The Kimpton Everly Hotel earns high marks for its cleanliness and vibrant atmosphere, complete with live music and chic decor. While many guests appreciate the central location for sightseeing in Hollywood, reviews are mixed regarding the rooms—some find them contemporary and cozy, others suggest they need updating. Service at the hotel generally receives praise for staff friendliness and efficiency. However, the value proposition is contentious; several travelers feel let down by the amenity fees, which they believe do not match the perks received.

I want to sincerely thank the wonderful staff and crew at the Kimpton Everly for a great experience through a scary time. Last week, our home was very close to the Eaton fire area, and we evacuated with our cat. We searched the city and we’re pleased to find that Kimpton allows pets - and do not charge additional pet fees. What was initially a one night stay turned into a six night stay as we navigated the uncertainties of the fire. All of the Everly staff was gracious, without being overbearing - and did a fantastic job juggling evacuees, travelers, and conference attendees. Richard and Ivan were particularly attentive at the front desk - helping us handle little details like getting a microwave for our room. The space is beautiful - it’s comfortable and classy without being pretentious. We had stayed once before, and didn’t know pets were allowed - so they also do a great job at keeping the facility clean. Finally, the food and drinks were great - especially the phenomenal coffee at Jane Q - seriously competes with some of the best coffee in the surrounding neighborhoods. Finally - this is a phenomenon location. It’s centrally located in Hollywood, and very close to the freeway - making trips throughout hectic LA more manageable.

Thank you to the entire team - you made a pretty scary situation way more manageable. And thankfully, our home was not damaged in the fire.

My recent 3 day stay at the Kimpton Everly exceeded all expectations! The facilities are modern, airy, and beautifully designed. From the moment I walked in I felt a level of luxury and comfort I hadn’t expected from a hotel located in a fairly touristy location. The front desk staff was professional, friendly and efficient from the first interaction. Jade in particular was exceptional, checking me in early on short notice, and helping answer my many questions with helpful information and a smile (the glass of bubbly offered at check-in was also much appreciated!)

My room was clean and much bigger than I anticipated, with a gorgeous view of the Hollywood sign. Despite being near a freeway, I heard almost no noise at night. There was a minor electrical issue in my room that Jade had fixed promptly and at my convenience. I REALLY appreciated that there were plenty of hangers in the closet (something most hotels inexplicably scrimp on), and lots of hot water at high pressure. The workout room was well-equipped and clean, and the heated pool was lovely!

The location was a pleasant surprise; it's close enough to walk to some attractions, really good bars and restaurants, and also within 30 minutes of most things I wanted to do. There are plenty of cheap parking options nearby if you’re not keen on paying for valet.

I go to LA frequently and have stayed at most of the other Kimptons, and the Kimpton Everly is now at the top of my list when I return!

Based on the reviews we were a bit apprehensive about staying here however it was the best rated within our budget. Thankfully, it wasn't too bad. We had a strange and constant issue with drinking water which dampened our trip (no pun intended). We were not given any water on check in, but instead took advantage of the free tap water by the elevators. When we returned after our first evening there were no cups, so I went to the empty bar to grab a couple of glasses only to be shouted at by security who then directed me to reception who handed me two bottles of water that should have been issued at check in. After the first maid visit, two large glass bottles were now left in our room. When we went to check out on day 5 these were charged to our room. This was a total shock as there was no price list and we assumed they were free. The empty bottles were also never replaced by the maid. Absolutely bizarre. So yeh... 3 strange water shenanigans. Also it appears we were mischarged. Our deposit and our room charge were a similar amount and we were incorrectly charged the higher amount. Hardly worth the complaint but we duly noted this. When we realised the mistake the exchange rate not working in our favour had cancelled out any saving so we left the issue.

The hotel itself was great. We found the room largely enjoyable. The bathtub was the real winner and reason we booked here, so we were disappointed to find the plug broke after the first use so the tub wouldn't retain the water (is this the 4th water related shenanigan?). The location suited us well enough, being roughly equidistant from DTLA (via nearby Metro station) and the beach (via Uber). The Hollywood boulevard is within walking distance as are many food and drink options and convenience stores. I'd recommend brunch at Beauty and Essex- this was our favourite LA spot.

Also worth noting, we had an enjoyable day at the pool hiding amongst the posers, tiktokers and script-readers. The staff at the pool were super friendly and even took me through their store room to view the Hollywood sign. Unfortunately they're missing out by not offering comprehensive food and drink options in this area.

All in all, I'd recommend it for the price. I think we got a good deal and there wasn't much comparable at the price. LA was up there with my least favourite cities in the world, so I won't be returning any time soon.

Thank you for sharing your recent experience here at Kimpton Everly Hollywood. While we were pleased to read that overall your stay was pleasant, I do sincerely apologize for the less than stellar experience especially with the water snafus. I can assure you this is not typical, and have met with my team around your notes to see where we can improve. We really appreciate your business, and hope to see you again soon.

Unsuitable for the KIMPTON name, I booked this hotel because I stayed in the Grand Cayman property. If I had stayed in this Los Angeles hotel before, I would never have stayed in a KIMPTON again, as I will do now.
In any case, the design of the hotel is very beautiful, it's a shame that I don't maintain it well, doors in the rooms are broken, ceilings not stuccoed and painted, carpet in the corridors ruined and not replaced. The icing on the cake is the cleanliness, completely non-existent, piles of dust on the furniture, they don't change the glasses in the rooms because they leave them to collect dust, change of linen non-existent, every time you have to call to have it brought up, plus the towels They are for 12 year olds, too small for an adult size XL and up.
Not to go back.

