Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Pretty nice place actually. Old converted building with modern hotel rooms. Very clean. The room is small and theres no privacy for the bathroom area. No door to the shower which actually was kind of cool. Rustic yet modern feel. Uber and lyft can find this place easily. Big 24 hour laundromat across the street. Parking on site for $20.00, but keep in mind the same parking lot is used as a valet during the evening for a connected bar. Easy check-in and the staff was very professional. One small detail though that I didn't care for was the heavy scent of perfume in the lobby. Small elevator, but easy access big stairway to get to the other floors.

I need to stay in L.A. one night/week for work, so decided to try this place out. I'd say it is excellent value for money if you do not have a car. The $34 parking fee (I got a whole tank of gas for $50 this morning) is exorbitant and is the one thing that will be stopping me from staying here weekly. There isn't any parking really in the area on the street so you are stuck with it. There weren't any of the advertised (on their website) complimentary drinks and snacks at reception, which is not a big deal but seems like false advertising. Otherwise, I really liked the room and the hotel, with lot's of dining options nearby and friendly reception.

Was in town for work and H By H (formerly East West Hotel) was close to meetings.

Got exactly what I expected. Room was quite nice for a cheaper hotel (rainfall shower head, big bed, etc.) and while there was some traffic noise in the morning (I had a room facing the street), there was none overnight and I slept soundly.

I'm a bit puzzled by some of the other reviews. I knew in advance that parking costs $34, which isn't terrible for attendant parking in LA. Yes, they charged a $150 damage deposit but promptly refunded it the next day, which is common in most US hotels. I wasn't surprised by anything, especially given the price range - if you're staying in a hotel at this price (and you can easily compare to others in the area), I think it is important to have appropriate expectations.

I stayed at this hotel for one night and it’s absolutely one of the worst nights of sleeps I’ve had in recent memory (for comparison, I have a toddler). I checked in on Jan. 28 and out on the 29th.

I checked in around 8:30pm. My room was on the fourth floor, 407 if I remember correctly. When I first arrived in my room, I was worried that it was right next to the elevator but it didn’t sound that loud. Boy was I wrong! As the outside noise quieted down for the night, the elevator was extremely loud. The room shared two walls with the elevator (see attached picture) and I heard every time anyone was on the elevator, each time it stopped at the first floor and every ding it made when it arrived at any floor above the first floor. There was also a group that gathered at the elevator late at night that was loud too.

Beware of this hotel and its policy regarding room assignments (I booked directly on its website but was told I got one of the rooms they try not to assign - those ending in 7s and 9s as they’re close to or share a wall with the elevator - because I checked in late in the evening/at night).

When I mentioned the loudness of the elevator throughout the night to the gentleman at the front desk, he told me the policy about room assignments, the insight about rooms ending in 7s and 9s and not much else. There was not an apology or even an acknowledgement of the sheer annoyance of hearing an elevator all night.

Needless to say, I will not be giving my money to this hotel again.

I recently wanted to do a quick overnight visit to spend time with family. We looked at lots of places and I was very pleased with this choice. I spent 1 night at this hotel and found it to be clean, safe, and it had a nice atmosphere. Check in/out was easy and the staff responsive. The bed and linens were comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. Free WiFi and a nice TV. And total price was $146 👍

A couple of things that could be improved: the bathroom mirror and lighting wasn’t great for applying makeup. There’s no place in the hotel to get bottled water so be sure to bring your own. The cafe opens at 9am but I would have paid extra to have a small coffee maker/service put in the room.

I’m very happy to recommend this hotel.

Similar to another review the hotel demands a $150 damage deposit that I was unaware about on arrival. We had traveled from abroad and arrived that day and were assured that we would be refunded this money at 12 Noon on check out. They have not refunded this money despite us leaving the room in a good state,, we even tidied up and made the bed.

What’s worse we booked another room for a friend who booked a separate room and they have failed to return his of yet too.

I’m not sure how a hotel chain can act in this fashion.

You can see other reviews I have given over the years about other hotels etc and the vast majority are positive so I’m pretty fair.

Do not book this hotel! I stayed here on January 1st, and they took a month to release the 150 USD deposit. And if that was not bad enough, they took another 450 USD (of which 150USD was actually taken and 300USD was reserved) from my account, without any warning! Now, 7 weeks later, I still have not received any explanation on the 150 dollars that is taken from me. Since I am abroad I cannot call and texting is very expensive (to which they barely reply). They do not have any other method to contact them. Save yourself the stress and chose another hotel. There are many better ones in the city!

Not trustworthy, Apart from charging for the rooms, they charged us on our international card without informing. When we inquired they told we were charged for parking when we were told by the hotel that we wouldnt be charged. We are travelling from Dubai, so they very well know we cant go back there in person.

Small room that had all of the basic necessities, bathroom was aesthetically pleasing but the walls were a little thin so could be loud at times. Not a bad experience overall but nothing extraordinary. The location wasn’t bad and there was a good amount of shops around.

Yes it is ! it's not 4-star but I'd definitely stay there again. Its a funky older building but the rooms are updated and really clean. Employees/service is outstanding. Better than "decent" !

I would suggest looking elsewhere. The lack of parking, the challenges with the rooms being small, some having bed bugs from another reviewer, and the tv choices indicate that this Hotel is NOT ready for primetime.
