.
the shower had good water pressure and was high (which is nice for our 6'2" person)
coffee was above average but is in the lobby (not in individual rooms)
furniture was a little random (the armoire was strange) but reasonably well placed outlet through the rooms. good size fridge. parking was reasonable and they feed your meter if you have to park on the street (not a problem for us)
not much noise pollution
genuinely nice staff.
it's still a motel but it's surprisingly reasonable for a motel, esp at that price.

Sam and the staff at Colony Inn were very friendly. They took great care of our family. We were in town to visit universal studios. They were welcoming and accommodating; making us feel welcome. They gave us great tips about our trip and bargains we could be eligible for when booking in the future.

I picked this hotel because of the price & location to my son's apt. I was in CA to visit him & his family.
It was dark, about 5 or 6, the lobby was already closed, so had to ring a bell & check in outside. Then went up an outdoor staircase with butts & dirt to the room. I had trouble getting in the door. The room smelled of cleaning chemicals. It was extremely dated, nothing welcoming about the place. The towels various shades of white, not even folded neatly. Very unprofessional. I demanded my money back & found a place nearby. My daughter-in-law said I should have consulted her, she would not advise me to stay there in that section of NoHo.

They refer it has a hotel but it’s a motel. The only good thing about the motel is that the washroom was clean with well stalked towels!. Their wifi connection was really good. However they had an ironing board, but no iron. They did not have extra blankets or a microwave in the room. The closest didn’t have hangers and the beds had no blankets, just sheets. Location is sketchy, I wouldn’t feel comfortable walking at night. Very noisy in the middle of the night from the road. They need to update the website, it’s falsely advertised!! The website says it includes breakfast, but there is no breakfast. Secondly, the website offers universal studio tickets and packages for other activities but upon arriving there I came to know that those did not exist. The lady at the front desk stated that the website has not been updated. Booking flight and hotel package with air Canada I would expect the information about the motel to be accurate not falsely advertised! They shouldn’t lure customers into booking the motel with with false information. Most horrible experience ever! I would not be staying there again

Hi Kay, I'm sorry to hear about your disappointing experience with us. We take these issues seriously, and I'm truly sorry that our website misled you about our amenities and services. We are working to update the website to reflect accurate information, so future guests aren't similarly misinformed. I understand how frustrating it must have been to arrive expecting breakfast, Universal Studios tickets, and other amenities, only to find they weren't available. Regarding the ironing board without an iron, missing blankets, lack of hangers, and absence of a microwave, I'm sorry for the inconvenience and discomfort this caused. These are basic provisions that should have been in your room, and we'll address this with our housekeeping and management teams to ensure all rooms are properly equipped. The safety and comfort of our guests are paramount, so your concerns about the location and noise are noted, and we'll review our security and noise control measures. I recognize that your experience fell far short of expectations, and I apologize for the impact this had on your trip. Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention, and I hope you will allow us an opportunity to correct our shortcomings and provide a better experience in the future. Best Regards, Colony Inn Customer Care Team

Room had a real funny stale dirty smell. Bedding did not seem clean at all, we put our own shirts on the pillows cause pillows smelled and seemed dirty. TV didn't work, I was promised a discount for the TV not working but I did not receive a discount. Very pricey hotel for sub-par conditions. This is byfar the worst hotel I've ever stayed in!

Most horrible hotel experience ever! The cost was already high but what isn’t in Cali. Checked in and got our key, went to our room to get settled in and use the restroom that had pee all over it. Called the front to have housekeeping come clean it. The staff came and I noticed the room phone and TV didn’t work either so instead they changed our room. Was happy about this but the next room had hair strains in the bathtub and the phone in the new room doesn’t work either but whatever. This is what got me. If you want any kind of sleep, you have to have a room on the top floor bcs the walls are paper thin and you can hear every thing. Was up all night, so what’s the point of a hotel room? Also, the beds only have sheets, no comforter so I was cold all night. Recommend not staying here!

This place is a dive motel. The only good thing about it is that it’s an 8 minute drive to Universal. It’s dirty, old, fairly sure it’s all original but not in a cute nostalgic way. We did not want to even take our shoes off.
Location is sketchy 2am the riffraf starts screaming and yelling for about an hour. This is a hard no for us ever again.
And heck no I would not want my kids here.

Yes, we saw a few homeless people making tents for the night nearby. But the hotel is somewhat gated, close to lots of eateries, and a few minutes walk to our son's apartment in North Hollywood. The proximity and the reasonable rates drew us.
The rooms and furnishings are dated. But our room was clean, did not have any odors (bad or smelling of antiseptic), the bed comfy, and the pillows were firm. The shower was hot. The room was large (we got a king with 1 single twin even though we reserved just a king) and the bathroom was spacious.
You have to ask for hangers and an iron from the front desk if you need them. But the workers are very friendly and helpful.
We only spent one night. But we probably would stay here again for a short visit.

Old and outdated. Wires exposed in wall with no plate covering. Black path marks on carpet either very old or dirty, scary to walk on. Cupboards with obvious handles long gone. Electrical outlets far from bed except for 1. Noisy in middle of the night from road and other guests in hotel. No breakfast (and no notice of that) due to ‘Covid’...but other hotels give some breakfast in a bag for guests
It’s a quick drive to Universal Studios but in a questionable neighborhood.
Uncomfortable beds but doable if you are desperate.
I booked because of reviews and it was a mistake. Price was more than a very nice hotel in Anaheim that had a lobby, pool, hot tub, clean, updated, security and breakfast!
It wasn’t what I had hoped.

While I don’t believe they offer any specific gluten free options aside from what the previous commenter stated, the owners and staff are vary accommodating and in our experience will go out of their way to ensure you have everything you need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. My suggestion is call ahead and ask directly if for the duration of your stay they might be able to accommodate your dietary needs by supply the gluten free option.
I cannot express our gratitude at how far out of their way they went to help us with all obstacles on our holiday, even though most were not relevant to the motel itself. Great people, great experience, amazing holiday! Even if they are unable to provide gluten free muffins, there is a Walmart, Walgreens, and dozen other places that would have gluten breakfast options withing walking distance or short drive or Uber. Well worth the stay!!
There is public transportation nearby. We used Lyft to go to Universal. It was inexpensive, quick and convenient.
There are rooms with jacuzzi hot tubs..
Colony is great in order to visit Universal Studios. Bus can take you there. For the other theme parks, stay closer. Use latouristcom to find Metro transportation planning and much helpful info. With a group of 15, renting a van is best. Look up Dollar, Budget, etc. for renting. Call or email one of the hotels to see what they say. Info is free. You can use it for short trips to eat or shop for water and snacks in the area since park food is expensive. Do internet research on Google map to see what's within the area. Luck!
free parking for vehicle. Others park outside. Universal is 1.5 miles away. So you can take metro public bus for $1.75 or uber for about $5.00 or taxi for $18.00 approx. No shuttle.