I stayed at this hotel last night, and unfortunately, it was far below expectations, especially for the $300+ per night rate.

The rooms are outdated, with a broken sink in the bathroom, patched sheetrock on the ceiling, and stingy, and dark carpet. The bed sheets were so worn out they had holes in them (see attached photos). Additionally, the cupboards smelled old and stale, and the robes provided were stiff and unpleasant to use.

The person who checked us in was rude and unwelcoming, which set a negative tone right away. He handed us a paper listing additional charges of $45 per night for amenities like “free” coffee, fruit in the fitness room, and a welcome drink (which we never received). When I asked about the welcome drink at the front desk the next morning, the staff member said I should have gotten it but couldn’t offer any resolution.

On top of this, the hotel only offers valet parking, which costs $65 per night—a steep fee for such a disappointing experience.

For a hotel claiming to be 4-star, this was unacceptable. I’m certain there are better options in the area with modern amenities and more professional service. Save your money and stay elsewhere.

We stayed for two nights after returning from a cruise with my daughter & grandkids.

Our cruise docked in the morning so I asked if we could get an early check in but we arrived quite early so we were going to drop off luggage but they said room was ready and we could get in right away. It’s a cute boutique hotel with clean rooms and nice staff. The room was prepaid on points so when we checked out there was a small food charge for under $20 which went on our card.

When I got home and checked my visa after vacation I was surprised to see a charge for $164.92. I emailed the person who was so kind to give us an early check in thinking they ran thru an extra digit in error and no reply. I left a message for manager and no reply, I emailed accounting and no reply and emailed once again saying I will be disputing charge if I do not hear back and no reply.

So unfortunately the cute hotel with nice staff gets zeroed out when they charged our card over $140 more than they should and ignored all of my messages.

Very disappointing as I was going to write a raving review but once I saw the charge and they had no desire to reply then I knew I had been ripped off and it wasn’t an error at all.

This was a staycation for me and I'm so happy I chose this hotel! Spencer at the front desk was great! Upon check-in he gave me all the necessary info to have a great stay! Lauren and Naomi at the bar were so friendly, and my friends and I will be back for the new happy hour starting in March 2025. Also, the hotel will text to make sure you're having a great time during your stay. I appreciated this when I needed assistance at the pool cabana. Everyone was extremely friendly and when I needed anything (towels, toothpaste, combs, etc.) they were quick to deliver. I love Kimpton hotels and this trip was consistent with my experiences elsewhere. Thanks y'all!

We are currently on day 2 of a 4 night stay and I do not recommend this hotel. At first glance staff welcoming and free champagne! However that positive attitude fades as the elevator door closes. Arrived in the room to find 2 bath towels and 2 face cloths, for 4 nights. Advised housekeeping is upon request - what they don't tell you is that you have to request 24 hrs I advance. So we requested extra towels. It took asking 3 times to get the towels. It's like face cloths are made of gold around here, they are hoarded like I have never seen before.

Our toliet was flushing on its own, but I fixed that myself because you can't get an answer at the front desk to save your life.

If you plan on doing decent make up bring your own mirror and sit by the window because it's SO dark in the bathroom. Ordered a pizza from room service and it was the so pale and undercooked. Do NOT recommend. The neighbourhood, while convenient is full of homeless people. Room is fine but bare bones, big highlight is Google Chromecast..yay. Only real positives are the beds are comfortable and the rooms seem well insulated as sound does not carry much.

I cannot recommend this hotel. Stay in West Hollywood. That's where I'm going next time.

First time staying at a Kimpton property as we usually stick to Hyatt. Could definitely feel the difference in service, quality of property and amenities.

Service: no issues at check-in, just average. Check-in agent acknowledged the Platinum status but made no mention of welcome amenity or points choice. Since I'm not so frequent with IHG program I didn't care much, but its just a matter of sticking to the program. As other reviews have pointed out, there's an amenity fee which is mostly full of fluff items. EVERY hotel provides Wi-fi , and EVERYONE has a phone now to make local and long distance calls , the coffee they give you (1 per day, only costs 6$), and the fresh fruit in gym was 3 sad looking tangerines (i think) sitting in a basket at the gym. And no mention of the welcome drink specifically listed as one of the amenity fee inclusions (not that we even drink). So really the amenity fee provides almost no value for 35$(?) ... suggestion: at least provide bottled waters daily like Hyatt does.

Property: Other than our booked room having a view of the hollywood sign, it was pretty basic with a lot of patchwork on ceiling. I'm not a fan of bathrooms with no lock, just a sliding door and a half glass wall separating standing shower from sink, which tends to allow some splashing to cross over. It being december the pool deck was completely empty. The pool is heated, and you can see the steam somehow, but it was still too cold; my son got in and out in 2 min - there is no hot tub. The lounge cushions look pretty worn.

Location/Parking: Location is great, just a short walk to Hollywood Blvd for the walk of fame. Parking seems to be high all over surrounding area so it seems on par to charge 65$/night for valet, no complaints there. Valet attendants were great and they have a good system to just text them "Car" to their number and they know the # assigned to your car and bring it down rather quickly.

To sum it up, our short stay was fine, but I'd just consider it average.

We are returning guests. We were very happy to see Jade still working at your wonderful hotel. As usual she was delightful and very accommodating. Throughout our stay, Jade always made sure we were having a fun time. Our room was absolutely gorgeous with a great view of the “Hollywood sign” and the Griffith Observatory, along with fantastic water pressure in the shower. The restaurant Jane Q was delicious with lots of options, we ordered multiple times. The hotel bar has a fantastic vibe and all the good cocktails! We will continue to stay here and will also continue to highly recommend the hotel to our friends and family. Thanks again to all your staff!
