Came to Moxy LA for the week, for a conference at the LACC. This isn’t my first time at a Moxy location, so I was prepared for the non-traditional room layouts - as discussed in other reviews. Where the Moxy product lacks, it definitely makes up for in the experience. This location is almost a full service resort, with various entertainment opportunities and retail. This product is definitely for those that are looking for a lively, eccentric (and sexy) ‘vibe’. Located steps from the LACC in Central Downtown LA, it’s convenient for anyone traveling on business, our group didn’t need to book rental cars since we walked everywhere.

Unfortunately, I did have a less than subpar experience with “Bar Moxy” where my order was placed online, and after a few frustrating communication fails with the onsite team- I went downstairs to check on the order (after over an hour of waiting). Upon arriving to the bar, I was met with cold service by both the bartender and the manager who did not have my order in at all, and their kitchen was closing. Since it was so late, and they were being so rude, I told them to forget about it.

My review was leaning towards a lower star count, however, the redeeming asset was one of the team members at the front desk, Smith. Their energy was truly contagious to guests and team members alike. Smith made my experience here without a doubt. They were eager to provide true hospitality to anyone who entered, met with a smile and such positivity. I felt comfortable asking questions about the area, to which they matched with above and beyond service. Smith, I truly hope you feel as valued as you are! You are so obviously a light in the shadow of LA darkness. Thank you thank you!

My bestfriend and I came to LA to celebrate her 25th and had the best time at the Moxy! It recently opened but the vibes were immaculate. From the atmosphere to Bar Moxy, we loved it! Dontae was an amazing bartender who made sure we were enjoying ourselves the entire time. Also loved the stash closet that was on our floor. We could easily access toiletries, ironing boards and irons, etc.

Upon checking in at the Moxy, we were greeted with friendly smiles and amazing staff! The lobby is right there with the open floor plan to grab a drink or coffee at your fingertips before going to your room or waiting to check in. The rooms are quaint with everything you need for your stay purposefully placed to save room. Make sure to check out the rooftop bar at the AC for amazing views and ambiance.

This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had in a long time. There is no way this should be considered a 4 star hotel. The rooms are tiny. They do not have closets. They do not have bathrooms. They have a tiny room with a toilet in it. Next to that is a shower. The sink is in the bedroom right when you walk in. The elevators broke down within half an hour of our arrival. It is impossible to get a hold of anyone at the front desk when you call, all you get is the machine.

On top of that, they lure you in saying you get a $30 credit each night you stay. What that actually means is they charge your card $30 per night whether you spend money on the overpriced food at their bar or not.

Absolutely abysmal and a joke of a hotel. Stay away.

I’m not sure if it’s the Moxy brand, the sketchy neighborhood, the time of the year or the crowds but based on my NYE experience at this property, I doubt I will ever stay at a Moxy anywhere again.

As noted by others, the room is tiny and very poorly designed, check-in is confusing and poorly thought out, music is LOUD from the hotel bar/club, lighting is way too dim and the vibe is clearly aimed at the younger than 30 crowd. While I am older, the Moxy concept sounded cool but really disappointed at its execution.

On the positive side, the location is convenient to LA Live, entrance to the Grammy museum is included with the (scam) “amenity fee” and close to a metro station with service to Santa Monica.

Finally, we left a jacket in the bar downstairs for about 10 mins., but when we came back down to retrieve it, it had mysteriously disappeared. That alone speaks volumes about this property and some of its clientele.
Know what the Moxy is all about before booking a room!

Our room was ultra modern but very small. Difficult to walk around the room with luggage out, no closet just an iron rod sticking out from the wall. The shower had a rain head which is surprising since CA especially southern CA is in a drought and this hotel is brand new. It would be nice to have a hand held shower nozzle instead of the rain head with little water pressure. It opened the week before we arrived. The pool wasn’t open yet. It would also be helpful if they would add some hooks to hang your towels on. I was glad we only spent 3 nights here. We were there for a conference so the location was perfect. Some of the staff was a little aloof but I felt they were feeling the pressure from their recent opening.

This is a new hotel with a trendy, very dark vibe. At the moment there is nearly no food service (small bar snacks and a long wait for a small grab and go) and they will not do room service now or in the future. The decor is dark and the rooms are small and a bit odd- no closet, no fridge, no desk, poor wireless, no coffee in room, tiny sink, etc. Worst is that the 33 story hotel has three elevators- which are often used by the employees- leading to very long waits and very slow rides. It will likely be a fun venue when the restaurants open. However, for those attending a scientific conference at the convention center and looking for a comfy hotel with a few luxuries it is best to look elsewhere.

Really disappointing option. The rooms are the size of a closet, the extra fees come with supposed perks that never materialized, the parking situation is abysmal, and the lobby bar staff were rude and dismissive. The location seemed like a big plus, but it was the loudest room I’ve ever experienced in dozens and dozens of trips. With so many other great options in DTLA…this was a big swing and a miss. Peculiar to me that the reviews on other sites don’t match this site at all.

Customer service was amazing! The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The bar had an alluring vibe and its style was very sleek, which made me want to stay and order another drink. It was a great chill experience. The hallway art was very interesting and pleasantly different. There was an alien theme that I really liked. I would recommend staying here and make sure you get a drink at the bar.

Absolutely loved this fun property! Moxy was designed for the millennial traveler, and it’s ambiance is quite welcoming. I was happy to have been provided free drink tickets during my visit which afforded me Japanese whiskey at their lovely bar. I also tried the Thai wings which were great. The staff at this hotel were knowledgeable and hospitable throughout my stay. The rooms are small and seem efficient for only one but still provided a cozy experience. The guest room floors could use a bit of sweeping from housekeeping too. Overall, I enjoyed this property and will certainly visit again for future stays in DTLA!
