Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife and I got a very nice and big room on first floor.
When we entered the room we discovered that there were no sheets on the bed nor curtain on the bathroom's tab. The employees (or owners/managers?) quickly fixed the room, after asking us to wait in our car!
Even though I booked this room with breakfast, the receptionist told us that breakfast was no longer served from January 1st. (But we paid for it!)
In sum, employees are very kind and the room is great. But keep in mind that they don't serve breakfast.

A clean motel in Harbor City. The room is basic but that is all I needed for the night as the room, sheets and towels were clean. The front desk person was super friendly. Yes, it can be a bit noisy for the rooms by the main street but nothing I could not handle as this is the city. Just ask for a room near the back if you do not like street noise.

There were several fast food and regular restaurants nearby. A fantastic donut shop right down the block from the motel.

Major shopping center 1.8 miles from the motel.

The area was a little bit sketchy, but I did not feel unsafe.

I would stay here again as this motel looked better than many motels in the area.

I arrived after 2300 hrs to find 4 people standing outside the office. They’d been there 10 minutes, calling trying to reach someone. The employee was quite pleasant when she finally came to check us in.
The area looks a bit sketchy at night and even made the Uber driver question whether it was a good idea to stay there, but it was fine. Daylight showed me that it was just commercial.
The room was great, if you don’t mind traffic noises and being awakened bright and early by the sun. I would suggest earplugs and/or a sleep mask if either bothers you. I was impressed by the size of the room and that it didn’t have carpet. The king bed was fairly comfortable, with a refrigerator, microwave, flatscreen tv and small table for working or eating. The heater/ac unit kept me comfortable during my stay.
I gave it four stars (would be four and one half, if allowed) due to the noise level, but otherwise it was a great room.

The only reason I'm giving the Harbor City Travelodge one star instead of zero is because the room was clean, and there were a few amenities (microwave, fridge, iron and ironing board, and adequate towels and soap). It was definitely not attractive: no bedside lamps and only harsh overhead lighting, one picture on the wall with gang graffiti scrawled on it, no breakfast included, and no coffee in the room. But the worst thing is that the mattress was horrible! It was thin, lumpy, hard, and uneven, and I tossed and turned all night and never could get comfortable. My only reason for staying there is that I was too tired to make the long trip home, so paying $158 for a room where I was unable to sleep was a total waste of money. I definitely do not recommend this motel!

I expect to be refunded the full cost of my stay in this miserable place.

On Wednesday, September 27 2023, I made a reservation. My reservation was for a 2 night stay in a 1 Queen room checking in on Friday 11/3/2023 and checking out on Sunday, 11/5/2023. The location was 1440 Pacific Coast Highway; Harbor City California. Phone number is 310.530.8300

The invoice for this reservation was:
Room Rate - USD $114
Bed Tax 14% - USD $31.92
Total for Stay - USD $259.92

When we arrived at the hotel, the desk clerk asked, “Would you like to have a larger bed? It will be much more comfortable for you.”

When I declined her offer, she then informed me that there was no Queen room available. However, she would give me the “opportunity” to pay the additional cost to stay in a King room. At the last minute, I was trapped into acquiescing and paying the additional cost she demanded. She changed the amount of additional cost several times saying that she was now “discounting” the additional cost which ultimately was $25.08 more than the original price quoted.

The reasonably sized room was cold and uninviting. Hard flooring, only 2 outlets, only one overhead light. Not even lamps on the night stands. The ONLY good thing about this place was that the Housekeeping Team kept this place sparkling clean. You could walk across the spartan room and your feet were clean.

The following morning, we opened the door to leave and there was a bundle of blankets blocking the exit. We noticed that there was a foot poking out of the bundle and realized that it was a person in the bundle.

When I called down about the situation, the same desk clerk answered the phone. I told her that there was a person blocking the door and that we could not exit. She responded, “Oh, the homeless guy is there?” She was unsurprised and she was unconcerned. When I requested that someone address the situation she said, “I will call the maintenance man, but he lives in another town and it will take some time for him to arrive.” When I asked how much time, she refused to give me an answer. We needed to leave so we addressed the situation ourselves waking the gentleman who promptly got up and moved.

We then left for a few hours and when we returned we got a call from the clerk who told us that we could move to a Queen room. No offer to compensate us for the change was made. I told her that we were not interested in the additional inconvenience of having to change our room. Her voice indicated that she found this irritating, but said nothing more.

Later that evening, the “Homeless Guy” returned, but was gone when we woke up. We left Sunday morning 11/5/2023 at 9:45 a.m. when we were picked up by Lyft.

This is place is very clean and spacious, we got the double king beds rooms! The staff are very friendly and helpful, Meena Patel made great effort in helping me and my family get a good accommodation at the lodge. The location may be further away from LA City Center but considering how maintained is the lodge interior, I would definitely book again in this place when I come to LA again. I would consider this place as one of the best inns/motels/ lodges, at this affordable price, that I stayed at in LA.

The neighborhood looks a little sketchy, but we 100% would recommend this hotel. The staff was polite, our room was immaculate, the beds were comfortable. The rooms don't allow much outside sound, and the ac works great. 10/10 would recommend, and definitely will stay again if we are in the area.

the owner is a criminal. the office is not 24/7. the place is disgusting. worst hotel experience of my life. this place should be shut down - unsafe, unclean, awful staff, even worse owners. they will charge you extra and when you show up you might end up needing to sleep in your car. staff is not on site, management is extremely difficult to get a hold of, the parking lot is scary and un secure, the grounds are dirty. this place is awful

This was probably the worst hotel we have ever stayed in during our 50+ years of marriage.

There are no lamps next to the bedside. The lighting in the room consists of overhead recessed ceiling lights that do not dim, making laying in bed on your back uncomfortable to say the least. There was no blanket on the bed and the fan in the bathroom sounded like a jet plane taking off in closer proximity than anyone would want to be. And guess what, the bathroom door wouldn't close. The lighting outside the rooms was out, making putting the key card into the lock quite problematic.

This place is horrible, even if you do not expect anything good. Before our stay, they called me and said 3 pm was not available and I should come at 4 pm. We agreed and came at 4:30 pm. The room was still not ready. We had to wait another half an hour to get our room. What we booked was a one-bed room but got a two-bed room without any notice. And at night, we found the toilet was clogged. They do not have any maintenance and ask us to solve it ourselves. As a hotel/motel, it should deliver its minimum responsibility. They failed to do that and had never apologized.
