It was all around great, at first I was surprised by the look of it on the outside but once you walk in, it’s like something off Harry Potter just showed me to never judge a book by its cover. 5/5 stars for me.

The Hotel Royal stay was everything I needed this weekend. The staff was extremely friendly and made sure I had everything I needed. The room was small but well styled. It’s in a safe part of downtown so I could hear a little of city and not worry about any crazies. There are also many eating options within steps of the hotel. I’ll be taking solo trips more often and this will be my hotel of choice.

Be warned if you make a reservation and they take deposit that is "fully refundable". They will not refund you money. I made a reservation that was fully refundable last August 2020 for a date in 2021 via Expedia. When I cancelled in December 2020, and Expedia website said that I would get my refund from the property, it never happened. I attempted to contact the hotel by email and phone repeatedly, but they never answered. Now I am trying to address this through the credit card company.

This quaint & affordable hotel caught our eye online so we ended up planning an entire trip around it. We were not disappointed! Akia was so kind and accommodating + the room we stayed in had everything we needed: a single cup coffee maker, large tv with some streaming services, private bath, fridge/freezer and a key code on the door (no lost room keys on this trip!). The hotel itself was very central and within walking distance of a parking garage available to Hotel Royal guests for a minimal nightly fee, lots of different restaurants, a local coffee/kombucha shop is right next door, and the beach is *maybe* a mile away! Needless to say, we left our car in the garage the whole time and grabbed coffee on our way to the local shops (ReCircle Home) or the beach each day! The only caveat was that we did have to rent bikes at the pier (wheel fun rentals) because the free, on-site ones are not currently available due to sanitation concerns. This was understandable, but I did want to mention it as the hotel website doesn't specify. I would suggest renting bikes so you can take the bike path to the dog beach (a way to get your dog fix since you can’t have your pups at the hotel) or adventure a little further to seal beach. This hotel really made our trip a simple one- I highly recommend it based on the kindness of the staff and location alone. It was pleasant & memorable enough that we would gladly stay again. ❤️

My room was perfect for me on my own. I loved the real dishes and wine glasses and corkscrew already in my room! The staff was so accommodating for my late check in also. The bed was very comfortable and they had the AC/Heat unit already turned on and heating my room for me.
