Just returned from a sisters trip to Los Angeles. Our main reason for the trip was to visit the Japanese American National Museum. The Miyako was in a perfect location for our visit. It is basically right across the street. We loved our short 2 night stay but agreed we would love to go back and stay there again. Every employee we came in contact with was so nice and engaging. Francis and Cesar were especially helpful and true assets to the hotel. Francis went out of his way to make sure to honor our request for a quiet room. Didn't catch the names of the other employees but everyone was great! The rooms were spacious with lots of counter space in the bedroom and bathroom. The beds were very comfy and the pillows were the best I ever had. I have a hard time finding a good pillow. I wish I would have asked what kind they use! The bathrooms have bath & body products in large sharing size containers. The toilets have bidets on them. The only small issue was the shower. It blasts water out like a fire hose with no way to tone it down. They also offer their own branded water bottles in the rooms for $1.50 each. Just let them know how many you drink. Not sure who makes it, but my sister claims it's the best bottled water ever. They have a nicely filled self service snack & drink store in the lobby. There is a coffee & pastry cafe in the lobby as well. We loved our stay. We can't wait to visit again. Thanks Miyako!!

This was a wonderful base for exploring Little Tokyo and the rest of LA. The hotel is wonderfully clean and conveniently located steps from the Little Tokyo metro station. Tons of great restaurants are within walking distance, and it's a short walk to the Arts District. Service is attentive (daily maid service is scrupulous -- and far superior to the current state of most chain hotels). Rooms have refrigerators, which is great since it's so easy to stop at the Japanese market nearby for snacks. Room size is comfortable. I felt very safe walking around solo.

This Asian theme hotel is located in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles. It is very convenient to great authentic Japanese eateries all located across the street or down the block to the plaza of shops and restaurants. The historical and must-see Japanese American National Museum is located down the block.
The room needs updating and the desk/furniture needs refurbishing. However, overall the room is simply furnished and functional.
The Speakman bidet is the best feature of the room!
In the lobby area is a little breakfast bakery with cute novelty pastries.
We had a room on the 3rd floor away from the street. The room was on top of the parking garage and faced another garage. No view at all, but it was quiet. If you are staying on a weekday, I believe it may be better to have a street view because the street is probably quieter than on the weekend. At least, you would have a better view than facing a parking garage.
Ask for a room above the 3rd floor.
The self-service laundry room is convenient too.
Public transportation is nearby. The hotel is walking distance to Union Station. However, if you arrive at night, do not walk as the area is not safe at night.
I highly recommend this hotel for its convenient location in Little Tokyo.

I tried to cancel the reservation 48 hours before check-in per hotel rules. I had to go through Booking.com to contact the hotel. I informed the hotel that my wife was ill and due to the coronavirus emergency we had decided to cancel. the hotel refused the cancellation and charged us for a no-show. The hotel stated that they had a 24 hour cancellation policy, but I contacted Booking.com prior to 24 hours. When I tried to email the hotel about the problem they immediately charged my credit card, even before the reservation time. This hotel has terrible customer service, especially during an emergency. There are better choices in LA that will treat you better - stay away.

I was disappointed at my 1-week stay. I was given room 621 as I reserved a deluxe room which guarantees a room above Level 5. Despite them not full at the time of my visit, they gave me this room which faces a multi storey carpark. I had to draw the curtain the whole time to avoid being viewed from the carpark.

The aircon in this room was the noisiest I had ever experienced in any hotels. Pls send someone to the room and wait for it to turn on and off by itself and feel the difference in the noise level. It was still possible to sleep if the noise was constant but the fact that the aircon generates huge noise each time it turns itself on and stays quiet when it is off automatically to adjust the temperature makes it impossible to use the aircon at night. Also check how much dust was accumulated on the aircon. It seemed to me that the aircon had not been serviced for an extended period of time.

The pillows were extremely uncomfortable. They gave three non-standard (small) pillows per bed and they were too high and not soft. The bed was also uncomfortable. I sinked in the mattress despite me being less than 50kg. I had a hard time sleeping every night because of this (and the aircon problem.)

There is something looking like a phone charger (as part of the alarm clock) on the bedside table. However, it seems to fit only very old iphone models (iphone 4 maybe.) There are no USB A or USB C chargers near the bed. I had to use the sockets on the desk (and my adaptor) to charge my phone which was inconvenient.

On a positive note, the room was clean. Housekeeping staff occasionally forgot to replenish bathroom amenities and (chargeable) bottled water but it was not a problem for me.

The hotel it’s so pretty and clean, staff is really friendly, my room was clean. Hotel is right next to the Japanese village plaza (little Tokyo) everything is walking distance. Their check in time is at 3pm but we arrived earlier like 11:30am and the staff was super nice and let us leave our luggage in a room while we went out to the plaza to eat something while we were waiting for our room. We had the best time and will definitely be back! Thank you so much

I was extremely disappointed how the Miyako handled a situation where one of our gift bags was thrown away by the staff. I get it, accidents happen, but the staff could not have been more rude or less understanding. At first, the lady who worked at the front desk was very nice and let me know that we couldn't look through the garbage because the trash had already been taken out, but she said she would speak to a manager and see how they could help. However, the next day the situation completely spiraled when I had to deal with Harpan, another employee who works at the front desk.
First of all, he wouldn't let me speak directly to the manager. He kept leaving our conversation to go "consult" but never let me meet the person in charge. Then, he claimed that the reason why the manager had decided they couldn't help me is because they believed we could be lying. He assured me that none of the staff had thrown it away (having never actually asked anyone), and told me that there was nothing that they could do because it is more likely that "I had just lost it." There was about $200 worth of gifts for my girlfriend that hadn't even been opened yet, and I was absolutely willing to dig through as many trash bags as it took to find it. Still, Harpan and "the manager" refused to work with me in any sort of way and denied any responsibility for the gift bag.
I understand if there are extenuating circumstances, but claiming a customer is lying is terrible service. Would not come here again only because of the staff's treatment during this situation and the way Harpan and the manager chose to handle the aftermath. After about 30 minutes of arguing, they settled on waiving one day of parking (a whopping $30 fee) in order to get me to shut up. If the manager had handled this in a remotely considerate way (or actually talked to me), I would have no problem recommending the Miyako. Sad to see an otherwise pleasant stay ruined by the staff.

Forgot to take pictures- but photos online are pretty accurate. Just some things to note:
Beds are full size not Queen in case this is important. The bathrooms are a bit dated and not really efficient. No hooks near shower to hang towels or clothing. But there is a heated bidet on toilet which is pretty cool. The lobby and hallways are nice and more updated than the interior of guest room. But everything is clean and staff was nice. The location is great, busy, not isolated. Japanese Village right behind the hotel. The one negative that I have to note is that if you need extra time after checkout they will charge you a half-day rate. They will give you one complimentary hour like most hotels. But more than that, it’s 1/2 of that day’s rate BUT only for 3 hours. So, you’re paying $100 probably for 3 hours. We had a very late flight and had about 8 hours to waste. I might have paid the $100 to stay until we had to leave for airport but not for 3 hours.

Excellent hotel in Little Tokyo. Our room had shaving kits, toothbrushes, tons of soaps and stuff. Just great.
Bed was so comfy I could have slept for a week straight.
Good coffee downstairs and snacks 24/7 in a large vending area.
Just a fantastic stay.

Nice hotel in a very safe area - little Tokyo.

Rooms are big and there's restaurants all around it.

Opposite the hotel you can park for free from 8pm to 8AM and the first 2 hrs then are free so effectively from 8pm to 10am.

Around the hotel there's also parking spaces on the road, so you dont have to put your car in their parking OR the mall park. Just in case.
